and if you dont have nuke you go ask geko how to counter ships with rsp on global cd that deal more damage than a escort and heal 4-5 times more than a escort

What about Teamwork? Can't say anything about 1v1, because i don't care.

    PvP is good for:
    1. exploding/dying every 2.3 seconds
    2. ruining my mood
    3. getting everything I use in PvE nerfed

    So no, I don't PvP.
Sometimes I think I play STO just to have something to complain about on the forums.

Rsp isn't the be all end all of not being able to kill someone.
I can just jump into a wells, and eat through his hull with warp plasma, gravity well and repulsors.
    While resisting his faw.

And as for coming across this in arena. The counter to it is also simple.

    /bind t target >$Target<

This command is OP and will ensure any players death. Regardless of if they have a shiny Rsp Global CD

Used to PVP often years ago(it's what Klingons had for content pretty much) when things where half decently balanced. Now that things are horribly unbalanced, it's nothing more than a waste or resources.

Oh, and not to mention no actual updates for PVP sense, well, ever??

Too bad, it was rather fun back in the day.

team work usually aint gonna work...most of my pugs kirk solo or come with those a2b xindi escorts that speed faster than your monitor refresh rate and BO thus doing damage based on luck :/

that is another BS power .You should not be able to burn his hull with IWP (not EWP)...I from Invisible. That thing is doing more damage than dhc...that is not normal...thou pretty much everything is doing more damage than dhc.

focus target wont work with Kirk in your team.Once I had Kirk,Picard and Mr.Spock in my team...literally ...i thought they teamed up like that for lols.

PvP is love, PvP is life.
I, wanna pvp all night, and vape every day
Yes I pvp. It's about the only fun thing left in this game. If you feel discouraged because you get blown up a lot, there's this awesome new shiny (actually old shiny, been around since the beginning of time) called improvement! Hit up a good fleet, HoBO's, Sad Panda's, Inner circle, and ask for help, or PM me in game :D
I don't claim to be the best, or even good at PvP, but I can point you in the right direction :) PvP is fun, challenging, and is extremely rewarding, especially team PvP

Exploding every 2 secs? You know, when ppl don't care to learn and understand some basic things like game mechanics or teamwork/coordination, it's pretty clear, that they won't be succesful. Btw. it's not the pvper's fault, that cryptic releases same stuff for pve and pvp, without even thinking about their effect on pvp.

I try to do arena pvp with every ship, depends on how busy the queues are when I try to get on. Seems like STO arena queues are busiest during peak european times, and almost no west coast players at all hardly.

    Does that count?

    Is it player vs player?

You should get out more though, vs a single opponent just tells you how to beat that guy.

    what mechanics?

2 bop 1 scimi 2 drain build sci vessels and 5 bug ships or 4 stealth 3 bug ships and 3 sci. You cant survive vs 2 stealth more than 10 sec (only if you use reverse shield polarity)

pvp is like: bop, scimi, temporal, bug ship combination.

so science is the dps class.

then delete tac ships and dhc if your sci is doing more damage than ships which in theory should do the damage.

    geko game design....

I forgot to mention, an escort pilot could take them down just as easy.

Just watch your enemy's buffs. Another OP Tactic along with the target bind.

Now now now, any class if built right can turn out massive ammounts of damage. A tac rommie using elachi weps and ar'kif is still something to fear, regardless of all the evul science cheese

    Too much BS... :(

What stealth are you talking about? Vapers? You know, there are plenty of ways to counter cloakers. BOP's are ****ing squishy, same with the Scimitar. Bugs aren't OP and i don't even know how you came to this completely absurd team setups, making no sense at all. If you have no clue, please be quiet...

I used to pvp a lot, now not so much. Between FAW, Romulan battlecloak houdini Vapers, and the crazy amount of energy weapon discharge sources, its just chaos. Also, in order to be competitive with the tiny amount of the playerbase who populate the ques daily to no end, i am forced to play certain builds and skills that I dont want to play.

And then there is the pvp community who cant agree on what is 'allowed' or not, so in most cases I do find a build I am comfortable playing... nuh unh, thats cheeze, or broken, etc. - Yet the things they like to use are okay.

Then there is assinine game mechanics that work fine in pve that just dont translate well into pvp, like a fully specced Feedback pulse. Not since Diablo 2's Iron Maiden in Chaos Sanctuary have I played a game with such a steep penalty for attacking someone. I get the strategy and all that around countering it, but its just too easy for one person by themselves to demand coordination of a whole team aqainst them being super cautious not to get themselved killed because someone pressed a single button. There is a reason no one played Chaos Sanctuary in Diablo 2 if they were a melee character, cryptic. you could learn a lot from other games. Remove FBP(Iron Maiden) so that energy weapon users (melee characters, ie: most everyone) can acually play without the constant fear of unavoidable death that you cant realize until it happens. Bliz removed IM, and CS became super popular again, it was a great lvl. Also, how in hell do you feedback pulse a cannon volley? Might as well Feedback Pulse Torpedos. Make Sense.

The tiny pvp playerbase is a problem for me also. As soon as a player gets good, that player becomes everyone's favorite target, so unless you play exclusively in premades, even if you do get good, own everything in the game, have tight keybinds, and consummate knowledge of the game mechanics.... you will jest get bullied by the same people in the ques match after match, to the tune of 'I dont want to target the pug' etc.

Coles Notes: Hardly anyone pvp's among the casual gamer playerbase. Its the hardcore/elitest "pvp-is-the-only-challenge-ai-bots-lol-boring-pve-2-ez" min/maxers who sit in the ques and smash pugs, boasting about how they are dominating the ques and no one can touch them.

I know, because I used to be one. minus the boasting.

yes because geko designed the game for kirks. In the past you had a class with dps role ,one for support ,other for debuffs. Now the debuff class can heal ,do damage and debuff at the same time...like i said geko game design.

I used to pvp a lot back in the day, but saw the writing on the wall when the bug ship was first released.

    I think I have maybe pvp'ed 2 or 3 times since then.

hmm. i am not and i still pew with a lot of "unconform" builds ;).

f.e. kumari, dhc-gal-x, a torp bomber i not met yet like, and some more. all ship-types included and no a2b's. if you want to make a ship viable in pvp, u can. i am very convinced by that! but it always also depends on the environment/team/opponents, that simple. sometimes it works, sometimes not. there are no "i-win"-buttons ;).

    Interesting response.

The last few times I've PVP'd, it seems only a minority (~20%) of players were *not* flying lockbox ships. Along with the insane speed of most PVP ships these days, this and the merged KDF / Fed teams are things that have caused me to stop the minimal PVP I was doing... it just doesn't feel like Trek, just a random assortment of ships speeding about...
