I dont spend money to kill npcs.I like to pop a ship with a human behind it then get here on the forums and read "I dont like pvp players coz they wreck my expensive pve ship" .That makes all the money.
Well to each there own, but there are those who would say what a waste (not I myself).
Some of these responses are absolutely hilarious. PvP is all there is once you've facerolled every ESTF, which doesn't exactly take skill anymore, even on ground.
No arguments there, but some prefer this level of fun, or simply prefer the grind to get what they need.
I think his point is the variety of different, challenging builds that pop up in PvP.
Compared to that of say, an STF.
I myself see a huge variety of builds in pve, and not so much in pvp, where it tends to IMO be more cookie cutter, or risk your own build at your own peril.
lolwat? PVP is full of people using the same ships, same weapons, and same tactics. It is just PVE with worst people then Hakeev.
Head into Ker'rat, tell me what you see.
Then head into an STF, most of the time you'll have 5 faw boats, and if no that, then you'll come across a different version of a faw boat. If you don't see none of the above, then they're probably in a dps scimitar, or a player who doesn't know much about the mission/game yet at all.
I dont spend money to kill npcs.Id rather pop a ship with a human behind it then get here on the forums and read "I dont like pvp player coz they wreck my expensive pve ship" .That makes all the money.
Irrelevant.
Everybody has their reasons for spending money in this game, which is a benefit for Cryptic/PWE's bottom line.
The PvE hardcores spend money to allow for speed runs to get the rewards faster, and act like five year old if the optional gets flubbed.
The elitists among the PvP crowd spend money so they can engage in an e-peen measuring contest, and brag about how they are so 1337.
The average gamer, both PvP and PvE, spend money because they like cool stuff and want to remain competitive (from their point of view).
I fall into category number three.
Your comments, seemingly, put you in category number two.
Elitist asshattery is a symptom of the disease that kills PvP in most games. That's why I dropped PvP a long time ago.

Uh, not sure what pve ques you have been in, but I sure don't get into many with more than 1 of the same vessel, and when there are more than 1, they are not always the same build type.
Besides, in pvp what do you have, beams or cannons?
Because it is even rarer, for someone to torpedo boat here, than in pve.
Heck yes! PvP with my Fleet (Elite Defense Starfleet) several nights a week in 5v5 Arena but the queues are sometimes sooo slow. We're casual players though, still learning the nuances and how to work together but always willing to include more newbies to get their PvP juices flowing.
We welcome friends from other fleets, and in fact a few better known pvp vets have been generous with their time and talent giving us some much appreciated advice and assistance. It's great fun, even when the premades spank us because we learn from and admire skillful play.
We try but don't always get a team of 3 Sci's and 2 Tacs. I'm flying a Wells sci (Tofu) and still don't quite have the build I want but that doesn't stop me from enjoying the matches. Have strengthened friendships in the Fleet and made new friends in other fleets. Yes, it's totally different from PvE and follows a different learning curve than max pve dps, which I love too. But give it a chance, don't do it on your own. Join a fleet or group up with people who are willing to help, heck send me an in game tell and join EDS (@sonulinu), and I assure you, it will be FUN!
op not asked for starting a discussion that probably will derail this thread in the long run . so i suggest the ones that already dropped their opinion on pvp may should have the courage to stay back a bit in all fairness.
of course everybody got opinions on pew, all fine wwith that. thx for dropping it. but plz not let ur e-peens destroy a serious request.
indeed i wonder why post in here at all if ya not pvp'ing, as it is almost off-topic. but for the ones that does i'd ask em to stay calm.

Here's my interpretation of a variety of builds in PvP.
Torpedo Boat
CC
Drain
Cannon Escort
BO Escort
Vaper
Healer/Tank
Premade Escort
Premade Science Vessel
Sci Vaper
Cruiser Beam Boat
Feedback Pulse
My point is most of this list wouldn't be applicable to an STF.
Random side question. I see FAW spam more in PVP then in STFs. Just me?
A minority does yes, but those players tend to take from what they have learnt in PVE, builds such as those are easily overcome. Just nuke of their buffs, and kill. Easy.

I still do for my youtube videos.
Not as much arena PvP anymore, though.

Sir, or Ma'am I applaud you for this post!
This is by far the truth.

Here's my interpretation of a variety of builds in PvP.
My point is most of this list wouldn't be applicable to an STF.
... and most of em (if not all) can be set up in many different ways . :x
Exactly, Different weapon types will have different effects.
I could list the shear variety available to PvP'ers for a whole hour and more.
Have seen all of these, make their appearance in pve at some point.
Praetor of the -RTS- Romulan Tal Shiar fleet!
Feels like you may have broke up a few types in order to make your list longer.
Also I see most of these builds in STFs.
Yeah, most of them just serve no purpose in a pve environment.
Yes, but as mentioned above, they're in fact very different to each other in use.
Sadly, the current stae of the PvP portion of the game is badly flawed in the balance area of things.
Thus, it's hard to get too excited about it.
I was, at first, really happy to see the shuttle PvP map added.
Sadly, without some radical move like severely restricting what gear shuttles can carry, its utterly broken as a game mode atm.
Something relatively simple like removing the ability to slot universal consoles on shuttles would get me right into that PvP mode at least.
Meh, yes, and no I suppose!
Either way, both realms make for people, to come up with new ideas for builds to test, all of the time.
So, all in all, I would say it is about equal.
Praetor of the -RTS- Romulan Tal Shiar fleet!
Just an attempt at mentioning the use of a Temporal Science Vessel in an arena match, compared to that of one in Ker'rat.
Premade - Viral Matrix disable
Ker'rat - CC Tractor Beam Repulsors, etc.
Using a viral build wouldn't be as feesable in Ker'rat with large amounts of targets.
and now everyone has a2b BO and rsp with doff.
