Nice new ships - but I won't buy

vocmcpvocmcp Member Posts: 1,134 Arc User
We'll be getting some new ships soon. I love the look of the Rommie one but I won't buy them. Too much grind, to little value in return. Plus an ill fated decision regarding Klingons. I won't be Cryptics cash cow to milk.

p.s. sorry about the sig Taco. I hope you can see it criticizes a management decision and not your work as a developer. Plus it's clear stated and constructive :)

I'm afraid I'm with you. My RR character doesn't get enough playtime for me to invest in a RR ship (command or otherwise), I'm quite content with my three T5U FED ships, and whilst I had wanted a new KDF ship, the three new ones on offer make me want to throw up. If that wasn't enough, I don't enjoy the game at the moment, probably need a break. After the Dilithium event I think!

3000zen for what is essentially a ship trait just isn't worth it.

I will grind dil for the right ship. But pay? Not now. Maybe never again. The treatment of my faction was abysmal and I am in protest mode... it would take 4 or more unique ships (not a family like 3 of the same TRIBBLE with 1 console moved around) before I even considered paying money again. And that needs to happen before new years 2015. Oh, wait.

I'll also be taking a pass on these ships. Didn't like the look of them (sorry ship artists, I do love you guys though). Also so over the STO grind.

Here's hoping some day we can use any specialization on any ship (Fleet T6 Universal slots maybe?)
Delta Rising is the best expansion ever and the players love it! No, seriously! ...Why are you laughing so hard? :(

It's a good thing I still love my Fed Roms, even though they can't access Fed T6 (they should be able to access their allies own T6s; guaranteed extra sales of those T6s for the few Rom purists, and zero loss to Cryptic's income. Not to mention; further pads their beloved Fed side). I definitely will be buying the Romulan 3 pack for them, provided their stats are reasonable enough to get them out of their Faeht.

I'm still on the fence regarding the Fed Command ships though. Never liked the Oberth hull setup, just like I didn't like it on the Fuzzyprise. I could live with it if the tail end can be cut off with alternate hull options.

Somebody bought zen for that dil........ that's all they care about. I also won't be getting the ships with dil.

Why are you only playing one faction? Seems perverse.

and all I care about is keeping my money until there is something worth spending it on, so everyone's a winner.

With them all having hangars I may be tempted to leave my Vesta, however I am more likely to hold out for a full T6 carrier for all factions. Saying that I will have to see what they look like in game and not just in a pic.

While tying ships to specs with the special seat will improve the longevity of T6 it also means if the new hotness is completely old and busted by the next spec I'll have to *REALLY* like a T6 ship to buy one since that will involve leveling a captain to train the III specialization skills.

As it is a spec will have to wow me to get me to invest points in it if my reserve isn't maxed. If you aren't grinding Argala the levels don't flow in all that fast and I'd hate to waste all those hours on a spec/ship I don't like.
This is my Risian Corvette. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

Anyway, if you still want DPS or mega debuffing, Intel ships is still the only line.

Now if you want to tank and support, Command ships is what looks to be the new thing.

We just need either a Vanguard DPS/Tanking or a Mad Scientist Sci AoE/Tanking Primary Specialization.

    I'll wait for a T6 intel Scimitar. :)

Spending 3000zen or 100+mil EC for current ship traits is not worth it.
They will release better ship traits latter.
New ships are always better otherwise they would not sell.

I'm happy with the T5-U Scimitar I already captain. :)

I'm thinking of just getting the Romulan ones. Though I already deleted my science romulan because I was tired of waiting for a T6 science warbird or any science warbird at the T6 level. Not regretting that decision even though these ships are coming out because of the amount of grind to gear a ship up. My remaining romulan characters can use them and if the engie one is really good I might keep the last alt toon I was planning on deleting which is a romulan engie.

Sadly, 3,000 people can take this stance and cryptic will loose $2,000. But as soon as one whale comes along and spend $5,000 on lockbox ships+zen ships+zen items, the stance the 3,000 people took will be pointless.

