+20 power per subsystem is indeed too much. Plasmonic leech at least forces you to slot a console and spec some flow capacitors to make it worth having, Supremacy needs nothing.
Supremacy isn't nearly giving you as much power as the Leech, though. And it doesn't even, you know, leech. It's not a stand-in replacement for the Console. Not saying you said so, but I've tried, and often can't even get everything above 75 with the Trait alone. And I'm a Fed Engineer.
Given that last bit, should there even be a DPS-10,000 channel? Maybe a DPS-15,000 or even DPS-20,000 as the starting point?
Yes, I think there should. Much like ppl going for 50k will preferably want to make their runs from 30k, likewise those shooting for the latter deserve a 'bootstrap' 10k channel.
Something that could show that either folks are able to pull that kind of DPS off under the imperfect conditions of a public queue or have the team mentality to have tried to put together something with other folks for better conditions...?
They're DPS-channels. not you're-a-team-player channels. If people observe the channel rules (wfp, &^%#%!), then I see no reason to exclude them.
What a LOL thread. I think I ended up in 10k cuz someone uploaded a performance of mine. Big thanks. Wasnt plasma doping but use the delta trait so feel free to reset me. On the space toons I take seriously I pull some 20-30k. On my end it often depends on the match because I dont hesitate doing the awkward stuff as well (clear out the trash, free a hostage) instead of only running for the next lucrative targets as fast as I can in order to get high numbers.
You guys have some very strict rules for your channels and from my perspective with next patch the game rules simply change and overrule a lot of you, including me.
If you like to uphold the quality of your channels a massive reset is in order. I doubt you want to have the community claiming that so many in your channels only made it in under false pretences.
Please reset asap and me right along with it.

Team players mean better DPS for folks on the team.
Of course. But it's kinda like the chicken and the egg: if people have already found places they can do their 30k, 50k, etc., prior to being admitted to those channels, then they wouldn't need the DPS-channels. Part of the charm of the DPS-league is that you're guaranteed an absolute minimum performance by team mates you'll be getting, so you can try for those higher runs. To me, that suffices.
Aren't the official rules set to where you have to match the DPS for that channel?
If the change sets everybody's dps back then we are automatically disqualified for that channel any way.
If their build is really that great then running one mission to get back to where they were will not be a problem.
My vote is a clean slate. We can always get back into the channels and ask for help getting higher as we have always done. By the way.. the link to the combatlog reader is broken..

I guess to me, it comes down to the question of whether it's the DPS League or the Farming League. The initiative...interest in DPS...and then redundancy, imho, when it comes to the 10k channel.
And just because folks are in various DPS League channels doesn't mean they don't do other runs...folks have options, heh, the DPS League is not a monogamous relationship.
As a 10k and 30k member I am in favour of a reset, however, I would wait until the new Plasma mechanic (direct damage Plasma explosion) is implemented.
As Borticus said, this week's change for Plasma is temporary, the new direct damage will be added in the near future (who knows... 2-3 weeks?).

No point it's an increase in DPS so it'll only improve stats. If it was a nerf then I'd agree with waiting.
Chris Robert's on SC:
"You don't have to do something again and again and again repetitive that doesn't have much challange, that's just a general good gameplay thing."
Me too I am especially concerned about the lower channels like 10k : I don't want to end up teaming with some dude who got there just because of plasma doping since 10k was already looking like the old Pestf and same point for 30k actually.
However , I'd go for a total wipe just to get rid of any doubt and future complaints .
Did I misunderstand the +#% plasma damage tactical benefit is getting turned into exotic? For plasma weapons that is a nerf. For those of you running antiproton it wont affect you.

