At this point it doesn't matter to me, other than the two free upgrades I get (Chimera and the one lockbox ship I ever got the Wells) I'm not upgrading a damn thing. Ship wise or gear wise, I just don't see any point to it whatsoever. I'll play the stuff that's fun, my T5 ships, and say "sod off" to the rest.
It's all apart of the price creep. Why are T5 ships not all valued the same in the first place?
I've made the same argument in regards to sci ships in other threads. You're paying the same price for less product (equip slots) in a sci ship vs cruiser/escort.
So they decide to charge 5$ more for the newest hotness, every time there's a new hotness. Pay it, or you don't get one right? It should cost more (for the same) because it's new right?
So why would anyone expect that price creep not to continue?
In the real world, when something becomes outclassed by a successor, the price goes down. You might have paid 300$ for an iPhone5 2 years ago, but you wouldn't today would you?
It doesn't apply to STO in any way. Everything is additive.
Well for sure it will be 10 dollars, just from the simple fact they removed the 5 dollar option altogether should at least bring up some RED FLAGS, that and the fact that they have yet revealed the cost soo late in the game.
they may have removed the $5 option but there is still a bunch of stuff on the C-store for $5 or less so this is no indication of the final price.
having said that I would not be shocked if they choose to charge $10 but I still hope it would be $5.
not for myself but for those who wish to upgrade, im doubtful I will upgrade any, I would rather just upgrade what I can for free and put the money into T6 ships.
whether they will do a multibuy option at reduced cost is anybodys guess.
When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.
Upgrade tokens should have the same cost regardless. (Also, upgrading the fleet version of a ship will upgrade the regular version (where applicable) for free.)
on the face of it that sounds like a good deal, pay to upgrade a ship and its an account wide unlock, problem is many players only have 3 characters 1 of each faction so if you pay for an upgrde on a T5 fed ship the kdf and rom cant use it anyway.
besides which many players who have multiple characters from the same faction don't want to be using the same ship on all their characters anyway.

I personally don't fly any single ship more than once, what would be the point ? I made multiple characters for a reason and there are plenty of nice ships to choose from.
In other words, the account unlock thing doesn't really add any real value to the tokens. Neither does the normal + fleet at once stunt they pulled. More of a reason to set the price higher.

indeed they make it sound like they are giving you something when they are not really giving you anything at all.
this makes me wonder about the dyson mega pack of 9 ships, is this 9 individual ships, 3 ships with slight differences for faction or 1 ship with 9 options because they are all Dyson Science Destroyers, so would you need to buy 1, 3 or 9 tokens to upgrade all 9?
from what I can see in the description it sounds like 9 individual ships so 9 tokens would be needed.
if its $10 per token that's $90, that's a hefty price to pay to upgrade a $100 ship pack.

a $10 upgrade would not bode well for the T6 prices - setting them at $40 minimum, and likely higher.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard: "We think we've come so far. Torture of heretics, burning of witches, it's all ancient history. Then - before you can blink an eye - suddenly it threatens to start all over again."

check again, only the free ones you got from the event are free to upgrade, the C-Store dyson ships are not free to upgrade at all.
Yikes, that's crazy. For me that was the only bad purchase I have made and this makes it worse. I switched to the Vet ship for my Klingon and like it much better, even just for its looks.

As if 20$ isn't a ridiculous price for a few pixels to begin with..... I sometimes feel like an Eskimo who just bought his second refrigerator...
you`ve got that wright buddy, I cant help feeling like this upgrade business is leaving a bad taste in my mouth.
at times cryptic can be so generous with C-Store giveaways and such then they go and spoil it all with this pennypinching stunt of pay to upgrade ships.
I still say at the end of the day who is going to want to buy T5 ships only to have to pay again to upgrade them, only in a sale maybe but not at full price.

you buy a tier 5 ship $25
upgrade to t-5u $5 or $10
Fleet ship $5
cost of ship $35 or $40.. its getting expensive !!
They could have not introduced T5U and supremely screwed everyone by forcing them into T6.
Your pain runs deep.
Let us explore it... together. Each man hides a secret pain. It must be exposed and reckoned with. It must be dragged from the darkness and forced into the light. Share your pain. Share your pain with me... and gain strength from the sharing.

I am not sure but there was a mention that if you upgrade a T5 ship it automatically upgrades fleet versions. I remember seeing someone mention this.

I guess tomorrow is going to be zero hour then if they are going to tell us. Either that or they won't bother to give what 90% of their playerbase want to really know and just dump it on us Tuesday.

what difference does knowing it a day early provide?

It would be nice to know. Its a charge everyone who isn't doing T6 is going to realistically have to do. Given that, it would have been a nice gesture to just tell us. I don't see the need for such secrecy, they've been so forthcoming on absolutely everything else. The whole T5/T6 issue has been the major heart and soul of Delta Rising since its announcement and is still a very, very delicate one that at this stage needs to be handled well.
Thus, disclosure around the sensitive topic feels more respectful. I've got a feeling they are hiding the pricing because its more expensive than it really needs to be.
This is why I put 10 bucks into the game months ago when I first heard about Upgrade Tokens. If its 500 Zen. Ill be able to upgrade 2 ships...1000 Ill upragde the one ship I enjoy flying the most. But Im already covered.
If its more then 10 dollars. They can kiss my nacelles. Im already debating if I want to even come back for the Delta Rising Expansion. So far they havent shown me anything exciting. Just Cryptic takes on species that were one offs in the Series.
IMO, a ship upgrade cost should be no more than the half of the initial cost when you bought it as a T5. A 20 Zen ship to upgrade for 10 Zen, a 25 Zen ship to T5U for 125 Zen, and so on.
What would make this a moneysink biznatch will be that I think upgrades will have to be used per individual ship (yes, I know that all toons will be able to use the same type of ship throughout the account). Anyone who bought a Galaxy or DSD 3-pack is gonna be p*ssed cuz they'll now have to T5U all 3 ships individually.
where can you get a T5 ship for 20zen or 10zen try $20 (2000zen) & $10 (1000zen) maybe.

lot more than copy-paste man. they created a whole new ship for each upgrade with new stats, traits, and consoles. It's been said a lot by the devs that's it's not just copy-paste.

Oh yeah, I've already purchased my Zen for it as well (real money by the way, no dil conversion). I do think for the player base it would be nice to know by now how much this will all cost, particularly if you are one of those people who may be upgrading more than one vessel. Its going to start getting very, very pricey for people who have multiple vessels or alts.
Players could have started thinking about budgeting with an earlier update (or if this had come sooner, maybe purchased Zen in blocks over a period of time leading up to DR, kinda like what you've done).

It's "NOT" an upgrade, you're just buying it again at a CStore ship discount with and extra console slot. :P
Everyone was looking for a CStore ship price drop, we got it now, just not the way we wanted it.

Don't worry, Cpt Harrison says it clearly - "It won't be installed until Tuesday" - Cpt Harrison

time enough for whine and cheese.
They changed it to work like that in one of the more recent Tribble patches.
