This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
so yeah, no.. I can see maybe purchasing wedding rings that denotes that the wearers are married.. maybe have it change the last name or something.. or even give a title..
but.. cross faction.. ummmm no. firstly, you spend 98 percent of the game at war with one of the other factions.
secondly as a fed. it was stated in canon that an officer needs the permission of a superior officer and a doctor to have interspecies relations. (just ask tucker from enterprise why, and ask harry kim as well.) that being said, who is going to give you this permission, and how would it be given in game? there would have to be a chance of no being the answer as well.
I am married in-game. A young lady player and I (yes, she really is female. We talk on TeamSpeak all the time) were married on Bajor at the Temple. The ceremony was officiated by our (at the time) Fleet Admiral. Nearly the entire fleet showed up for the wedding, along with some of our other friends. It was awesome
That took place about a year and a half ago. We still team to do missions and stuff as much as possible. So, if you wish to marry, it is easy enough to RP it. She changed her last name to match mine and we have fun in the process.
with the bonus that 2 married toons have soem sort of team/marriage buff if they are on the same map.
and with the ability to team up crossfaction when you both are married
creepy suggestion, all i see is the implications from the real world unknowingly. for example one person is a balding fat middle aged man, ill fitting filthy white tank top and blue checkered boxers sitting on his chair scratching himself in a pig stye of a room. the other end is a TRIBBLE boy learning his way with a parent watching from a distance, what happens one day if the two of them from their ingame toons decide to want to know who is on the other end? frankly i dont see this idea beyond that. its just like grooming in a sort of sexual predation type of way.
i wont official support such an idea from a moral standpoint mostly being highly suspicious of everything including myself, but unofficially as others point out if you wish to role play in private and do your game marriage there, then by all means, its not like its any of our business.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.

What about people who meet in online games and now are married with families? I got into a real relationship with a rather hot older women while playing UO ten years ago while in my twenties. I never expected anything from it at the begaining, we talk and role-played for fun and it grew into knowing each other personally. I got luckly that she was a attractive women, it was a surprize to me, when she e-mailed a pictue of herself. It didn't last but it was fun meeting her in real life. Sometimes good things happen playing these silly online games.
From an in-game role play standpoint I understand that Riker married Troi (while continuing to be her superior officer) and they served together on the Enterprise and on the Titan at the end of Nemesis.
However, there's no reason for the devs to waste time on something like adding a marriage mechanic to the game. If you want two characters to be married then that is what the "Biography" section on each player toon and each BOff can be used for.
Write a cozy little back story about how your toon and one of the BOffs fell in love and got married and put it right there in their bios. Or, if you're not into monogamy, write bios about how every BOff in your crew is a love interest for your toon onboard the U.S.S. Swinger ... whatever floats your boat in terms of role play ... just don't waste the devs' time with something like that.
In the immortal words of Captain Sisko: "It may not be what you believe, but that doesn't make it wrong."
Don't believe the lies in this forum. I am NOT an ARC user. I play STO on Steam or not at all.

Go play Rift if you want to get married in a game
If people could take their STO characters to said other game, get married, then bring them back, I'm sure they wouldn't have a problem with that 'suggestion'. But they can't.
All of the things that would support it are not in the game
Farming/mining/hunting/production/crafting...is comming/real medical not magic potions/food and medical drugs/ creating and supporting a player colony and player economy
mainly femle players would thrive and domminte such a system because there isnt a over abundance of pew pew in it
We had this in swg the first 2 years and female players were a huge part of it
being married was usually a good indicator to leave female character alone...In setting as described it would work well
Jellico....Engineer ground.....Da'val Romulan space Sci
Saphire.. Science ground......Ko'el Romulan space Tac
Leva........Tactical ground.....Koj Romulan space Eng
JJ-Verse will never be Canon or considered Lore...It will always be JJ-Verse
Wait, if I get married to some Dilithium digging %$^#! and then subsequently get divorced, does she get half of my ships?
Thank god I wasn't drinking anything when I read this at work, would of ended up on the computer monitor.

Since this thread has reached this far, it seems like there is good business in marriage.
500 Zen for a Specialty alien wedding dress and a 500 Zen Specialty Alien Tuxedo, but that's not all, 15000 Zen for in game rings that glow in the color of your choosing per bride or groom, and Once the happy couple have the tuxedo/dress & rings, the special synergy allows you to cue up to a special wedding scheduling list in which Tacofangs officiates.

I couldn't do half of that in the Foundry. The inflatable Nova-class floatation device is cute though.
A shotgun wedding?
exactly.. lol..

this idea just smells of unfortunate problems...

15500 Zen Seems like a fair price to build special content for the these very special people.
