So what would you like to see Cryptic do this week?

mattjohnsonvamattjohnsonva Member Posts: 4,974 Arc User
After the specialization fiasco, the accusations, the retractions, the apologies. the rage quits, dead queues, and general bad feeling at what should have been a time of great fun in the game, what would you like to see Cryptic doing this coming week?

For me they should do the following.

1. Restoration of all previous dilithium rewards with a 1440 reward for elite STFs

2. XP earned from current sources in game such as ship kills should be doubled for normal, tripled for advanced and quadrupled for elite difficulties.

3. XP for doff missions should actually give what it advertises rather than the 30% reduction you actually get.

4. All previous story missions should give a standard 5000 XP per replay (slightly more than an Argala patrol) on normal, 7000 XP on advanced and 10,000 XP on elite difficulties.

5. Advanced STF difficulty should be scaled down by a factor of 2.

6. Normal STF difficulty(mirror etc) should be scaled up by 50% (the current normal could be called training mode or something and give very limited rewards as it is ridiculously easy and zero challenge to all but the noobiest of noobs

7. All foundry missions should give 10,000 XP once per day, ie investigating officer reports mission.

In addition there must be a statement of intention regarding the following.

That a thorough investigation into the problem of loadouts is underway and will be rectified within a reasonable timeframe

That those people that have to play the game with a MAC are given some indication of when they may be able to do so again

That a team has been assigned to investigate and prioritise the other bugs that have been repeatedly posted in this forum and that a general QoL (quality of life) pass will be instigated as soon as possible

Finally I would like to see a statement that indicates that:

a: there is more to the Delta Rising story and
b: time frame for the continuation of the story

There's probably a shed load more but they are the main points continually brought up by our fleet members.

Thoughts?

    would settle for the loadout tray getting fixed, must of slotted that 8472 t5 rep active shield ability and the rmc from the power tray about 50 times now.
    better xp for kills and missions. its noticable with new toons, used to be about to get around 12 to 100xp per kill on RA as a lt to lc, now i can barely get past 1xp to 18xp at most and the lack of ability to reach the next level in the dq is obvious, im not inclined to do argala elite.

    My main concerns are for pugs.

    3 suggestions,
    remove Optional = Failure on advanced.
    or
    Reduce Hit points of ships on advanced, allowing pugs to still do it with Optionals
    or
    Simply give one of the resources on normal, bnp for example, and keep advanced how it is.

    I just want to see more pilots out there , like we used to.

    1 Fix the loadouts.
    2 Fix the loadouts.
    3 Fix the loadouts.
    4 For frak's sake, fix the loadouts.

    Seriously, right now this is my biggest thing. It used to be just my batteries it would unslot, and that I could deal with, but things are steadily getting worse to the point of having to scramble to fix stuff before the MI actually releases you at the start.

    • - Loadout bug needs to become absolute priority. It's been here for years. You need to dedicate your entire development team on it. Art/sound/story developers can function as in-house testers while the coders try to fix it.

    • - Foundry missions need to reward more items again, I used to get around 1m EC from selling items per day, now it's 70k-100k. EC nerf, but EC prices on exchange have not changed.
    • - Ground items still sell for less on average than space items
    • - XP and specialisation xp needs to be increased by a factor of 2.
    • - [DMG] mod on weapons needs to be brought in line with [CrtD] and [CrtH]. Currently fleet weapons have become useless yet the investment was massive to get them.
    • - Health from enemies on advanced difficulty needs to be reduced by 15%.
    • - Health from enemies on elite difficulty needs to be reduced by 33%.
    • - Dilithium rewards from advanced stf's need to be put back at 900(?).
    • - Dilithium rewards from elite stf's need to be upped to 1440.
    • - Timegates on Duty officer completion needs to go away. Waiting 5-10 seconds before a single doff mission finishes is terrible and frustrating.
    • - Timegate on upgrading needs to go away. Investing large amounts of resources (dilithium, ec and r&d materials) should be enough. There does not need to be a 1 hour to 8 hour "crafting time". You are punishing us for crafting with a timegate, trying to force us to pay extra dilithium to 'finish now'.
    • - If you need money; start producing and selling ship skins, weapon skins, ship art models (saucer changes, new nacelles, etc). People want to buy cosmetic stuff, not timegate stuff. WE WANT TO CUSTOMIZE OUR STAR SHIPS, sell us this PLEASE.
    • - Remove all non-skippable cutscenes.
    • - Remove mouse locking when transwarping.
    • - Ground combat bug: Aiming (33% dmg buff ability) and slowdowns cause rubber-banding character movement.

