Again, the rewards - the loot - in Ker'rat is based on the map being a PvPvE zone. If they removed the PvP, they would need to reduce the rewards. The Borg that are there would not provide the challenge alone to provide the rewards that Ker'rat does.

And there are plenty of places to farm that there are no CDs - there are plenty of places where even with CDs, you can farm across multiple toons, etc, etc, etc.

they wouldnt need to reduce the rewards if they took away the pvp part of it cause its ahrd enough flattening a borg cube....not like i can sit there and use no abilities and flatten away. not like i can come in there and flatten a cube with a hodge podge of TRIBBLE on my ship no matter what ship that is. so reduce the rewards nope. not like the rewards are better anyway for a pvper ganking while flattening cubes so your completely wrong imho to say reduce the rewards.

I am deeply sorry I ever saw this thread. The rapidity of the OP's responses indicates this person isn't interested in facts and is only wasting everyone else's time. This thread can only get sillier the longer it gets.

As a counter to this, I will now take my Scimi (which has every cheese console known to STO :D) to Ker'rat ASAP and gank every Fed farmer in the place. To the exclusion of doing anything else ever again in STO. Been lookin' for a reason to blow the dust off R.R.W. Doomwalker anyways. Now I have one, OP. Thank you for encouraging the dark side of my nature. Thank you as well for volunteering to become my newest hobby. Much appreciated. And whenever some SpoonFed farmer curses at me in Chat, I'll be sure and mention your name and how my ganking them is all your fault. Had you not insisted on being right in public no matter what, to the length this thread has now reached, the idea honestly wouldn't have occurred to me

So, Scimi pilots out there, whose with me? Wanna come along and make Ker'rat a place which is farmer free for the rest of time? Plenty of delicious SpoonFed farmer tears to drink for all.

Seriously? you are farming borg in a Romulan with a Scimitar, it is ridiculously easy. There is no way Cryptic will let you Feds farm so much borg cubes and repair hulks without a serious challenge like PVP, just accept it.

You know...in those rare instances I've popped into Ker'rat, generally to TRIBBLE around and thus not really taking it too seriously (not really trying very hard at all really) and the KDF cloakswarm starts going on the rampage, I've always seen it get stopped when the Fed players stopped running around like chickens with our heads cut off and grouped together to actually fight back instead of trying to solo the entire enemy team.

The enemy team then tended to get bored and run off to find some disorganized Feds to slaughter.

But that's just my extremely limited experience considering I only go in there 'cause it's funny on rare occasions. Still, food for thought...

The only thing wrong with Ker'rat is the annoying reset that interrupts PvP fights and maybe a couple of Borg getting stuck on object meshes. Drop the zone reset and call it a day.

Nothing wrong with Ker'rat.....I am a Fed...when i warp in, i know there is a good chance i will be the target of a KDF attack, and if not, well then, i will farm till it resets or i become a target or i Target a KDF and help when i can, my Fed allies, If i die in 1 sec:(, or survive:)....no worries:cool:....it is a GAME, learn from your mistakes and carry on. Get off your high horse and enjoy the game.

Ker'rat can be good fun when there's enough players in there.

I find it a bit boring when its only one faction in there and we steamroll through the borg in minutes.

With a decent amount of PvP thrown in it can be good fun, sneaking up on players already engaged with the borg and nuking them before they know whats hit them!

I think to improve it slightly i'd get rid of the timer aspect where you warp out/in after every round, just make it persistent like Defera is but keep adding in random objectives every so often.
Nothing ruins the fun more than the zone resetting just as you've got a good PvP engagement going.

As one of the BoP pilots (Ralen is the name, if it rings a bell) I think I gotta add something. I stopped reading at page 6 where Jayden said something about ppl like me not doing PVE. Quite the contrary. I regularly do PVE content with my B'rel.

Jayden, playing a torpedo boat is not as easy to pull off as you make it out to be.
It's hard actually since every escort just shrugs off my stuff, even subnuces. Do I go on the forums and cry about my build being ineffective against A2D builds? No. I look for different targets.

Yeah I attack farmers. If people think they can safely FAW their way through a PVP zone I'll be there gladly to prove them wrong (or die trying).
Sometimes I even attack whole groups of Feds in my B'rel. Sometimes I manage to get some epic kills sometimes I get killed time and time again. Do I cry because of it? No I suck it up and move on.

