Jacob sat in the Romulan control room, reading over a report on his PADD. He was beginning to have trouble reading the words, and was getting confused why. Looking around, he saw that the room was spinning, and he could barely make out T'Vrell next to him. He stood up, and stumbled around, barely keeping his balance. He took one step towards T'Vrell, and passed out.
Jacob awoke and saw the face of his ships doctor standing over him. Looking around, he saw he was in a medbay, but it was not the one on his ship. He went to sit up, and noticed that he could use his right arm. Looking down, Jacob saw that there was a silver brace on his arm that would allow him to move it, despite the severe burns of his arm. As he sat up, he heard the doctor start to speak, "You had internal bleeding in the chest that T'Vrell couldn't detect at the base. We hypothesize that when the plasma burned your arm, the heat also ruptured several blood vessels in you chest, allowing the to bleed. We managed to keep you alive, thanks to the emergency transporters you had, as T'Vrell beamed you straight here. However, the burns were too severe to allow for unassisted movement of your right arm. You may choose to keep the brace, or have it removed and replaced with a prosthetic. However, right now I want you to rest. You may tell me your decision tomorrow."
Jacob lay back down, and closed his eyes. He had so many questions, but on the doctors orders, he waited for the next day to ask them.
OoC: If Chris doesn't come back soon, and prierin is okay with this, I will just say that the raid went well. I am only doing this to progress the story since Chris disappeared for an extended time without warning.
Aiel answered, looking at the young woman with mild curiosity.
"Jolan Tru" she said, adding "What do you want?"
She rubs the back of her neck.
"It's, uh, just that I saw you and that young Romulan hanging around here a lot. And I haven't seen you in a while sooo... I was wondering if you knew about what, uh... happened to him?

Aiel raised an eyebrow in a rather condescending manner. "Do I know you? Have we met somewhere before that you would address me in such a familiar manner? I don't know where your boyfriend is. Dead, most probably. Is there anything else? If not," she added, "leave me."

A cold smile slowly spreads across the woman's face.
"Okay. Three things. First, not my boyfriend, everyone assumes he was yours, or at least an aquaintance. Second, yes he's dead. Murdered in his house like a cornered animal, if you wanted to know. Thirdly, stop being a b*tch to your neighbors, okay? Not a good way to start a relationship." she says coldly.
She turns and waves at a passing friend.
"Now, if you excuse me, I have work to do..." she says. Then turns and walks away.

Aiel shakes her head and closes the door. Locks it for good measure. So, the pirate's dead. One less distraction to deal with. she thought to herself as she sat at the table and opened a small metallic case. Inside were three vials filled with a strange, green fluid.
Still, something about that woman ate at Aiel. It wasn't her rudeness or seeming over-familiarity, it was something... else. One thing she had learned is that no one simply knocks on a stranger's door for no reason. Aiel stood and moved to another container, opening it and strapping the weapon she had been issued to her thigh. A seemingly innocuous plasma pistol, attuned to Aiel's DNA alone, but carried a far deadlier threat than mere plasma. A sure enough hit would infuse the target with adapted Borg nanoprobes programmed to deconstruct biological matter at a biomolecular level. By the time the target realizes they're dying, it would be far too late.
She took one of the vials and slipped it into her pocket, then prepared herself for what was to come next. Leaving the house and securing it firmly, she began her trek torwards the Embassy.

OOC: No, but I supposedly had him killed off by Klingons. Though your going to have to read back(not much was written in your absence) to get it fully.

The path continues for some time, becoming danker and darker with every meter. Aahuus can tell by the pressure in his ears and the sudden drop in temperature that he's moving at a steady descent. At this rate he'll be under a mountain of granite in less than 20 minutes, making his comm useless.
As he continues forward, he is unaware that a silent alarm has been triggered by his presence.
Talven looked up from his work as an alarm began to ring on his console. He frowned, then looked over his shoulder to the two Hirogen guards stationed with him. They were distracted by their own conversation, thankfully, and hadn't heard the alarm. Talven silenced it to ensure they wouldn't. 'Would she be foolish enough to return?' He thought to himself. Not convinced the answer was 'no', he stood and stretched.
"I'm going to stretch my legs." He said, "I'll be back i ten minutes."
The Hirogen moved forward to escort. "No," Talven raised a hand to stop them, "when I said "I" I in no fashion inferred "we". Remain here and guard the equipment."
"Those are not our orders." One of the Hirogen hissed. "We are to move when you move, go where you go."
"Suit yourselves." Talven quipped, "The quantum spectrometer has been acting a little funny these past few days, showing some erroneous readings. I was going to realign the sensors in the west cavern on my walk but you're certainly welcome to accompany me, as boring as it would be. Of course," he added, "we'll be approaching the entrance to the cave... perhaps you two could stand to stretch your legs a bit too, no? Maybe get some hunting in? I've noticed a herd of Sailbacks wandering nearby."
The Hirogen glance to one another, then nod to Talven. "Fine. But we reconvene at the mouth of the cave in fifteen minutes."
Talven nods. "Seems fair."
They head out, coming to an intersection. "The sensors are down here about ten meters. The entrance is down that cavern. Happy hunting." The Hirogen head off, eager for a little hunt.
'Now... let's see what our guest is up to...' Talven thinks to himself as he heads towards the tripped alarm.

