Sorry for the newbie question,but today i finally get the 1000 pics for my escort tactical tier 6 ship,should i claim it with my main and just wait for the issue to be fixed then claim the same ship (heard i cant change the type which is a shame since i wanted a science vessel for my other alt) with my other characters? Already have the 40 pics stored in the bank.
Maybe i could give it a try thou,heard that only some people get this bug,not all of them.

Doing the project for the Chel Grett (warship) will only unlock the discount for the Chel Grett. Unfortunately at this moment, many people appear to be having an issue where if they got the Chel Grett the first year they are not getting the discount for characters with this year's event. Many people that have done the project for the Chel Grett for the first time with this event are also not getting the discount. Personally, I have not seen many complaints from folks that did it the second year - but that does not mean there are not any people experiencing that issue.
The same goes for doing the project for the Plesh Brek (heavy raider) and the Sarr Theln (carrier). They only unlock the discount for that particular ship.
Like the Chel Grett, I have not personally seen many complaints of people that unlocked the Plesh Brek last year. The people that ran it for the first time this year, there have been many people experiencing an issue of no discount being applied.
This was the first year for the Sarr Theln, and I can't remember seeing more than a couple of confusing complaints raised about it as to whether the discount applied for them or not.
They started on a fix for it back at the start of the event when the issues were first reported, but it didn't make it out before they went on holidays (happy new to you as well, by the way). With the event ending on the 15th, meaning that it ends before the server goes down for maintenance - the hope is that the fix is pushed out this Thursday, as it is the last scheduled maintenance before the event ends. Otherwise, with the current fix they have in place on the test server - if it is not pushed out before the 15th, they would have to extend the event for the fix to work. Can't talk to Q if Q isn't there to talk to sort of thing.

i'd suggest waiting for a while. you can still claim the ship(s) around the end of the event, when it might get fixed and allow you to get them for discount for all your alts.
if it's still not fixed until jan 14, then it should be ok to claim the bugged ships since other than a possible event extension there's a good chance it won't be fixed this year, so at least some of your characters will have the ship until next year.
Now clowns, that's another story. They scare the crap out of me.

Actually, they did fix it. Tribble has had multiple fix methods that were confirmed to be fully-WORKING since the start of the event. But ARE they going to make the fix live on Holodeck? Now that is a different issue.
I got the Grett the first year will all 8 toons i had at the time, then last year up to 13 toons and picked up the raider. Now this year one of the 5 who didn't get the Grett just finished running the 25 races still no discount.
My first Winter Event in STO - I joined the game in early 2014. Just finished all 3 Ships. Never got any of current winter ships before. Got Discount for T6 carrier and still need 1 000 pics to get Grett and Plesh on alts.
Yeah. The fix exists on Tribble, but they're not going to pull it over to Holodeck until probably next week the 8th. Why? Because right now, there's probably a large number of people mass-buying keys for lobi to trade in for Q Items to burn up to another 1000 to get their ship due to the discount not working, I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if Cryptic were simply riding this out letting it go on for as long as possible to see how much they make from it.

The discount on the new carrier T6 ships works. This ship was introduced this year.
The discount on the 2 older ships (raider and warship), is not yet working, if you got them for the first time through the rep system this year.

I did the Plesh Brek raider this year. There was NO account wide unlock. It remains at 1000 pictures required for all characters.
Had leftover pictures from last year, so got the Sarr Theln for my primary, then used the discount to pick up the Sarr Theln for my Romulan. Very pleased with the carrier's performance for my Rom engineer, so I ran the race on her to get the raiders and get the upgraded hangar pets. Got the raider (still haven't got enough dil to get the pets), then thought it might be nice to have the upgraded pets on my primary. No discount, despite unlocking it on my Romulan. It's not a big disappointment personally (I was given the fleet Oddy pack for Christmas), but having the raider pets would be nice for my other engineer. I suppose I can wait until they fix it, but if you were hoping for the upgraded carrier pets on multiple characters, I can see where that would be a big issue. Not WAI.

At beginning of Winter event Smirk said that we all get unlock discount on all Breen ships for this event. As we all know this is a issue which isn't resolved yet. Watch selected timestamp which someone reposted what smirk said on live stream.
As we all know there will only be one more maintenance before the event ends. This issue need to be resolved a.s.a.p. otherwise this community will be very upset.
We are aware with the issues with the Plesh Brek and Chel Gret.
There are fixes inbound, and they should go live this week. Keep an eye on the patch notes to be sure.

With as many players that are having the issues with the winter event ships the information about the fix should have been the MOST important thing going on at Cryptic. I can assure you some event in SanFran was the last thing many wanted to know about.

That is the problem, you shouldn't have had to write anything. It should have been communicated to us from the beginning. It was said there was a fix, but there was no reply or information when it wasn't pushed over from tribble after it worked. Even when players asked in this thread why it wasn't pushed over ...there was no reply except from other players. Sorry, but I like to hear it from the people who run the show. If they were going to fix it they should have slapped a sticky in RED somewhere and said WE ARE FIXING IT after Christmas. Leaving players to assumptions and no information on a fix isn't a great way to keep customers.
I have a slightly different problem. Unlocked Raider last event, discount works fine still; unlocked Carrier this event, discount works fine....
Re-unlocked Warship (Chell Grett) for 1000 Q pics THIS event, GOT DISCOUNT on ALL characters missing it from when it first launched years ago, but due to having to get the Carrier too, one missed out. Then I went for family Christmas stuff in real-life. Came back, went to get that one last character the ship...price back to 1000. For ALL characters now too.
So bleh, somehow the discount vanished through the New Year. And no time now to get 1000 even if i had the drive to do it.
They DID just get back from a long vacation. I'd say they were pretty quick getting the fix out, considering that.
Right, let us not discuss everybody taking a long vacation when the server and game has been having so many problems. It's good they're fixing it don't get me wrong. Taking a long vacation when there's so much wrong with your product is a lot like those CEO's taking Obama's relief and going on vacation.