This game caters to whales and those that love to grind. After a while I can't blame CBS anymore for what goes on, I can't blame the Perfect World overlords anymore and I can't even blame Cryptic anymore. It's so mucked up that I don't know who to blame, because everyone seems to have an equal part in this disaster.
One day Cryptic will be free from their Perfect World overlord. Until that day comes, they will continue to pamper the whales of this game, and ignore everyone that isn't a whale.

grind all those points for command specialization

    Buy the shinny new ship

upgrade the equipment for millions in resources

And then make 4x the dilithiun reward on dyson ground with mk12 free rep gear

make 4x the xp with mk12 rep gear at argula

Why do we need the new ships ? or command specialization for that matter

To do a advanced space stf with a 720 dilithium reward faster ?

    Absurd
    Jellico....Engineer ground.....Da'val Romulan space Sci
Saphire.. Science ground......Ko'el Romulan space Tac
    Leva........Tactical ground.....Koj Romulan space Eng

JJ-Verse will never be Canon or considered Lore...It will always be JJ-Verse

I don't really like being this person, but this phrase you keep throwing around (here and in the title of your other thread) is the wrong one. Unless you have a time machine, or some other way to see the actual ramifications of the decision, you cannot know that it is ill-fated. I believe the term that you're grasping for is ill-advised.

Example: France's decision to rely n the Maginot Line as their primary means of defense against German aggression between the World Wars proved to be ill-fated in retrospect when the Germans simply went around it.
This is an MMO, not a Star Trek episode simulator. That would make for a terrible game.

Same. Command Specialisation slots are all well and good but I see no point in them until you rebalance the rate at which you can acquire Specialisation points with which to purchase the abilty to train said specialisation.

At the rate we're going, my main will be able to train Command boffs in...about eight million years. Ergo, I can't see the point in buying these. Nice as they are, they're just not necessary.

Also, too much focus on Eng/Tac. Needs moar Science. T6 Luna anyone?
You're just a machine. And machines can be broken.

All I can say is that they could have done better with the design. If cryptic's design team have ran out of ideas or don't have a more creative spirit why not do a contest and open up to the playerbase like they do with screenshot contest. I'm sure the playerbase has some really neat input like:

    Enterprise X

    Enterprise J

    Enterprise H

    temporal incursion

    Phoenix class

    Vengeance class

among others...running out of creative steam in an MMO that tries to make money is not very smart...just IMO.

Because last time they did that for the Oddy it was restricted to the US only and the brown stuff hit the fan when the Oddy won, let alone before the final result. I don't think they would do that again.

Some of the designs look alright, hard to tell if I'd like them or not without seeing them in 3d. Either way I won't be buying any of them. The game is barely playable right now. I crash to desktop a lot and my boffs are still getting dumped from their stations when I change maps.

I won't be buying these for a while. Using Dil isn't going to happen either. Since I'm using the Dil for ship gear upgrades. After doing the Delta Rep, and cashing in the marks. I have enough for it.

If/when I do get around to buy one. The Fed or Romulan will be on my list. I hate the KDF look on these.

If it takes you 8 million years just to grind 500k EC or so for the Specialization Token off the Exchange to train 1 Boff in Command, you're clearly playing the game wrong.

For around 300k on the exchange, you can buy a Specialization token under the Intel tab to traind any Boff into Intel (they all come with the same basic Intel set). Then you just search for and pay for the Rank III abilities you want/need.

Command also already has some Rank III skills and the Specialization token available on the exchange as well. Those were going for 400k or so for the Command Spec and more than that for Rank III skills.

It's really just a matter of how badly you need those Rank III skills and the Specialization PADD. The Specialization tokens are Ultra Rare in color and rarity, if you need help searching them up.

lol :D Sorry, but with the exception of the Phoneix all of those look like junk. Especially that Enterprise-J garbage scow, I still wish I had a time machine so I could erase that hideous monstrosity out of existence. Must have been some helluva strong stuff they took when they designed that one. :D
