that, and the complete lack of faction balance. Pre-season 7, the ques were divided, and PvP was really pretty active even really late at night.
What killed the PVP Queues was the change of the PvP Dilithium mission cooldowns from zero to once every 20 hours. The self entitiled "OMG! I need to actually think about a build to win at PVP" whiners who also cried 'Premade' at any loss didn't help either.

every once and a wile i take a grind break if i see some arenas or C&H with a bunch of people qued. ive proboly played about 10 matches since DR droped.
but i suspect, like me, most people are trying to at least get to 60, or grinding rep marks, also the mirror invasion on top of all that. there is so much must do grinding right now, more then in any other release, that pvp is squeezed out of everyone's time budgeting completely. i suspect, once it becomes physically possible to complete the new reputation, pvp will get noticeably more active.
it is kind of a moment of truth for all the pvpers left though right now. do you stick around, do the insane amount of level and mark grinding, cash in to tier 6, and if your smart the whole DR pack, or do you get out? now that the competitiveness you had befor DR was taken away from you. you pretty much need to do as much work to get from 50 to pvp competent 60, as you used to need to do to get from new character to pvp ready 50.

You're right to some degree. I used to do crazy farming since DR launch, until I took a break and said "wait, this is getting out of hand". I got only the Faeht, and that's the only Intel ship I need. after that, I came back to T5U and began upgrading. About reputation, I usually buy only the stuff I need and get on with it. It's not true that all T5U ships are dead. Avenger, Xindi, Tempest, Vestas, Wells, Mobius, Scimitar. I still gotta see an Intel Battlecruiser with five forward weapons, an utterly devastating, fast and tanky escort, or one that can rollback the damage dealt and/or causing havoc with TIF, or that has the same decloak brutal power of a Scimitar.
Some people scream about OSS for example. True it's powerful... in the first seconds you use it. Enough to say that you're gonna really like it when shields fail in combat, engines get you to a dead stop, or auxiliary is negated for cloaking. Highly overrated imo, and highly situational. Plus, running these Intel powers, especially at high ranks means my opponent gave up something. Up to me to discover what and exploit that lack.
Keep in mind, always, that nothing here matters, game's a mix of bits, command lines and textures. I for one, can't justify spending over a hundred euros on a DLC. In all seriousness, with that money I could buy the full edition of Driveclub and a force feedback wheel for PS4. I ain't spend to get more bits of edge, lmao. Not that much at least.

Budro, lvl 60 aint even, you need lvl 60 and the spec points too

your 1 intel ship has given you a pretty limited picture, but that one in particular should show you how insane you can spike damage now. OSS only powerful the first second? could say the same thing about BO, no one holds that agianst it. fact is, the entire duration of 20 seconds, you have anywhere between an 80% to 8% damage buff, its averages out to another copy of APA. its not just weapons power ether, harder shields, move faster, stronger aux heals and stronger exotic damage. there is no role this skill isn't great for.
the mogh and avenger have nothing, absolutely nothing on the eclipse or qib. OSS and SS with 4 DHCs makes a joke out of a 5 fore DHC mogh and avenger, its not even close. with just OSS, the guardian can FAW as hard or harder then a scimitar, and the aelahl can CRF as hard or harder then a scimitar
the tier 6 raptor is a true monster. not only does it have 5 fore weapons and 5 tac consoles, but it can also run OSS. you think the zindi could hit hard? ha. not to mention its cannon barrage console is like adding 2 more CRF DHCs at least, to your forward firepower. compared to your common 4/3 tier 5U escort, this raptor has like 8 DHCs worth of CRF it can burst on you.
there really is nothing worth your attention in tier 5U. not the scimitar, not the zindi, and none of the heal boats or sci ship. intel is the king of control, full station power disables for up to 10 to 20 seconds, no wells, vesta or palisade can do that. nor can it push an exotic damage build near as far without OSS. these disables, neutronic torp spread and the insane damage of OSS and SS, turning any weapons fire into a vap, pvp is only a question of who can hit who with the massive over spike first, tank/healer roles cant function in an ionic storm or near an EMP probe.
Budro, lvl 60 aint even, you need lvl 60 and the spec points too
And of course the gear, same old there
It's a trip going back and listening to some of Geko's comments on "fixing" powercreep with DR. Heh, I'd rather have the broken powercreep we had before he "fixed" it with DR...it wasn't anywhere near as bad...meh.
Lol yes, somehow my years of experience in mmo's makes me an idiot.
Let me bring you down to reality here. PvP was NEVER, EVER A BIG THING IN STO. Not because it wasn't balanced, but because majority of star trek players (which is the majority of this game) don't WANT to pvp.
That's the hard truth. Don't want to hear it or believe it? Not my fault you fail to understand the truth.
I don't pvp because all I saw from it was a DPS vaping contest (I did try it). From what I am hearing now, the victor is determined by whoever has the T6. Aside from the ships, there is the gear. Now we must have mk xiv to stand a chance. I could barely afford a mk xiv and a mk xiii pulsewaves. Simply put, If I go up to PvP, someone is gonna whack me back down with his t6 mk xiv [gold] stick.
I wouldn't mind queueing with suboptimal gear (the stuff I've had has never been that great anyway) but I have a feeling that all the crazy passives and consoles and tracks and damage creep and new systems and such have warped the game into something very different to what I remember it being, and my setups are probably rusty dinosaurs that can't compete. Feels a bit like being a time traveler.

This isn't a necro. The thread may be 32 days old, but certainly no reasonable mod would resort to draconian measure because of two days.
Are you accusing me of being reasonable? That hasn't happened for awhile.
The thread might get closed for other reasons, eventually, but two days over isn't a big deal - especially with a weekend in the mix.

And I do wonder: Is there still PVP? I'm not 60 yet, so I can't look at the queues. But the leaderboard has been essentially dead since DR.
Ground
Arena 0 (min 10) - Avg. Wait 0:00 (not popping)
Assault 0 (min 16) - Avg. Wait 0:00 (not popping)