    I'm just hoping they realise that increasing hull points on NPC ships was a mistake. The game hasn't become more difficult, it's become more boring. There's no danger of my ship exploding, the real danger is me slipping into a coma and smashing my head on the desk, killing myself.

    Oh, and incidentally, why is the mission reward for completing the final DR mission a pistol? Seriously, a pistol. Does anyone even use pistols?

    For me, they should primarily focus on things we actually WANT. Like:

    1) Fix loadout system;

    2) Introduce Boff trait system;

    3) Start selling ship-skins (of the rep gear we already possess);

    4) Bridges; and player housing in general;

    5) Decimate the cost of R&D;

    6) Restore personal trait system;

    7) Don't force R&D on people;

    8) Undo recent XP nerf;

    9) Undo various Dilithium/EC nerfs across the board.

    And probably a lot more. But do these next week, and I'll be happy as punch already. :)

    borg disconnected could do with another pass over in the quality control department, the optional is almost too difficult to reach, far more then it should on normal, meaning the chances are its next to impossible on advanced without full dps boats flying as brick tanks.

    I'd recommend reducing the massive crafting cost and enable us to choose modifiers e.g. upon reaching lvl 20.

    How come the ground Tray Loadouts do not have this problem? Might be a good place to look. I realize my suggestion may not carry any weight because I don't have any letters or fancy titles after my name. But since so much of this game can legitimately be called, "Copy/Paste Online", just thought I'd throw this in for consideration.

    Honestly, most of all I would want to see the queues issue sorted out.
    First of all return the dilithium rewards to the previous levels pre DR.
    Then either bring back advanced to something similar to the old elite in difficulty levels, or make it so that normals reward unique items like BNPs and VR R&D mats and salvage even if it is on a smaller rate/ammount.

    I personally don't mind the trouble and the new difficulty levels, but I'm not keen on seeing empty queues either and I'm concerned about the overall state of the game.

    Last but not least, slap the dumbass that thought this whole thing with messing with the queues and rewards was a good idea. Slap him hard. Don't fire him, but slap him on the back of the head so he gets the message through.

    Ground tray is just as messed up, try to remove a kit and then put it back? your abilities scramble.

    I guess there is no need to add that I want the loadout problem fixed! :)

    Yes, there seems to be a problem with the queues too. Most of them seem dead.

    So, my next biggest concern is where are the Ancient Power Cells. Yes, I read the other thread about where to get them. Why are they so hard get and so few ways to get them? I am now over level 58 and over Tier 3 in Delta with only one Ancient Power Cell. I would like to start working on some of the Delta gear, but without any ANCIENT POWER CELLS, guess that will not be happening. I played Bug Hunt Advanced trying to get one, but guess my team was not good enough and we failed the mission. Wait another half an hour to try again? No, I logged off and went to bed! :mad:

    Dear Q, all i want for Xmas is a big fix for advanced queues. Make optionals optional. This will fix Viscous Cycle and Rhiho Station. Reduce advanced HP 25%

    I would settle even for 3x gain for Elite with a possibility of Advance Upgrade drops in general and Superior Upgrades for drops for specific missions/episodes.

    Amen. I shudder to think what new players are going to have to do for their Omega Rep sets(consider just how many of them there are).

    Ideally, I'd like to see Ancient Power Cells added to some big Event in the new Adventure zone at least.

    Currently.. I'm just waiting for them to randomly drop from reputation project boxes. I have ZERO interest in wading into the queues as they currently are, much less Advanced+.