Here's Borticus' excerpt description:
"We've decided to address the various issues of these Consoles' design, by rebuilding the Consoles' effects at some point in the near future. The new design is intended to be fairly simple:
All Energy Weapons will gain a 2.5% chance to apply an instant amount of Plasma Damage, on hit. (amount of damage is TBD, but should be comparable to what you can currently achieve)
This new console effect will be built to benefit from +Damage abilities and consoles.
No more DOT, and no more differing benefits for different weapon types.
And now for a bit of bad news: We're not going to be able to make this rebuild and get it tested before the changes that are currently on Tribble will appear on Holodeck."
So, no. It's not exotic. It's plasma, literally plasma damage. It's just applied without needing plasma weapons. It's direct and has no DoT. It WILL be buffable. However, they haven't implemented these changes yet.

yeah in a way it looks like it's a nice change. They will even buff warp plasma, which is nice because I like to use warp plasma + doffed TBR combo. The only bad part is, after tomorrow's patch it will be a huge nerf until the next week's patch gets in.

They previously did boost the Warp Plasma though. The +Plasma Damage from the [Pla] boosted all forms of Plasma Damage, both Exotic and Weapon.
Now it's just going to boost Exotic.
Folks that bought them to boost the Plasma Damage of their Plasma Energy Weapons (both the actual damage and the DoT) as well as folks using them for the DoTs on their Projectiles (Torps/Mines)...are now SoL.
They're also "fixing" the One Proc, All Proc...stating that it was unintended behavior.
Which is where it gets into perhaps holding off on when the reset is done, depending on just how that change ends up...cause that's not coming tomorrow, don't know when that will happen...
...meh, it's frustrating when all they needed was a tweak for the numbers at Mk XIII/XIV - instead, it's nerf city all over the place.

The question was whether the new stuff was going to be exotic. The answer was "no." As to the intended plans that they haven't done yet, it will simply add plasma damage, regardless of type. If you use plasmas it will work just fine. In the meantime, I'm not sure about how the nerfed version will react until they rebuild the consoles to the future standard they want. That could be a month or so (given Cryptic schedules).
EDIT: I see the discussion has turned to the point that it will benefit exotic damage, but that's not what I was replying to. I read the post as "will it BE exotic" and was replying in that mindset.

Is it getting turned into Exotic? No, the +Plasma Damage isn't getting turned into Exotic - but it's no longer going to benefit both Weapon and Exotic Damage.
In case you missed my other post, I'm going to ask my question about exotic damage again:
These consoles could be used to boost eject warp plasma and the damage dealt by the particle emission plasma torpedo's particle cloud. With the loss of the plasma damage increase, I take it that won't be the case anymore?
This is correct - that effect will be lost in this conversion process.
I'd like to find a way to hold onto it, but I don't see how it's possible without creating interactions we don't want.
We figured out a way to keep the +Plasma Damage affecting Exotic Damage abilities (such as Eject Warp Plasma and Plasma Shockwave) without also spilling those benefits into unintended areas.
Player-facing, this will just look as though this Tooltip:
+8.4% Plasma Damage
... becomes this Tooltip:
+8.4% Plasma-based Exotic Damage
Hope that addresses some of the recent round of concerns.
So the folks that were using the [Pla] consoles to boost their Weapon Plasma Damage will be losing that.
But it's important to note that this rebuild addresses an unintended behavior we were seeing, where if one Console activated, ALL of your equipped consoles would go off. The rebuild rolls this change individually for each Console. So while you can get 3, 4, or 5 Plasma Explosions on a single hit, the odds are exceedingly unlikely.
This is what I posted as a pseudo question, asking if I was reading what was being said as right...
...in questioning what was said here:
that's for 1 proc though. I'm talking about more procs over the whole event. Yes it's obvious that each single proc is nerfed but over the whole event you get more dice to roll. I may be wrong, but isn't that better?

