im sick and tired of being insulted because i cant pump out 30k dps or higher when i go into stf's. i play the game to have fun not to have a megaship that id have to wallet up anyhow. if u have a mega damage ship, enjoy it but DONT INSULT ME. quickest way to my ignore list. i think cryptic needs to disable whatever dps readers exist just so the players running em cant insult other players.

no worries mate just play the game the way you want and to hell with what others think
In Combatlog Reader, you are able to see Healing, how much Dmg you take in, and a few other things. If someone on a team is contributing in a way other than DPS, you can still see it by looking at all of the info in CLR.
And usually the dps-guy in a pug will have the highest dps, damage in and heal (not counting the valdore-console here!), and its a one in a million chance that someone will know how to use TBR efficiently (GW seems easier to handle). DPSers know, that you cant consider teamhealing when you pug and hence are an island of their own (at least the good ones).
But its really underwhelming when you get players in advanced/elite, who are getting owned dps-wise by a single fleet support. Those should stay in normal, which is built for them or up their dps a bit, which, honestly,is very easy with missiongear/free doffs alone.
correct. the other 2 (not probe guards) took a gate down too fast. i was working solo on the other side and mentioned it. said "this is being done wrong the other gate shouldve been left alive (but low health) until gate 2 was caught up. one of the others said "yea ur running it wrong ur damage sucks". we were already down to 4 i left em with 3 and did things in real life. i hope they failed due to that one.
They are correct, your tactic is antique and a lot more timeconsuming, as their would still be a split-up of teamdamage. Extrapolating from what I know of you now, I doubt they had problems compensating.
I started playing because I wanted to fly the ships I grew up watching on TV. I wanted to confront the romulan warbird in a galaxy class starship, and face down the Borg in a sovereign. I wanted to play through an undine encounter with an intrepid. And ya know what? I did, and I did it all with canon setups. Phasers and photons on the galaxy, phasers and quantum's up front on the sovereign, and photons in the rear, phasers, photons, and tricobalts on the intrepid. This is what games are supposed to do. They allow you to be yourself. Just because I don't pump out 100k dps in an overpowered little escort that never existed in the show I watched doesn't give you the right to judge me or my playstyle. I'm actually having fun. You're too preoccupied with dps to actually enjoy the game. Go join a dps channel, and stop acting superior to the players who want nothing to do with your dps fanclub.

If you are playing by yourself, you can do whatever. If you join a team, you have to consider the other four players, no? In joining those four other players, don't you have to consider the content? There's a big difference between ignoring folks with their personal wishes/requirements for what folks do and ignoring that you're on a team with four other players with content that has requirements...wouldn't you agree?

That depends on what you do. Do you play in a team, where you have to pull your weight? Do you play even advanced or elite, where you will pull more weight? Nobody cares what you do when play solo. But when playing in a team, you should not be an hindrance to success or dead weight.
If you think you are entitled to play/have fun on the expense of others, who will have to pull your weight through, you should rewatch the shows...

Because the game is becoming more work than play, I suggest that when you find something left in the game that is fun for you, then do it. As long as you are not trolling, then enjoy playing the way you like.
If anyone has a problem with it, ignore them, and don't make their problem yours. If you're not doing as high DPS as they want you to, and it upsets them, then let it. That is their problem. I just click ignore on someone when they are being a D-Bag. That gives you the ability to silence them, and keep playing. Lol.

If someone is having issues with members of the DPS League then the correct action would be to contact one of the admins and provide some kind of proof. a bad action would be to post on the forums and **** on everyone with DPS.
So this guy had issues with some guys in a pug KSA run... how does he know they are from the DPS league? Where they wearing their Elitist badges that we hand out to everyone? It seems like the only evidence he has is: "they do DPS and insulted me therefor they are from the DPS League".
Some information for you: anyone and everyone who parses over 10k in ISA and has their parse uploaded to the DPS League gets invited to the channels.
We're up to around 2 thousand people in the 10k channel. We don't give anyone a personality adjustment when they join. You'll get nice people and *******s. The admins only moderate what goes on in the channels. If one member is harrassing another member then **** gets taken care of. ask anyone who knows me; i kick first and ask questions after.
Whatever happens outside the channels, for example in a pug run, has nothing to do with the channels or their administration.
someone used Sarcasm on the internet? woah stahp this madness.
I dunno man, when these epeen overlords mouth off, it's quite entertaining. Fortunately not all of them regress into 5 year olds when you can't reach their level of epicly awesome numbers. Just the bad ones.
Try not to take it seriously. Just kick back, have a beer, and quietly laugh at how they treat STO like super serious business.
couldnt have said it better myself. my advice is the same. ignore em. if they dont like your dps then they can kiss your backside.

Side question. How does one identify members of your league if they do not announce themselves? Regardless, if one were to take a snapshop of such abusive behavior and send to one of you (whom, exactly?) what, if anything, would be done?
You said it yourself - you have over 2k players in your 10K channel alone. Just how can you expect to manage the attitude/behaviour of that many people?

To be blunt i only care about issues between members of the channels or stuff that happens in a channel run.
The only leverage we have is that we can kick people from the channels.
To be more blunt: no one person represents the whole DPS League. There are a lot of different people with different opinions and personalities, even among the admins.

actually you seem to have injected yourself into the thread trying to make it about the dps league or channels. He never said it was he put a title to a thread that did not point to any channels or guilds or fleets.
However it does seem that no matter what the guy says the dps league channel is making it about them. He did not use any names or anything. The only thing that happened was that the issue seemed to filter into that channel but it didnt start there.
In other words a player was harassed and a bunch of people took the info and started to gossip about it in their channel. So had you not said a word in this thread no one would have brought it up I dont think. So I guess one can say this channel/league whatever is taking credit for the behaviour of that player.
Because he was not in the dps channel. He did not mention the channel his post was not about that channel. The DPS channel league whatever they are called made it about their channel.

