I have a few questions.
1. Is this the only Purchaseable DLC thats going to be avalible for Expansion 2?
2. Is this the Only way I can get the New Ships?
3. Is this account Wide?
4. Are there going to be any purchasable playable races simular to the Reman in LOR?
I think you are mixing apples and oranges in your OP.
PWE buying Cryptic for $50mill has nothing to do with current game development costs, nor the maintenance of an MMO (servers, bandwidth etc). It is an ADDITIONAL cost that needs to be recouped along with your 'normal $60-80mill development cost of a AAA title'.
(Not that I think expansions take anywhere near that to develop, mind, but the whole game might be hitting that point)
Triple-A titles expect to sell millions of copies, usually across multiple platforms, at that $70 price point to profit. How many 'millions' of copies of STO do you think are selling? By their nature, MMOs play to (individually) smaller markets than typical PC/console AAA titles.
Also, you aren't paying for the 'content', Delta Rising will be available to all. You are paying for 8 T6 ship designs, unlocked account wide, 3 T5U upgrade tokens, some extra BOff/DOffs and some vanity stuff.
With people assuming T6 ships will run $30 or more, T5U unlocks at $5-10, unknown value for the BOff/Doffs - whether this package is 'worth it' depends on how many of those features you will use.
Myself I am tempted, but I will have to wait and see what the cash fairy leaves me over the next month or two.
Saying the ships look ugly is never going to help change things. Need constructive opinions. I think if they allow other skins everything will be fine.
LOOOOOL. Unfortunately you are too late. Constructive opinions never were taken seriously by cryptic, in fact, as you should know (you must be newbie) cryptic never took in consideration ANYTHING said by the players, since years ago. Wake up, please.
I think the price great! If you look at the average price of a high level ship, of around 2k Zen then that's already $160, plus a costume unlock, another $5. 3 pack of Boff's would be $5 ~$7.50, 3 pack of DoFF's $2.50 and then finally the Upgrade Tokens which will be anywhere from $5 each to $10 each ... I think bought separately, it would be pushing $200, so $125 seems quite reasonable.
And here it comes another rich player. LOL, how someone in his right mind will say this price is "great"?? lool, you lost your mind??? i will NEVER pay not even 25$ for this pack. Not until cryptic shows me a little respect, something they didnt do in 2 years. But here we are, reading stupid posts from rich people willing to pay watever cryptic says, and saying stupid and non sense things like "this price is great". And still, people is wondering why cryptic will never change the way they manage this game lol. Some people must be blind.
First off - 120 Euros? God, I can't stop laughing. Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope. I might pick this up if it ends up in the C-Store, like the Legacy Pack, but otherwise nope.
Wow, $158. If they also charge the same in Brittish pounds, they end up really bad at almost $200.
its not just rich people
its certainly a combination of rich and stupid
+150 (or 119 atm) for what? A few ships?
You can get several modern games (bug free ones) for that price instead.
Paying for this pack is like telling the Devs that they can do anything with the players.
"Nerf everything and take our money"
"You dont need to provide any good content... just take our money"
Well, this way the developers will never listen to what the players want or need.
If you don't think it's worth it, don't buy it. As with the LoR pack, not one thing in there is necessary to play the game.
On the other hand, some folks can treat $125 US lightly. Others honestly do feel that the contents of this pack are worth the money. "Worth it" is a highly individual decision, after all.
For what it's worth, I shan't be dropping the cash, in large part because I haven't got the cash. But for those who are, I bless you for doing your part to keep STO profitable and expanding. Komerex, tal khesterex, after all.
You know, I'm a really old piece of Targ meat. I remember having bought pc-games for 100-120 units of a currency that doesn't exist anymore, and those were games I still play to this very day. That is around 50 (or 55-60$) worth decades of fun.
Today, companies charge 150 bucks for virtual items in a free to play game. This... wouldn't have been possible "back in the day". Definitely.

"A filthy, mangy beast, but in its bony breast beat the heart of a warrior" - "faithful" (...) "but ever-ready to follow the call of the wild." - Martok, about a Targ
"That pig smelled horrid. A sweet-sour, extremely pungent odor. I showered and showered, and it took me a week to get rid of it!" - Robert Justman, appreciating Emmy-Lou

So apparently after all, some content arrives, it will be at least 10 new episodes in the delta quadrant , new skill tree, new single missions, kobali planet, etc.
Not sure if it is worth the $125 as of right now. However if this is used to recoup the cost of the Voyager crew, they should have sent them home and not bothered with the voice over TRIBBLE.
I must say that $125 for DLC is such an American mindset. Only we would blow that much money at one time for a game. Sad that in today's economy, we (American's) still have that kind of disposable income.
But off my soapbox... personally I was hoping for, and still am, smaller starter boxes. I just want 1 T6 ship with some goodies. I don't need 8... Last I checked, I could only fly one at a time
Hi. Apparently I'm new here and joined in Jun 2012. Guess I'm in good company though... seems everyone else joined then too!

True, but you also would get that without paying for this pack. (I'm just saying  )
I dont get why there is no smaller pack like they was with LOR i got that 6 weeks ish before LOR came out. When ur a family man £200 uk pounds is way to much when u have a child to pay for.
Come on dev bring one out like the LOR starter pack
Introduction of "intelligence officers" = nice. It's not far off something I and others discussed in a KDF thread many moons ago. Pity a 4th class of playable character - Intelligence Officer - wasn't introduced... I think STO needs a new playable class before it needs more ships.
Sadly, nothing about DR is appealing to me anymore.
Those T6 ships are fugly. The Scryer looks like a desperate attempt to mash the USS Vengeance with a Luna class. Fail on both counts and just unappealing. I shall be sticking to my freely upgradeable Chel Gretts, DSDs and what have you and just enjoy the challenge being "sub-optimal" brings rather than shell out a penny on that T6 garbage. Unless people can skin their ships with unlocks they already have, those are going to put a lot of Trek fans off buying them (please note I said "lot" not "all", lot is subjective).
Talaxian outfits are missing the only one I'd have bought - Tuvix starfleet-talaxian combo - so no dice there.
Titles - m'eh.
BOFFs & DOFFs - again, m'eh.
Sorry, but this was a missed opportunity to give the players something truly new - a 4th playable class. Even as a pay class (like Favoured Soul or Artificer in DDO) would have been truly awesome and something I'd have put money into.
Sorry Cryptic - no sale. Oh, and giving every T6 ship a built in cloak just gives all those forum-goers complaining about how T5U is not as good/better than T6 ammunition and confirmation that they were right.

Step 1: Check Cryptic's ship design reject pile for ugly ships that nobody would buy.
Step 2: Tell the player base that their currently loved ships will be second rate in a few months.
Step 3: Offer the ugly ships in a bundle with some good designs held back for such an occasion, and offer the bundle at a significant (mysterious) discount.
hmm... build in cloaking
This is a slap into the face for all the people which have bought a ship that requires an universal console slot for the cloaking device.
I am sure these old ships will be best-sellers in future. *cough*
Not clear:
Is the $124.99 the discount price (so, regular price is $156.25)? OR,
Is the $124.99 the regular price, and the discounted price from now to launch is $99.99?

Let me guess : is this one of the reasons why STO old-timers don't often spend real money?

50. They then scale up with you to 60. It was in the general T6 ship dev blog.

If I can't use any of my Zen (that I have been grinding for over a month) to buy it, then I'm not going to buy it at all, period. Sorry Cryptic.
