So the only two purchase options available are Skrill and PayPal. What happened to Google Wallet, Direct Credit Card, etc?
pw has always used skrill and paypal. skrill handles their direct cc transactions.

I just bought a bunch of Zen with the sale and all, was able to do so using 'Google Wallet' and 'Direct Credit Card' that appears on my card as 'PWE', not Skrill.

I'm a bit hesitant with Skrill; they asked for my SS# a while back, so I closed my Skrill account.

I had found that at times to be an issue on STO. And my thought was, "Okay, if I am using "my own" money to buy zen? Then why do I need to verify my identity and be limited with only so much in a month?" Geez I could have sworn in a previous thread there was a lot of gossip, and yip yap about either PW not making enough money, or that they were making their quota. Okay, so if they need to make money and ask for my verification? I smell collecting personal information for their own exploits. Time to call the Better Business Bureau, and also the Federal Trade Commission, and the Bureau of Consumer Protection. O.o

the reason they ask me to verify my identity is to protect me and them. hacking's a serious problem. just ask the 100 actresses that just got TRIBBLE. by verifying my identity i'm proving i'm not using a stolen credit card to run up a huge gaming tab. i had my cc TRIBBLE last year. the hacker ran up nearly a grand in fees on the dumbest things, from dating websites to wool socks. i'd rather spend a few minutes verifying then go through that again.

Eh, Valoreah is just stating his opinion in the matter which he is purely entitled too. While I might not agree with his opinions, still respectfully he is ientitled to his opinions about Cryptic and STO.

True, security has to always be evolving and tighened up each time. I have to agree on that one STF65. But at the same time too, it just well................feels like you have to look twice to make sure nothing is being taken advantage of. But again I agree.

Sheldon, no worries about it. He might claim your Trek-Fu is weak. But deep down he also knows I was the one that mentioned about the Pegasus Episode while I was arguing in my previous post to him about the Federation and it's history with the Cloaking Device. Funny and he takes credit for the episode mentioned.

Valoroah? I find your lack of faith disturbing. The Trek Fu is strong with this Sheldon one.

Seeing as the then hostile Romulan Star Empire, the other party of the Treaty, was willing to allow the Federation to operate a cloaking ship (the Defiant) in the Gamma Quadrant in order to battle the perceived threat of the Dominion, it only stands to reason that the now allied Roman Republic would allow the Federation to operate cloaking ships in the Delta Quadrant in order to battle the Undine, the Borg, and the Iconians. For them to not allow such an exception to the treaty given current events in STO would make no sense in terms of canon with DS9 as precedent.

Honesty I'm surprised that they haven't also added 'starter pack' like packs that don't contain a single title, ship, boff, and doff. Like one for each fed ship, KDF ship, and Rom ship. Because honestly, I have no desire to own all these ships. In fact I only want two of them, and I doubt I'm the only person who's in a similar boat. There's a missed money making possibility there with 'base packages' that Cryptic/PWE are skipping over I think.

There is still plenty of time for those things to show up. Patience will be rewarded, I believe.

Honestly, I like the new all of the new ships. The materials, maybe not, but I think the designs are good. The Phantom reminds me of the design for the USS Incursion.

Not sure if I'm totally on board with getting the pack though. I'm hoping it comes to Steam like the rest of the packs did.

The Federation never needed cloaks to fight the Borg or the Undine before. Why start now?

Because the Romulans loaned one to the Defiant to combat the Dominion during the Dominion War. And the fact too now that since the Romulan Star Empire is in ripples, along with the fact that the Romulan Republic established itself during their Civil War with the Tal Shiar, and the Romulan Star Empire. Also I like to note that with the allaince now of the Klingons and the Federation. Facing a fight on multiple foes it would be logical for the Federation to use Cloaking Devices on their starships. Let's see WHO else uses cloak in the Delta Quadrant at this time.

