Being able to code in a map is not equal to hunting, identifying the cause of and rectifying an obscure bug by any means
I can wire a plug but it doesn't make me a qualified Electrician
Agreed. Taco may know how to make and impliment maps, but many of the bugs we're facing are not environment related at all. Its more of a system or UI thing, which is deeper in the code. Everyone's got their job and Taco is doing his, which is make environments for us to enjoy.
Some people are just going to have to accept that no MMO is just going to drop EVERYTHING to fix bugs. Not even WoW will stop making content to fix bugs. Progress has to be made. And unfortunately... MMOs will always have bugs. Fact of life.
Does anyone remember back when the STF Borg kept breaking whenever they fixed something? Yea... some of these bugs might be down to that level, which is over Taco's head.
So please... stop abusing our elected Forum Overlord for doing his job and report bugs to the proper devs in Bort's Mobile Infantry... I mean Anti-Bug Department.
They'd rather waste time making an unnecessary overkill dance floor than fix the bugs that permeate this game.
Your lockbox key money hard at work.
My Old Blog about things that could and should have been added when I wrote it. Not sure what I want to do with it now. I'll just keep it available now that most of it is outdated.

Did anyone else notice what appears to be a new dance move?
Watch the girl dancing at the bottom of the screen. She does it right at the start and repeats it at time mark 0:22. The alien guy at 10 o'clock facing the camera does it to.
I wonder if it will be a reward upon the clubs reopening?
Edit: The guy the girl is dancing with does it to right after she does.

Club 47 was a waste of time. Yet another social space for a game that has no social interaction. Sure people go on team PVE but do you get anything other than a GG. Its not really needed.
You have:
Vulcan
Andoria
Bajor
Delfar
2 Risia zones
Q winter Holiday should be starting 2 weeks.
Captains table
So Club 47 could have been delayed for 10 years no one would have missed it.
We were using the Drozan station as a more mature party zone but it was revamped.
I even tried to get a Mirrior Universe party going one night.
So unless were planing on weekly events?
just like those weekly episodes that got cancelled?

