A "grapple gun" does not a "suit of equipment" make. Disappointing blog.

I hope they'll allow us an atmospheric HALO jump instead of beaming down.
If B'Elanna Torres can do it, i want to follow suit in that regard.
Kirk did it first, we just didn't get to see it in the movie (ST:VII)

EDIT: Orbital skydiving like in JJ Trek (No hate please. Just a visual representation)! That's a covert way of entering a planet or starbase undetected by transporters... yes?
Orbital skydiving was also done in Generations
Edi: just realised it wasnt shown on the screen it was a deleted scene

While members of the Romulan Republic in the alliance will already be familiar with such tactics, and members of the Klingon Defense Force will be more inclined to simply shoot their way out of such situations, Starfleet Operatives will likely be more familiar with diplomacy than infiltration
I'd just like to point out that both Starfleet Intelligence and Klingon Intelligence are equally experienced with espionage and both are willing to use whatever means necessary to achieve their goals, this includes Starfleet Intelligence and Section 31.

Agreed. Well, not on the "whatever means necessary" bit because this pragmatic mindset is thrown around *way* too often, but the devblog treating Klingons - once again - like a bunch of Space Orcs is something that at first completely slipped my attention. While the whole warrior theme stands, Klingon intelligence is just as experienced and used as is Starfleet Intelligence. I don't doubt Romulans or Cardassians would employ different tactics, but Klingon agents are just as adept. Not every Klingon is a "warrior". And "warriors" are not brutes.

There's also a few examples of rock-climbing programs on the Holodeck, so it's not outside the realm of possibilty that it's done outside the holodeck... say, in places where transport inhibitors are... They would, for example, prevent just going site-to-site across a ravine, leaving someone really wanting that rope and grappling hook so they can get across to where said inhibitors are so they can shut them down and beam in a full battalion of MACOs or Redshirts.
Hey, Delta Quadrant, "Voyager", 'Caretaker', the Ocampa homeworld had a shield that prevented them from just beaming into and out of the Ocampa city, so they had to squeeze through the gap, work their way along the catwalks, recover Kim and Torres, and when they started back to the shield - the catwalks fell and left people hanging. Bet some rope and a grappling hook would have been nice to have then, huh?

^Words that every player should keep in mind, especially whenever there's a problem with the game...
I was actually hoping for like super advanced climbing gloves or something like that.
You'd think a guy with a nickname like Geko would be all over that, wouldn't you?
On the other hand, having a bunch of people climbing walls like Spider-Man fits Trek even less than a relatively low-tech grapple gun.

Is this one of those times where Real Life tech has overtaken Star trek?
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
There have been a couple of examples of riding around in a car and on horseback too. Wonder if those could be next? I'd totally go Batman if we had a Batmobile to go with the grapple gun.
If they can make those concepts work, I don't have a problem with them being next. I was actually hoping we'd get some kind of ground vehicles back when the Voth Battlezone was first presented to us anyway.
After all, there's the Argo in "Nemesis", and not too long ago "Surface Tension" introduced a 'rail-travel/shooting' set-up when you're escorting the Aquarius on its attack run, so there's ample precedent for a mission where you play 'tailgunner' on an Argo ground attack vehicle while the game moves it on a 'rail' system.
Ultimately, the best argument against anti-gravity boots and site-to-site transporters and whatnot and in favor of a simple old-fashioned bit of rope and a grappling hook was made by Captain Montgomery Scott;

When I saw this, and thought about some of the PUG groups I have been in, I couldn't help but think that instead of seeing people play as Batman, it will just end up being a lot of George of the Jungle players. I'll end up yelling, "Watch out for that...(bang)...tree!" almost all the time.

1.) Chameleon Field / Shroud
2.) Orbital Jump Suit ('cause omg cool, and 2 missions to use it in)
3.) "Houdini" Subspace Field generator, -or- Phased Shroud Generator
4.) "Houdini" Subspace Anti-personnel mines
5.) Undine Coercion Probes (the Tal Shiar in me wants this)
6.) Ceti Eel combat pets (oh yeah, I went there)

If you want item 4, you will need to ask the Founders for it. I'm sure that if you have a good reason for it they will, in their wise benevolence, see fit to grant your request.

Partially, but the fact is that there is a reason why, even with the highest tech weaponry available on the planet, Spec Ops troops still carry around knives and use bows and crossbows today. Namely, when your job is to avoid notice, using something overly high-tech can get you killed.
Using jet boots, anti-gravity devices, and/or transporters are all going to produce signatures sensors can detect. Using a purely mechanical means to do the job might require a bit more work, but is only as detectable as the people around to see it (tracking all motion in an area where motion is expected and usual will give any security system fits).
This is the same rationale behind the Federation using cloaks for their intel ships. Unlike the Alpha Quadrant, the Alliance is badly outnumbered by a lot of enemies in the Delta quadrant, so avoiding detection is probably the only way to avoid facing hundred-to-one odds of surviving an encounter with hostile forces deep in their own territory. It isn't about attack but avoidance.
I just hope this will not be limited to 1 episode or few,
it would be good to have some permanent maps in which we can repeat missions using it.
Seriously the potential this game could achieve by just extending the use of already existing tools such as the jetpack or the EVA suits is to think about.
Also OT, but since it is being said, we want ground vehicles like Argo for the future battlezones.
The game has gone a long way improving during the last updates and it can be even better, don't waste it.
I still dream from time to time about using the Gateway to doff off-game in spare minutes as we were told
Yeah the 2nd piece of gear will require you to follow a borg sphere into the past where you must steal a musket from the borg.
This new adapted technology will create holograms that are your minute men reloading your musket after you fire at disgruntled talaxians trying to tell you horrible jokes until you swallow your phaser that was set on overload.
It is also rumored that after that you will have a chance to buy one of the most sought after items on planets from pre-warp civilizations!

I agree, but do you know what I also find hilarious? The thought of my boss-sized alien giantess trying to be sneaky.

Although, the Suliban apparently actually DID do it like Spiderman in that they apparently used some sort of genetic enhancement to walk on ceilings.
