Despite my reg date on the forum, I'm a long timer since 2010. I don't need the parser as it tells me nothing I can't really work out for myself. I also pay zero attention to posted parsers as, as it has already been mentioned, they aren't 100%. I'd much prefer a battle report from the game's own engine IF I wanted to know.
Just a heads up. CLR is used by the Dev's to parse data for the game. They don't have their own parser because CLR is better than the one they used. It literally takes straight from Game data (the combatlog) and turns it into human readable information. Therefore to claim you can't learn from it is a fallacy, it's mainly just stubbornness.
I'm not saying you should, but it certainly helps to see what areas aren't doing much to help and what areas are working well. For instance many of the clicky consoles are just a waste of a slot that could be holding something far more useful for your build.
Despite your opinion on DPS builds, my build covers alot of functions in the event there isn't 'enough' DPS or to help give the higher DPS chance to destroy. Being prepared for multiple situations is as valuable as DPS, even in a DPS race. Seriously, you should see chat when no-one is throwing a GW when it's needed, or TBR when space needs cleaning and the debuffs and Photonic Fleet more than compensate for my lower DPS in a Sci.
TBH there's no reason a properly specced Sci can't do decent DPS. It's true they can't match Tac's very easily, but a strong Part Gen or Exotic Damage build will definitely get up to the early 20's to 30K+ with the right setup. The CC is less important than taking out certain targets in ISA, whereas in KVA or Cure it can be very useful to have some CC. I'm mostly aiming for a Grav Well + Reverse TBR build for my Sci, with the ability to switch out the DoFF for reversal for No Win Scenario. Should be fun, but it's last on my list of upgrades due to stupid unbalanced upgrade costs.
Chris Robert's on SC:
"You don't have to do something again and again and again repetitive that doesn't have much challange, that's just a general good gameplay thing."
@leemwatson: playing the game for a long time doesn't mean you know everything or that you can't learn something from a parser. I never said that a science build isn't viable or appreciated when done right. A 5k science build that throws grav wells in isa usually just delays the inevitable. Besides a good build will be able to self heal, cc and deal out the dps, depending on what ship you are running all three can be accomplished. i have a couple of ships that I put out a grav well and do over 15k dps with mkxii gear, tetryon iirc - I like blue. Healing, crowd control is not mutually exclusive now a days.
I have gotten plenty of first places in cca because of self heals exclusively. With the amount of aggro that I pull in pugs not having flexible self sufficient builds is a death sentence.
I've had plenty of 1st's too in CCA with my Sci ships. I prefer all my ships as multi-role vessels, and yes, I do also ensure they can tank and heal loads as well as do lots of DoT/AoE/Debuff/AoE heals/Control etc, etc and I like Rom-Plasma builds. I've played long enough to know what builds get the best out of how I play.
But a parser really will not benefit me at all. I have been playing games for over 30 years, have a head for figures, tactics and strategy (Chess....who'd have thought that would have helped!) and tracking multiple abilities is a doddle. Just because I don't believe the 'Bigger is always better' attitude, it doesn't make me an inferior player, like some would like to say.
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.

Such ignorance. My Sci-pilots would just laugh now (having a broad portfolio to respond for missions while leaving behind most tacs) if such ignorance werent just so sad. As if having a gw means you can just stop improving...
That aside, the battle report comes from the game, the parser just compiles it to be readable.

Lol. A) that's what all log parsers do, and there several knocking about. I'd like to see some proof its now what the devs use, and is the sole parser that the devs use.

1. What ignorance?
2. Where did I say GW stopped the need for improving? I'm always improving my equipment thanks.
3. The BR/Parser only reads what's in range!
4. Lastly, stop trying to troll when I am making valid points! Too many trolls using 'ignorance', 'asinine' and 'you're the reason why human evolution has stalled' when you don't even understand what's being said!

Talk about the pot calling the kettle black...other points are valid.
If you've come to the forums to complain about the AFK system, it's known to be bugged at the moment.
Give it up Woody you know those guys are lost. Didnt we have enough of them to deal with trying hard to explain. Schnittlauch is calling

What would a new player reading this thread think about community and the game.
So next time you make a post, think about will it help the game grow or not.
