I totally expect a t5 connie as a last t5 cashgrab. Why ?
1/CBS said no to "endgame" Connie, but soon T5 will not be endgame anymore. T6 will. Even upgraded T5 will not be T6, just like a Cstore T4 is not T5, but still quite close. No rules broken.
2/It will sell. Releasing a soon to be near obsolete ship right before the expansion would not work. Unless you sell something the fans have waited for years, and will buy no matter what. No other ship would sell as much right now.
I might be wrong, and they can go for a voyager bundle. Cheaper to make since they are already working on voyager for X2. So, even if they don't sell much, it was near free to make. But I suspect they keep an "upgraded" version of voyager as T6 bundle later this year (with some RP reason about why it's not a t5u but full t6 ship, and why our old voyager class ship can't be make t6).
I think they said that it was a ship never seen in STO before (the connie has but I suppose with Cryptic always playing the game of "it's not exactly what was said" a t5 connie hasn't been seen before.
That said, your logic makes a ton of sense, and I now wouldn't be surprised if Cryptic did it. Of course now we'd have to listen to 10 trillion posts on the forums all asking for the t5 connie to become a t-5u upgrade ship.

Or it could be something out of left field, because I'm certain we have other ships left.
There won't be. Historically they'll go into the scheduled downtime, and sometime during that, if not after the server comes back up, they'll tell you what it is.
Yeah - just thought that, with the mixed opinions about the T5 upgrade news they might have said something about the new ship to take the focus away from the whole T5-U thing for a bit.
