SWTOR is trying to get as many characters to level 55 as they can so player characters can run the new level 55 to 60 content. Getting a character to level 55 sucks in SWTOR compared to STO without the 12x XP boost. STO is ridiculously easy to get to level 50 so such boosts are not needed to play the new content.
your forgetting that sto has level 60 as well, and that will require you to be creative to making up the poor xp numbers, you need boosters there then you would for tor. even on f2p you can get useful xp numbers, it just requires a little more effort to get on top of it and stay on top of it, however sto from 50 to 60 doesnt afford you that same luxary as it slows down dramatically over those levels.
Kind of but not really. Has anyone tried to get to lvl 50 in STO since the DOff XP nerf? 55 in SWTOR is still very doable in a week if you know what missions to run.
it is doable to 55 on tor, with the 12x and sub the key is not to rush the early levels, but rather build up a health store of comms and a kit, then you can rush through it making sure to get upgrades if your a tank from level 15 gear to level 35 gear to level 47 gear, then run makeb from that point and you reached level 55, just keep collecting comms or raid the gtn for some suitable upgrades to 28 for a start and then head to oricon for more useful bits for a short amount of time then just do the HMs and story stuff. dont neglect your companion you plan to take with you, otherwise be flexible on your comps as you get em and use em.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
I play SWtoR as my main game now. Its no more of a grind then WoW was. If you think basic WoW and SWTOR are massive grinds you obviously never played Asain MMOs. Ive played a few and some of them are utter jokes, sorta what STO devs are slowly doing to STO.
Atm SWTOR has x12 exp if you sub and have preordered the expansion. Leveled from 1-55 in 2 days just speed running nothing but main class quest. Even without all that you can go 1-20 in a day, 4-5days and fully leveled so its not that bad.
Try WoT and go from tier 1 to 10 THAT is a grind lol.
sure if you want to fork out the money. still in STO, you can go from 1-50 in no time. Just the last 10 levels are a pain.

Just the other day i lvled a character from 1-50 in SWTOR i chose to stop at 50 for the moment on that character. It took me 2 days, and guess what I used? level 9 gear from 9 - 50. Not even joking.
Learning your skills and how to use them is key, I died only a handful of times and usually when my companion wasnt doing what it aught to be.
Now I did play a ton in 2 days but it wasnt like I didnt do other things or eat or sleep. 6 or so hours per session is all it took. You can go lvl 1-15 in under 40mins. Ignore everything you dont need to kill, run for quest objectives and npc only. Bust them down, turn in quest and repeat.
That x12 exp is rediculous and they give you +25% exp tokens from your quest that stack with it. Some quests give you 2 levels in 1 go.
They want people to 55 for the new expansion and they gave people the chance for 2 MONTHS of that kinda exp. Gotta hand it to them they gave the players a hell of a boost.
Good to know, I wanted to take the chance to level a few characters to finally see more of the class storylines.
That said, as I understand it, you need to be subscribed for these benefits. I am not sure if you also need to have the expansion pre-ordered already.
Startrek Online did something similar to TOR before Delta Rising - the double skill point event was running for several weeks. (But that seems to be actually something STO does more than once, and not just for a specific expansion), and while it's "only" double Skill Points, you can get a char from Level 1 to Level 50 with the regular missions around the start of the Nimbus arc. (IF you don't DOFF, could be you need to do the whole arc.)
I am not sure if the skill point "nerf" changed that. As far as I understand it, it should not, since the reduced skill point gains are only relevant for higher difficulties or when facing lower level enemies (so it could maybe be an issue for Nimbus?). The Level 50-60 level gaps are largely a result of the mission payout and the level requirements in skill points.

was It Last Chaos? Good Gods, That Game Was Nothing But Grind. Go To Monster Spawn Area, Click On Monster, Watch Your Character Auto-attack It Until It's Dead, Click On The Next One, Repeat. Over And Over And Over Again For Hours. No Story Missions, Just Collect Quests You Filled By Collecting Random Drops From Monsters That Dropped Maybe 1 In 100 Kills So You Would Spend All Day Killing Hundreds On Hundreds Of The Damned Things Until You Had Enough Drop Items, Then Go Back And Turn Them In For Some Xp. And Yes, You Lost Xp When You Died. It Was A Hellish, Soul-sucking Experience.
I've Often Said That Anyone Who Complains Of Grind In This Game Needs To Go Play That One For A Week. They'll Never Say That Word Again.
