Today's patch is almost 3 gigs. Preparation for the winter event, perhaps? Or something else?
Mine says 975 MB. And it's been at 16% for about twenty minutes. Not quite glacial. Ice ages lasted for thousands of years. We're all just impatient to get back on STO.
The patch was pretty fast for me; was done in 20 minutes.
Then again, I started as soon as the patching server went live, even while the server light is red.
I'm guessing it's just that many are only now downloading the patch at the same time. In-game everything's running nice and smooth. Then again, ever since DR, I've had less lag but better graphics quality.
Anyway, the upgrade skin on T6s is another nice dark hull material. Haven't checked what the skin looks like on other non-Fed ships.
"Download speeds were showing anomalous numbers (aka, some people were patching 17x faster than elsewhere); therefore, we throttled it back. But, at the same time, we made the patch smaller. So, effectively, you can download just as fast as before."
Downloaded 1.7 gigs so far, been downloading for over 2 hours at this point. Seemingly sitting at 88%, but that's just the amount patched, not downloaded. With the slow speeds, I may only need another 2-3 megs to finish out the patch.
Unfortunately, I'm getting .1 mb every 15-20 seconds. At best. So that potential last 2-3 megs could end up taking a while.
Oh well, I was looking at getting back in after lunch, lunch is still 30 minutes away...
Might be pushing it, but I'm willing to bet I can be back in after lunch. We'll see if I'm right.

I've cancelled and restarted 5 times and it just eventually stops each time by 20%

Pretty good amount of fixes. Particularly happy about the fix to the Fleet tactical escorts shields. I thought it seemed a bit weaker than usual the other day.

That's because of on-demand patching ... don't worry you'll pay during every loading-screen, though :P