Aahuus has been stopping every few yards and listening for footsteps. Hirogen may be excellent hunters, with the use if technology, but nothing can extinguish the sound of boots in a small, dark, wet place like a cave. He stops now and takes a breath, quieting his breathing and heart. Then listens.
He hears a few drips, a few rocks tumbling, his breathing. He was about to give up when he hears the distant sound of steps in the cave. From in front or behind was difficult, but that doesn't matter.
He quickly backs up against the wall of the cave, then slide down it and assumes a position that makes it look like he's dead. He un holsters his weapon, then let's his arm fall as if he had been killed while aiming. He places the spear next to him, as if it was dropped in suprise.
Jacob woke up again, still in the medical bay. He lay there in the bed, and thought about what he would do. Deciding he wanted more information about both of the choices, he called the doctor over. "I want information about this brace. I pretty much understand how a prosthetic works, but this brace is... intriguing, to say the least," Jacob said.
"This brace works by bridging the gap in your arm's nervous connections that was caused due to the burn. It plugs into a socket on your shoulder and your hand, allowing you to control your digits. It also plugs into your elbow to let you bend your arm, although this is the brace itself, not your own arm. It works by interpreting the signal from your mind and translating it into motion of your elbow. Your motion should work just like it used to, but it will be less defined, so it will require physical therapy to get used to the control, although you will be able to hit harder with this arm. You will be required to remove this brace whenever you sleep, and you will attach it on the outside of the uniform. However, we interfaced a brace into your armor, allowing to wear the armor without needing the brace. Any more questions?" the doctor said.
"Yes, how did the raid on the base go?" Jacob asked.
"As far as I know, the raid was successful, and the prisoners were released. Also, we apparently gathered a lot of information, but as I am a doctor, I don't know that much. I believe that a briefing was left in your ready room, encrypted to your DNA. Now, have you decided which option you will want, or do you need more time?" The doctor replied.
Jacob though for a little bit, "I am not ready to completely remove my arm, I believe this brace will work just fine. Now, if it is okay with you, I would like to return to the my ship to read the briefing."
"You may do so. I will check you out at the main desk in five minutes. Your stuff is in the storage room on the first floor. I will have the quartermaster sign it out to you." The doctor said, leaving the room. Jacob stood and walked out towards the turbolift, hitting the button for the quartermaster's officer. He checked out his gear, signed out of the medical facility, and beamed up to his ship. In his ready room, he noticed he had two messages, the first is the mission briefing, and the second one is instructions for his therapy to get used to his brace. Jacob looked over the device, and noticed that the wristband also included several other features, including a personal cloaking device, a built in tricorder, one of Jacob's own modified ones, nonetheless, and an emergency transporter. The silver device ran up the outer part of his arm, stopping at a shoulder attachment. Returning his attention to his computer, he opened up the mission briefing again.

Then, he waits.
"Better safe than sorry..." Aahuus thinks.
The footsteps continue to come closer. However, they are not the heavy booted steps of the Hirogen, but a softer, lighter step. A few moments later Talven enters the corridor. He doesn't see Aahuus at first in the darkness; he nearly trips over him. He stops and kneels, pulling out a tricorder and scans.

Aahuus' hand leaps out of the dark, and grips the hand with a tricorder. He puts the disruptor the Romulan's temple and looks him in the eye. Not that he can see it, through Aahuus' goggles.
"Who are you, and what are you doing here?" Aahuus asks.

"My name is Talven and I am a xenobotanist and geothermal scientist!" he yelps, hands in the air. "You've tripped one of the proximity sensors. If you care to look, you will see I am unarmed."