And yes: I attack any Romulan I see, even stopping attacking some Fed who I could kill, only to go for the Romulan instead. Why? Romulans are overpowered and everyone knows it, so killing them and trolling them out of a zone is all they deserve. I shadow them when they are cloaked and when they least expect it, I drop my packages.

    Scimitards deserve nothing less.

and the true problem of ker'rat. you want to test your build against other player ships then go to the arena. you want to farm....well you go to ker'rat cause no where else is there that ec farming can be done so rapidly. its because of the difficulty level of attacking borg cubes that mk xii rare drops occur and for people coming up in the game they need those till they can get fleet stuff. IF THE DEVS WANTED TO APPROACH THIS GAME AS A GAME THAT YET FOLLOW THE BRAND AS WELL THEN TAKE PVP OUT OF KER'RAT LEAVE IT IN THE ARENAS AND IF YOU WANT TO PRE-TEST YOUR BUILD(S) BEFORE GOING TO THE ARENAS THEN YOU NEED TO BE ABLE TO ATTACK NPC'S SHIPS THAT ARE JUST AS CAPABLE AS PLAYER SHIPS.....THE LAST PART WE KNOW DOESN'T EXIST IN THIS GAME. nps'c can't alpha gank bo3 or tachyon detection grid and very few and far between do they have the ability to viral matrix. a combination of pvp and pve though is too much. cause your either setup for pve or pvp there is no viable in between given the game current setup. i unlike the enterprise can not have and endless course of action against an enemy ship cause in the game its heat of the moment not wait and formulate a plan.

This isn't Farmville, the game isn't about farming.

If the developers wanted you to easily farm, they would have created such a zone. There is plenty of evidence that they don't want it, because easily farmeable stuff is usually removed, often even hurting "legitimate" users of a zone or mission type. (Examples for example would the Foundry, and PvP repeatable missions.)
If they took away the PvP out of Ker'rat, the next thing they would do is cut rewards.

And still there is no reason to shut it down.

People obviously play in it and enjoy it for what it is. If you don't, that just means you should not go there and do something else.

I am not particularly interested in Dabo, but people play it. Great for them, I'll do something else.

Why the heck is this thread in PvE forum again ...

Jayden ... I am going to reduce my argument to lowest common denominator for you to understand.

    1) If you show up in a PvP zone with a FAW Fail-tard build hoping to farm millions of EC then you are going to get pummeled.

    &&

    2) If you whine about it endlessly and refuse all help and guide advice then you are going to get pummeled even harder ... in Ker'rat and PvP forum.

    &&

    3) If you bait the KDF and then bring your lackeys to gank them ... then you are going to be pummeled HARDER YET?

    Do you see the pattern?

I've gone into Ker'rat in a no-frills Mirror Negh'Var with free gear, not even any rep gear, underline, and done just fine. I don't even own a Scimitar on my Fed Rom; my Fleet D'D works fine.

Flying a Scimitar in PVP automatically paints a target on your back. The ship has a reputation for being absurdly OP, and what idiots like jayden don't get is that behind the absurd numbers top Scimmy jocks put up, there's a hell of a lot of minmaxing to get every last possible iota of damage out of it, and above all one hell of a good pilot who has mastered the timing and the situational awareness required. Therefore a Scimitar is presumed a free kill until proven OP, because most of them are flown by idiots who thought just owning the ship would automatically make them OP. That is not true of any ship in the game.

Case in point: The OP's build that he linked earlier. I can see several problems with it and I'm not even that great at building ships:
    • You're using Fleet Advanced Plasma DHCs. Fleet plasma is garbage. Romplas works way better, and with as few turn boosts as you've got you're better off with dual beams and FAW3. This also synergizes with the weapons power boost from your dual aux2batt, since beams benefit from overcapping where cannons don't.
    • You have one active set bonus from your experimental romplas beam and your ZPM. Other than that you're using an 8472 deflector with a MACO shield, and I don't know WTF kind of engine you're using because the tetryon plasma engine is a shuttles-only drive.
    • The biomolecular torp is crud for fighting anything but Undine. Dump it and use the Dyson grav torp, or better yet the Romulan hyper-plasma.