That's fair enough and thank you for the info.
So, just to clarify, let's say I go into a pug and pull only about 3-5K dps and get some yahoo going ballistic. Other than placing this guy on ignore I should take a snapshot of the abuse and sent it one of the above? Will those listed take such reports seriously or will it be ignored, set aside as someone's 'whining'?
Not to be so blunt, but the question must be raised: is it worth it to actually do anything more than place these ppl on ignore? As an aside, this, to me, is the most appropriate action for anyone who wishes to be vulgar or belligerent in the game, DPS completely irrelevant.
PuG'ing PvE content is one of those things you do at your own risk. Sometimes you get a decent time, sometimes you get a complete clusterfu... :P Try not to assume everyone who does 30k+ DPS is a part of the DPS League. Whether STO, Destiny, or any other game with some form of line play. You are bound to run into the occasional self-proclaimed elitist clown.

I've had to retype my reply here a few times, because I did not want to draw the ire of the mods with my reply. Suffice to say, imho, this thread is ridiculous...somebody crying on the forums because somebody "insulted" their DPS in a Star Trek MMO. I'd hate to think what would happen if the OP ever stubbed a toe or got a papercut.
^--- pretty much ---^
I mean, sure - if they're being sexist, racist, nationalist, bashing religion, sexual persuasion, all sorts of things - one could see even with it being a random person on the internet, taking issue with it.
We're talking DPS in a Star Trek MMO...lol...I mean...lol...lol...lol. WTF?
it ruins the gaming experience when someone comes in and is completely rude. i agree with one of the other posters. id rather take some low DPS guys who are playing the game for fun over some supership that is rude. heck, ur probably one of em. imho u can take ur reply and shove it where the sun doesnt shine.

Those are the names of some of the Admins of the DPS channels. So unless the hypothetical yahoo claims to be speaking on behalf of the DPS League, what happens in a pug run doesn't concern us.
In such a case it would be better to report to the GMs instead.

with a reply like that last line, i'm starting to believe your attitude and behavior is probably what caused all the belligerence towards you in that KSA run.
There are two sides to every story, and i believe you've whitewashed your own bad behavior with your OP and portraid yourself as victim when you are probably (at least partially) to blame.

i didnt say it was a person from the channel. in fact i just kind of picked a common number. i manage to contribute wherever im at. i dont want a godly amount of dps because if everyone starts doing godly amounts of dps the missions become too easy and then the devs start making them even harder and then new players cant even begin to compete or even have fun for the years itll take to catch up to the elitists who decide to insult them and make them feel bad. from the conversation i read that was linked earlier in the thread, no punitive action was taken against the person insulting within the channel save for a slap on the wrist "and u need to stop that". what i meant was if its that big of an issue for them, join one of the elitist channels and dont insult other players.
with a reply like that last line, i'm starting to believe your attitude and behavior is probably what caused all the belligerence towards you in that KSA run.

read on down. i put what i said in chat that brought the comment out. u seem to not be good about reading everything or ud have caught in my OP that this wasnt about DPS league.
This afternoon based on a first hand account I trust a player was openly bullied by 3 members of the DPS league on his team. The bullying continued into private messages outside of the team and DPS chat channels.
This is such a divisive issue and is really down to how Cryptic have managed the game or not. I've been on both sides having had low and then built my DPS up to what I'd consider a respectable level, being around 30k DPS in a cannon escort.
Firstly there is no reason for any vitriol or ascerbic comments in team chat during or after an STF for example. If you pug something, you know there is a great chance you will fail. So make sure you are OK with that idea. Feel free to offer help and tips to the other players, hopefully they will take it on.
If it is the first time you see someone struggling in ISA they may not know the strategy over normal, so cut them a break. They may only contribute 1-2k DPS, but they have to start somewhere. Be patient with them. They may be having along the way, so try not to ruin the game for them.
Conversely for the lower DPS people, be prepared that if you can't handle ISN for example, you won't handle ISA. So when you do get messages or mail, it isn't always necessarily bad. Some people genuinely want to help you and in my case, I've been doing that with my fleet this week.
But if you don't ask for help, consider any advice given or are not that bothered and you end up seeing the same players a lot, consider the impact you're having on their fun. You may also want to think about whether the harder queues are for you.
If you've come to the forums to complain about the AFK system, it's known to be bugged at the moment.
im sick and tired of being insulted because i cant pump out 30k dps or higher when i go into stf's. i play the game to have fun not to have a megaship that id have to wallet up anyhow. if u have a mega damage ship, enjoy it but DONT INSULT ME. quickest way to my ignore list. i think cryptic needs to disable whatever dps readers exist just so the players running em cant insult other players.
Are you sure, you did spend enough $$$ on this game? Because DPS is the main philosophy of STFs and Delta Rising is pushing it to a whole new level. iIf i am not wrong, the only thing you do is to kill, kill, kill ... just think about it.

Out of sheer curiosity, where does one upload parses to said DPS League? I do 20k easily in ISA these days (courtesy of Geko and his power creep).
Thx.
You just need to use CombatLogParser on DPS Channel settings (which I believe are set by default), and then hit Upload on a parse of ISA.
Cool. Thx!