Sticking with the 3x consoles, currently it rolls three times for each shot - if one of the rolls procs, then all three consoles will proc. The current change listed in that thread suggests that you'll still have the three rolls, but you'll no longer get all three procs if one procs.
It still hasn't been answered whether there will be a change to when the rolls are made - per shot, per cycle, any sort of internal CD change sort of thing.
But as it stands now, it's going to mean the same number of rolls for fewer procs...the "exceedingly unlikely" that he mentions.
Which won't just be the [Pla], since they're changing the consoles themselves. So currently where if you had 3x [HuH] or [ShH] - one proc, all proc...no more if that change gets to Tribble and then to Holodeck. One proc, one proc.

ah see, I didn't think about that. I guess we're stuck with testing on tribble. IDK if he's going to answer questions in that thread again.
Virus... it's different but it's not a nerf. I'm not reading it the same way you are. I hadn't seen the latest one you quoted "plasma-based exotic damage" -- okay my mistake there.
However, it will still apply to weapons, it seems. That's the entire point of the console. It's adding a proc to existing weapons. (and now, exotic skills too).
I think there's a lot of over-reacting going on about this one change, right now. It doesn't look nearly as bad as you suggest. The "extremely unlikely" just means that the odds are not in favor of triggering it 5x at once if you have 5 consoles, but it should trigger at least once or twice much more regularly, and in the long run you will get more consistency from it.
This is to be expected, since the "fire one, fire all" was a broken mechanic based on every other part of this game that relies on rolled die. Prime example: Doffs that reduce some sort of cooldown. Each doff gets its own roll. Procing all three may be rare, but you'll more than likely get at least one every time. Now increase those odds to 5 rolls? It's just math. The odds aren't in favor of you hitting all 5 in a row in a single try. That's not necessarily a nerf, since I think everybody knew the "fire one, fire all" was broken from the start.

Currently, a [Pla] console adds the following...
+X% Plasma Damage
2.5% chance: X Plasma damage over 15 seconds
That first part, the +X% Plasma Damage is being removed. It used to affect both Exotic and Weapon Plasma Damage. It's being replaced with +X% Exotic Plasma Damage. It's no longer going to provide the buff to Weapon Exotic Damage.
Yes, the 2.5% chance: X Plasma damage over 15 seconds is getting changed into a 2.5% chance: X Plasma damage; and that will apply to energy weapons whether Plasma, AP, Tetryon, whatever.
But say you were doing a Partigens build with Plasma Torps...doing some Emission and Hyper, where the console currently boosts the Exotic Plasma and the Plasma DoT of the Emission and the Plasma DoT of the Hyper...with those changes, it's no longer going to boost the DoTs. Maybe somebody ran the Emission, Hyper, Omega, Corrosive Torp & Mine...the DoTs from those will no longer be boosted by [Pla] whenever that particular change is made.

Dual Proc weapons, the hybrid weapons with two 2.5% procs listed...proc one, proc both. It's a common mechanic in the game. It existed before the Rom Sci Consoles did.
edit: And heh, as far as folks overreacting - I haven't seen anybody but myself flipping out about it. :P
It's just back when Archon made the changes to the Plasma Infusers so they no longer boosted Exotic Plasma, it was a bit of a fight/convincing to get him to make [Pla] not just Energy Plasma but Exotic as well as the DoTs on torps. Now they're talking about removing both the Energy (DD & DoTs) and Projectile DoTs.

That's simply not the case. If 3 consoles granted 3 chances each of which would proc all 3 dots, you would expect that moving from 1 console to two, I would see 4x the damage and 4x the plasma attacks per second, and going from 1 two 3, I would see 9x the damage and 9x the plasma attacks per second.
However, my testing has showed me that I'm going from roughly 1 to 2x to 3x. So, since we know that it procs all 1, 2, 3, whatever at the same time, the only possible conclusion I can draw is that there's only one roll.
I'm tired of hearing that thrown around. It may be a minor advantage, since technically it should be a 2.438 chance, not 2.5%, but that would be a penalty to stacking them, and not having a penalty is not the same as having an advantage. Currently, the only actual advantage derived from stacking [Pla] consoles is that the dot scales with the bonus plasma damage the consoles grant.

hmmm well if that's the case, then it will be better. I guess we'll all have to go test on tribble when the changes get there.

Will the console now default to buffing Plasma weapons only?
EAP's going from 50%/-50 DRR to 5%/-5 DRR.
The console on the other hand...