And finally, every build has its weaknesses. My Fed Tac's Avenger has serious problems with CC powers (which is why I hate Viscous Cycle with a passion). My KDF Engi's Tor'Kaht is a bit of a glass cannon.

Fix your build and learn to fly, otherwise stay away from Ker'rat and go farm STFs for your Mk XII gear.

Going to put in my two cents and head out.

Have gone to ker'rat once now with my fleet. Well two people from my fleet. I went in clueless. . . Left that way too as I still don't know how to farm in there, or the scanner thing.
Everything was fine, my fleet lead got jumped by a fed cruiser and destroyed. So I took out the fed. (And promptly found myself in the middle of too many borg to not be vapour. )
Summation: from what I saw, the zone is fine. The players are not too abusive. But it is one of the only war zones there was, so yeah. PvP. Relax and have a cup of tea. Then find somewhere to farm that is not a PvP zone if you do not want to get shot at.

What do you mean it isn't easy to flatten a borg cube? I can quite happily sit my fleet Excel in the middle of a group of them and lol. Heck, Even my sci's fleet Nova doesn't care much for cubes... You sir seriously need to get more practise with your build.

Why not just leave Kerrat as it is, and add a non PVP version of the map against borgs.

    That would make everybody happy.

Ker'rat is a PvP zone, with minor Borg chicanes. If you go there to farm you are doing it wrong.

Also, you are using a Scim one of the most powerful ships in STO, yet you find it difficult to take a single Cube? That is terrible, even my Vulcan's Mirror Star Cruiser can take down two normal Cubes simultaneously, and can tank a Tac Cube for everything it can do (cant kill one on her own yet, not enough damage dealing ability...) and every PvP built Scim pilot I know can destroy her Star cruiser within 4 seconds or less if I'm not concentrating, and at most 3 attack passes if I am. You need to learn to fly a Scim...

Heck, even my Level 31 Klink's unfinished floating brick of a Tier 4 Vor'cha can just about 1 vs 1 a Cube with good luck and someone else to distract it while buff cooldowns run out...

Because the reward scheme is based upon it being a PvEvP zone. If you remove the PvP, you would need to reduce the rewards to reflect the reduced challenge...or...you'd have to increase the difficulty massively to reflect the reduced challenge.

I hadn't been there, and eventually I might try it one day. Just to see what its about. However I don't think they don't need to remove it. As many see it a place to have fun. Many enjoy that type of action. Trying to take out targets for loot, and trying not to be a target for other players on top of that.

Games are meant to be fun, so at least this is a way to have fun if you like that type of action. I say leave it alone. Why not create another place like this, make it more interesting.

I finally bought those things. And I think it is highly overrated. I have several smaller ships that survive better and dishout way better damage. The thalaron pulse, everytime I have gone to use it has been so slow that those around me killed everything in my cone before it finally fired. I am honestly considering going back to my vet destroyer.

    snipped for trash talking

Alright... Remember me and Ralen that I need to pop a thalaron on you, and record it.

That being said, I think I got who you are in ker'rat, piloting a scimitar with faw that didn't make anything go boom except NPCs and itself.

I have the same ship class, how come I don't suffer these problems?

If someone uses GWs or TBR I have AtD and automatically they're useless. Tractor beam, I use Polarize Hull. Need to get rid of someone, Marion will do the work for me. Subnukes, ST1 handy. Starting to get too many debuffs I can't clear or a b'rel is having fun disabling me? One click build switch that loads WCE cleanse, a HY3 biomolecular torpedo that will one shot 'em down unless they raise shields aka decloaking or run as fast as they can.

If you can't counter them, probably its because you sucks so much you don't even realise it, because you feel cool in flying a Scimitar. To me, you're an insult to it.

I have to bring my romulan Hobo counterpart there as well. Doh... it needs gear... but after this reading I have to.

What I do with Ker'rat to not be ambushed? I keep RSP handy and stay close to the borg. Although I do hate it when I take a tac cube on, kill it and get ambushed. There is no honour in that.

One tried to do that to me, I killed him quickly and hunted him for the next ten minutes, with a squad of federation warships. I don't go in unescorted. I go in with a team or ensure there's several fed ships. If it looks like a good pvp matchh, I'll join in and aggro the cubes to join in as well. It's terrific. It's chaos. It's war!
