Amelia: I don't recognize those names but it sounds like he met a Gen 3 synth. Gens 1 and 2 are basically walking toasters in terms of intelligence. You could call me a 2.5 the in between the 2 and 3. 3 are almost completely identical to normal humans with functioning synthetic flesh and organs. though they do have some other parts and don't seem to age.

so what did you hole up in this place for? i mean, the building's mostly intact, so it makes a good defensive location, but unless you've got a hydroponics bay in there or that other person i heard is also a synth, food must be a concern

(and i just realized CPL is the place where one of the game's more interesting quests takes place...and there really aren't many - bethesda spent way too much time on the settlement system and not enough on making the quests any good - at least not the main faction quests

some of the side ones are still good - especially the silver shroud and pickman quests, and the one that leads to kremvh's tooth)

Amelia: We trade with others like merchants. We even had a deal with raiders to provide them with power armor repairs and fusion cores but well they appear to have killed the reasonable one.

where are you getting fusion cores from? we could use a steady supply of those since we have someone using power armor, as you can see *he hikes a thumb at nate, then stops and looks around the main lobby of the building* and when do we get to meet the person whose voice we heard over that intercom?

Amelia: He doesn't like to meet new people.

???: *Loudspeaker* Its alright Amelia I don't think we have to worry about the usual things with these people.

Amelia: very well then. *she clearly doesn't like the idea of leading them to her friend but is willing to do so. She opens the front door and leads them in a few rooms before stopping.* Please forgive his appearance. *she opens the door to one of the labs and in it is what appears to be a supermutant operatin a ham radio that was probably broadcasting to the speakers. His face doesn't have the usual pock marks and scarring and deformities that all supermutants have. Its still slightly deformed but much less than it should be. He is wearing what appears to be scrapped T51 power armor with the insides gutted to fit him. underneath that he's wearing something similar to the jumpsuits the brotherhood of steel wear but older like something an old soldier might have worn*

Ethan: Debatable. *shrugs* Anyway you asked why we holed up here well originally I figured this place would be great to try and loot but I discovered that before the bombs fell this place was experimenting with power armor for the T51 series. Had a couple old units like the one I'm wearing lying around and a few fusion cores which I traded for stuff. I learned how to repair power armor from the stuff in here and helped out a few people here and there for supplies.

what were they experimenting on? nate's suit is T-51 - if it's something that they managed to finish before the bombs fell, we might be able to use it

Ethan: They almost finished a prototype with a new coating. But from what I read it would only be useful on an actual suit of power armor so I never bothered trying to finish it. I think you might be able to but it probably can't make more than one.

if there's only enough for one coat, it might be better to leave it until you've finished modifying that armor to your taste, then apply the coating on top of that *he says to nate*

Ethan: It converts radiation into power allowing you to more efficiently use fusion cores. (lets face it, it making your stamina regenerate faster makes no sense this sounds better.)

(half the stuff in fallout doesn't make sense...they don't use the same universal laws ours does, because radiation does not mutate people in any way that doesn't involve a slow, agonizing death, nor does it turn them into walking corpses in our universe)