Vulcan = Nothing to do. Close to ESD. No Incentive to go there other than its a Star Trek Location.
Andoria = Nothing to do. Close to ESD. No Incentive to go there other than its a Star Trek Location.
Bajor = Nice view. Close to DS9.
Defera = Battlezone. Minor hub out of zone.
Risa = Summer. good excuse to wear a bikini in STO.
Q's Winter Wonderland = ONLY available during Winter Event.
Captain's Table = Lifer only club.
Drozana = Red Light District of STO.
Club 47 was a part of ESD, and is being brought back. Its a fun thing and good meeting place. You obviously missed the party on ESD the night before they switched the map. Club 47 was pretty active.
Also... Zone Chat on ESD tends to be active, and every once in a while DS9 gets going again.
this right here shows exactly what is wrong with the world today..
oh, he didn't break it, he shouldn't have to fix it.. its a company, when I was in college, I worked at the home depot, my job description was to cooridinate the deliveries, not to pick them or deliver them.. however, when the going got tough, I jumped out from behind my desk and helped keep things running smoothly..
and 90 percent of the time, there was no more than 2 people in the old club.. the only time you saw people in there was when pod casts would gather for ingame stuff, fleets would gather for ingame stuff (which they do at their fleet starbase now) or devs had an ingame event. im not trying to say that it shouldn't be there, im just trying to say that priorities seem to be a bit off..
and yes, the burger flipper would ring up at the cash registrar if there was a need for him too. (if he was trained and knew how)..
I will concede that taco (being the most vocal of them all) gets flak for anything he comments on, weather it was his deal or not.. but that is because he comments on stuff, even if its not his, and being a cryptic dev, a face of the company, and the only one talking to us, he is the one who gets the abuse..
*disclaimer, im not hateing on taco, I love taco, im hateing on cryptic in general, for their poor management of the game, and resources. this is evident by the condition the game, and community are in, and even with comments made by ex cryptic employees.. (there was a thread for this a few months back, where someone got ahold of a website where basically exit interviews were posted )
also, poor management is clear when nearly 3/4's of the community say they don't like something, and they go ahead and keep doing it.
my original post was not meant to attack taco, but the perception cryptic is creating towards its game.
First let me say the problem with the world isn't if people are fixing things are not, its if they are doing something that they shouldn't be doing.
Yes if he didn't break it, he shouldn't fix it since he doesn't know where the break occurred. Meddling no matter how proficient is not a good idea, its the old saying, too many cooks in a kitchen, but I shall leave it at that.
Grats for working home depot and doing college  I am almost certain everyone who has attended college or any form of work can come up with some story that is relevant just as you had pointed out. This doesn't mean its still the right thing. You don't have the brain surgeon read the chest x ray and tell the patient he has lung cancer.
90% of the time no more than 2 and its only when podcast were going on? Huh...guess were on different servers after all, you on the RP server??
How is a priority off for an environmental artist finishing what was originally slated to be rolled out when the new ESD map went live to begin with? That is about as bad as saying since its baseball season but the rain cancelled the game, we should hold the superbowl instead.
I am not one for defending cryptic but I really do wonder if people gripe to just gripe? I mean were getting something added to the game and all some can do is throw a fit because person A didn't take care of some problem..
Tacofangs you are hereby promoted to chief fixer doer person, get right to it and solve world hunger and the tray bug right this instant
I am not a programmer. I know how to make things in 3d, and I know how to put those things into the game. NO programmer is required for me to do that. Our tools are established, and I can make a new map without diverting resources from anyone.
In the case of Club 47, I did have content design help from Commander Ander, who placed the NPCs, and hooked up some of the little tricks here and there. Much of this was on his own time, after he was already working on other scheduled work.
Again, No programmers, or systems designers were involved in the rebuilding of Club 47, save for consultation/advice.
I'm sorry everyone seems to feel that this was a tremendous waste of time.
The Club was always intended to be part of the ESD revamp. When we found we'd bit off more than we could chew for the initial ESD rebuild, the Club was the most reasonable thing to cut. In my eyes, ESD has not been complete until now.
No, the club does not serve a mission gameplay purpose per se, but imo it is still important.
All gamers go through a continuous cycle of compression and decompression. Club 47 provides an area for that decompression. Roleplay is just as important to many people as combat is. Providing spaces for RP is just as important as providing spaces for mission content. The Club will also serve as a location to hold in game events.
People have been citing how empty the old club was as a reason why this revamp was pointless. I'd argue that one of the reasons it was empty was that it was terrible as a place to actually hang out. I'm sure there are other reasons, and I do not expect the new Club 47 to be packed 24/7, but I do expect it will see more use than the old Club did.
At the end of the day, the work is done. I'm not going to simply delete all of the work I did over the past month because it wasn't bug fixes I am incapable of effecting. The Club may not be for everyone. You do not have to use it. It's out of the way, and you never have to step foot in there if you so choose. However, I firmly believe there are plenty of people who will use it. People who will derive some enjoyment in the game, from the new Club 47. That, to me, makes it worthwhile.
You have absolutely nothing to apologize for. Especially not to such an entitled notion.
Keep being awesome, TF.
I second this emphatically.
Taco, you and your team are doing an amazing job. I have been here since year one and have been in awe at the vast improvements you guys have done. Keep at it and let these others wallow in their self-entitled delusions.

I agree with orangeitis. Taco... you have nothing to apologize for.
Looking forward to seeing another Tacofangs original in STO. Keep up the awesome work man! Pass my compliments to your team, and... I'll buy a round at the new Club 47.
Does the music still have that problem of being instanced to you? I don't know how else to describe it. When running past the old Club 47 it always started from the beginning and would reset if you or the camera moved away. It always bothered me that it wasn't a loop that continued whether or not you were close enough to hear it.
Yay it does mean it's in the same level as the rest of the ESD Deck 47 area! Thanks.
As for all the complaining... first people complained when it was missing in the ESD redesign, now people are complaining that it's being added.
At least when I complain about secondary deflectors, its consistently me asking when are they coming onto Holodeck.

Considering how you guys short changed the Klingon and Romulans in ships for DR:
- Feds: 5 ships (3 intel, 2 non-intel)
- KDF & Roms: 2 ships (1 intel, 1 non-intel)
- Utter lack of customization with KDF & Fed ships at T6 (and I can go into other tiers if you want me to) in contrast to the more numerous options for Fed T6 ships in ship selection as well as customization options.
But hey, you guys are putting in Club 47