Ohhhhhhh maybe say, THE VOTH. BRILLIANT! And there you have it. Yup, the Trek Fu is weak with this one. My..............apprentice.

What makes you the expert on what Gene Roddenberry thoughts are on a Star Trek Ship?

I particularly liked the opening sentence. Though for his criticism to be taken seriously, he should have sandwiched it with a likewise positive comment at the end.

Yeah, that probably wouldn't have worked either.

And the answer is no, because players have been paying $25 bucks and more for ships with little or no complaint for years. The player base has spoken with their wallets.

I plat an train simulator that reguarly has high-detail models sold in for the game by both the manufacturer and by third-party developers. I think the most they'd sell a fully high-detailed modeled engine for is $10, and even still people aren't that happy with it. One guy try to sell a less-detailed model for $30 and there was a huge outcry, that his prices were to high (although people still bought it, and he's still selling it at that price.)

But yes in my opinion $125 is WAY too much to pay for any add on to any game period. especially seeing as most games cost in the $50-75 range.

And what? The Defiant was the only Federation ship in the Dominion war? Why didn't the Romulans offer cloaks to all Federation ships then?

The Romulans loaned the Feds a cloak only for the USS Defiant (NX-74205, the first one) for fighting the Dominion, part of the agreement was that it would only be used in the Gamma Quadrant; that's not to say that once the Romulan overseer was gone, they did use it in the Alpha Quadrant, but technically every time they did they were violating the Treaty of Algeron.

And one more thing too. The Federation on STO were also using the Cloaking Device fitted for Tactical Escort Retrofits, their Dreadnaught Carriers, and were capable to use them for their Avenger Class Battlecruisers. Now you may ask yourself why? Because up until the "New Accord" Season. Well even before then, the Federation was at an arms race/conflict in the STO storyline with the Klingons because of their differences. And if you want to argue the use of the Federation on the "Treaty of Algernon" about being forbidden to use cloaking devices on federation starships, well think about this.

The Treaty of Algernon was signed by both the Romulan Star Empire, and the Federation as well. Which I ALSO noted in a previous post as well which was stating about the Pegasus episode as well.

    So what does this mean........

Since the Treaty was signed by both the Federation and the Romulan Star Empire then, the issues between the Federation and the Klingon Empire in STO the terms of the Treaty do not apply to the arms race because the conflict of the Empire and the Federation were not even applied to the Treaty. Making the Treaty null and void in the terms of the Federation/Klingon conflict of STO.

Even now with the Alpha Quadrant Alliance in Delta Rising, the concerns of the Alpha Quadrant would come higher in priority to the security over the terms of the Treaty of Algernon because well, the Alpha Quadrant is dealing with the Delta Quadrant. And the Delta Quadrant never signed the Treaty of Algernon.

Now on the issue of Omega Particales? That can be a different topic there.

You expect me to pay $125 for a bunch of ships that don't even have their stats posted? Hell, the Expansion is more still a month away AND we don't even know what's going to happen to our Mk XII gear yet, and already Cryptic want our money!

So let's take a little headcount.... the Federation has been fighting the Breen, Tal'Shiar, Klingons, Gorn, Orions, Borg, Iconians, True Way, Undine, Voth, various alien races up the wazoo all without the need for cloaking technology.... but now all of a sudden when they go to the Delta Quadrant, they need it?

They used cloaking technology in the Federation/Klingon arms conflict, and even up to now. So YES they have been using cloaking technology. For a Career Officer you really need to read upon your LORE.

The $125 doesn't buy you the add-on. You get that for free. This is a ship (multiple), costume, BOff, DOff, title pack that is being sold at a discount to what it will cost you if you decide to buy it later.

then they broke the agreement in the first episode when the Defiant was cloaked while approaching DS9

Nice to see the UK is getting royally screwed, the dollar value should put the price in the £70-75 region but because it will have to bought in Euro's that puts in the £95-100 range.
So something that was in the expensive price range has been inflated to the "not bloody likely" price range