    @OP
    Things I would, personally, like to see by the end of the year:
    -Remove Technician Doff stacking. It's LONG overdue and has been plaguing many core mechanics of the game for too long(power management, bridge layout diversity, cooldown timers, etc.).

    -Remove the ability to create/use keybind macros. The difference in performance between those who do and don't use it is, bluntly, game-breaking. If reducing a dozen abilities to a single button press isn't a mechanical 'exploit', I don't know what is.

    -Remove/drastically cut the shield auto-distribution of Tactical Team. (It trivializes the purpose of even having shield facings - a core mechanic of the game that could, and should considering the IP, be far more meaningful than it currently is.)

    -Reduction of the obscene stat inflation of NPCs post level 50. Make the curve a bump, not a cliff; this is causing a lot of problems for the long-term health of the game(reduces the viability of alternative playstyles, burns players out, creates a greater divide in the playerbase, makes raising the bar in the future even more daunting, and so on..). The Three previous changes alone will reset the vast majority of the current power creep(and not burn out the playerbase in the process).

    What the game needs NOW before it implodes is a fix for the ridiculous queue revamp. It made everything a ghost town.

    If they don't fix the queues all other issues are moot, as this game will be dead by the time the winter event is over.

    Regarding point 3:

    Disagree. DOFF assignments should reward less XP. This could be compensated for by increasing the XP from missions and STF's. Giving too much XP on doff assignments means that there's no reason to actually exploit, I mean play, the game by doing missions yourself.

    Point 5 and 6: fully agree.

    Normal STF's are over before you've even refilled your tray and replaced the disappeared BOFF skills. Advanced STF's... well no need to point that out again.

    One thing I'm missing in this list: I'd like to see the list with known issues updated. Infected ground advanced is still bugged, I've heard rumours of Cure ground advanced being bugged and there hasn't been any word on this for weeks now even though many people, myself included, have pointed it out and reported it.

    Entire missions are unplayable, or at least they can't be finished, yet they're still in the list which means people are doing missions that are more difficult and give less rewards, only to have to beam up at the end and leave with no rewards at all. Remove the missions temporarily, or at least make it known to the public that these missions can't be finished.

    There're a fair few things, including making the crafting/upgrade system an actual RPG style one: it allows you to precisely and finely hone your char and char concept. Yup, you need to keep the lights on, but you can still monetize away, and I'll pay handsomely [like I used to, if you want to check your records] if I can buy what I actually want rather than some lottery ticket garbage over and over and over again.

    And other things, most of them also already mentioned; but all of them put together, and multiplied by ten wouldn't add up to:-

    FIX THE POWER TRAY BUG!!!

    There, you've done made me shout now....

    100% agreed.

    Upgrades are ridiculously expensive, another way the casual gamers are separated from the "maniacs" (DPS addicts, reputation heroes and EC hoarders: I am looking at you). If I want to achieve the level where I can confidently go into a PvP fight or an Elite mission, I would have to invest at least $500 in Zen, 2 weeks of constant grinding (24/7 STO, sounds good LOL) read thousands of very informative blogs, watch videos plus I have to be a lifer. If it becomes a job, a commitment, a "must-do" than the fun factor diminishes...
    Oh, and fix the loadouts.

    Un-nerf everything

    But especially queues, dil, timers, crafting, upgrading

    Add the promised modifers to crafting and also forget about all them timegates.

    Remove dil from crafing and upgrading

    Re-add drops of all colors and all levels - crafting and upgrading will set itself apart with the MODIFERS they promised us

    In short stop everything you are doing and do it completely differently

    Since Beta I have been ranting on these forums about STO and how Cryptic has handled it. This time I'm not ranting. This time, I'm saying what I honestly, truly wish Cryptic would do this week.

    I would like to see Cryptic close STO and then give the MMO to a truly competent developer who is capable of giving a Star Trek MMO the kind of care, attention, detail and dignity it deserves. Because a quick, instant death would be preferable to the drawn-out, cancerous death Cryptic means to a beloved franchise.
