Captains! Star Trek Online wants to thank all of you for making these last 5 years amazing! We're kicking off our anniversary celebrations early starting next week, with tons of free gifts for you to enjoy!
Even if I end-up not being able to take advantage of any of the item(s) I will still appreciate the offer.
If the past is any indication they usually like to build-up to the biggest giveaway for the last day.
Have they ever had an option like "choose your giveaway reward" like they do for mission rewards?
That might alleviate & still offer viable gifts for those that may already have the giveaway prize.
An option like that wouldn't have to be another C-Store item, but perhaps a Dilithium package or something for an example of multiple opportunities.
That way, no matter what, everybody gets a little something as a gift.
This would be an excellent idea to see implemented for future giveaways!

Looking for a new fleet? Drop by the in-game chat channel, "tenforwardforum", and say hi to the members of A Fleet Called Ten Forward (Fed) and The Orion Pirates (KDF). If you already have a fleet you are happy with, please feel free to drop by our chat channel if you are looking for a friendly bunch of helpful people to socialize with.
Looking forward to it. Always enjoy the giveaway event, even when its something I have, there's always a friend who didn't and I can share their happiness. So thank you!
I hope they giveaway the license to a more reputable studio that is what I am hoping.
Dude, not cool... You do realise that it's most likely PWE pushing the monetisation (of dilithium etc) that has been going on and not Cryptic specifically?
Less dilithium in-game means less to be converted to Zen and, in theory, more Zen purchased and who ultimately benefits from this move? PWE...
PWE would even have a hand in the lack of bug fixing, as bug fixes are often time consuming and cost money, while generating no calculable income...
Wishing for people to lose their jobs, regardless of how much issue you might have with their work, is really poor form...
If you really have such a chip on your shoulder over what's going on in STO, maybe it's you who should move on, just saying...
Another week of giveaways, another week I'm out of town working.
STO runs on even pretty crappy laptops (I have a 4 year old Core 2 Duo with integrated graphics, and it starts up just fine). It may not be playable, but it does run well enough to log in and claim items or do DOFF missions.
Brace yourselves, paying users complaining about f2p users getting stuff are coming.
Seriously though, thank you guys for this. I know the dev team gets a lot of flack these days but some of us really appreciate little things like this. A present is a present.
Next Wednesday Q will arrive early and remove all timers from missions. I just know it.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard: "We think we've come so far. Torture of heretics, burning of witches, it's all ancient history. Then - before you can blink an eye - suddenly it threatens to start all over again."
"With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censured, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably."
my guess:
1. we will get the same costume options like every year
2. we will get new boff slots that will become useless with the new boff skill training
3. we will get the most uggly bridges that were not sold in 2014
4. we will get a useless non-combat pet
5. we will get one of the 1000xp reward packs
keep this list stored and check the points when they are rewarded
A nice free C-store ship. Not necessarily top of the line but a nice one that will save players $20. We're the ones keeping the game rolling, and it will prove that you do care about us all. One ship for each faction.
Seriously, it's been 5 years now, and there are still bugs in this game that have been around since before STO launched back in 2010.
Are you folks familiar with the saying "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth". Free stuff is free stuff.
Doesn't matter that i probably have the give away items already, because it is the thought that counts.
Edit:
What does the giveaway on the 26th have to do with the borg and the bajoran wormhole though. Or is there yet another event on route for the 26th?
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
What I need:
-Some more account bank slots, which are way overpriced by the way, you jerks.
-Two more character slots.
-A rename token for my Klingon, Bol'lox.
-Six fleet ship tokens.
-An upgrade token.
-A lockbox key, or keys.
What I'll probably get:
-A 10% skill boost.
-A 10% fleet mark boost.
-The cheapest shuttle available.
-An uncapping of my already uncapped 10mil EC limit.
-A tribble, because STO knows I hate tribbles.
Keep your free gifts. I'll be exploring the galaxy if you need me.
Comments
Now if only the ones who aren't saying so would drop their issues for a moment... at the very least, this thread isn't the place to mention them.
Been playing STO since Open Beta, and have never regarded anything as worse than 'meh', if only due to personal standards.
A present is a present - appreciate it. The game's come a long way from where it started. Generally in a good direction.
Member Access Denied Armada!
My forum single-issue of rage: Make the Proton Experimental Weapon go for subsystem targetting!
This would be an excellent idea to see implemented for future giveaways!

Even if I already have it - it's appreciated for those who don't.
Free cool stuff is always good.
And thanks for the game.

your always out of town working, thought of getting a laptop and mobile internet dongle, that's what I use when im working away from home.
thanks for the goodies what ever they are.
When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.
I can't wait for all the entitled raging from people who already have what's given away... should be worth a chuckle.

Really wish they would institute a 300 sec forum post cd and 1000 dilith per post charge , maybe that would help with all the constant whine.
The "Dancing Girls"!!!

And happy 5th anniversary to the STO team.
This game has given me some great times over the years. Just wanted to say I'm thankful for having had the chance to experience it. Happy 5th.
That was completely uncalled for. And completely unnecessary.
On a more positive note, free stuff!! Yay!!! Thanks Cryptic!
"With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censured, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably."
Thank you, Cryptic.
I look forward to the free TNG Romulan outfit. <g>
A lot of us must be buying stuff to keep the game alive, so my list doesn't feel unreasonable. Please and thank you.
- Respec token
- R&D Pack
- Master key pack
- Tier 4 ship, faction specific, with a unique console
1. we will get the same costume options like every year

Yup, that would be the most awesome giveaway they could do.