Aahuus stands up, bringing Talven with him. He quickly let's go of the tricorder, then searches him one handed for weapons. When that turns up nothing, Aahuus holsters his gun and picks up his spear.
"Sorry about that. You can never be to sure." Aahujs says happily, holding out a hand. "I'm Aahuus by the way."
Talven can't see any expression on Aahuus' face because of the clothe.

"Well, Aahuus," Talven says, dusting himself off and pocketing his tricorder. "We've established my presence here... now may I ask, what are you doing here? The last I heard these caves were still considered prohibited by civilian personnel." His mind flashes to the Hirogen. They have about five minutes left before their return. "And trust me, the powers that be take security rather... seriously... here."
'What now?' Talven thinks, 'If I send this guy back to the main entrance he'll undoubtedly run directly into the Hirogen, and I can't leave him here...'
Suddenly he has a thought. "Would you care to see my lab?" He asks with a smile.

Aahuus looks at Talven incredulously. Seconds ago he'd been talking along the line of get out, now he wants Aahuus to see his lab.
Is this some kind of strange pick up? Aahuus thinks. Nah, doesn't look the type... maybe...
Aahuus shrugs. "Sure. Though I do wonder exactly what a xenobiologist is doing in a cave by himself..." he says" You sure you're not a psychopath?"
Jacob finished reading the report, and was happy to see that the prisoners were all rescued, and several Tal'Shiar secrets had been uncovered. Satisfied with the results, Jacob shut down the file, and opened up the therapy file. It was a lengthy list of instructions, and it seemed fairly complicated. The first parts were simple enough, wiggle your fingers, try to grab a glass mug without shattering it, etc., but it got harder as it went along. Jacob knew the importance, however, and kept at it for about three hours. When he had finally finished the exercises, he noticed that there was a slight improvement in his fine motor skills in his right arm, but he would need a lot more time.
After Jacob headed back to his quarters, his curiosity took over. Taking his tool kit out, he undid the arm brace, removing it from his arms. This process starts by releasing the wristband, and then taking the brace out of the connecting sockets at his wrist, elbow, and shoulder. When it was removed, he instantly lost control of his right arm, he could see the metal sockets that connected the electrical brace to his nervous system. He placed the brace on his desk, and started scanning it. For he wanted to be able to repair it if he needed to.
(Several Hours Later)
Jacob had been tinkering with the brace for hours, and had added several functions to it, as well as increasing the capabilities of the included functions. He took his improved brace, and reattached it to his arm. Flexing his fingers, he noted marked improvement in his control of his grip strength, one of the features he had improved. He quickly did a few of the simpler rehab exercises, and noticed that they were a lot easier and more successful than earlier. Happy with his new brace, he headed to the transporter room, beaming down to his house on on New Romulus, and getting ready for the next day. He would once again be heading out, but this time it would be to the caves, a place where the information gained from the Tal'Shiar base listed as having a Tal'Shiar prescense, as well as Hirogen. Since his current orders were to investigate the Hirogen, he wanted to check it out.
Aahuus looks at Talven incredulously. Seconds ago he'd been talking along the line of get out, now he wants Aahuus to see his lab.

"Well, one can never be too sure about anything, really. And I am a xenobotanist, not a xenobiologist." Taven says with a laugh. "And I never said I was alone. I just prefer privacy from the common population to conduct my studies on the native flora of Dewa III. It's actually quite remarkable."
They walk for a short while until finally coming to the lab. It's more brightly lit and a more comfortable temperature than the dark, dankness of the caves. Several experimentation bays filled with various plants and scientific equipment fill the room. On the far side of the room is a desk and console littered with paperwork and a computer, obviously where Talven spends most of his time.
He turns to you, his smile fading only slightly. "Now, what, exactly, are you doing in these caves, if I may ask?" He then looks to his watch, adding "You have most probably 90 seconds to advise me before my... associates... return from their walk."

Aahuus smiles and casually puts his hand on his disruptor. Then takes a quick look around to find cover if this ones associates are who he thinks they are.
"I was looking around one of the last known places a friend of mine was. Perhaps you saw her? About yeh high with short hair. Romulan, pretty, but looks like she has a pole shoved up her TRIBBLE most of the the time?" Aahuus says, describing Aiel.
He keeps an eye on the door, and a firm grip on his disruptor.

He leads Aahuus to a wall console and opens it, exposing a small, cramped space. "It's a tight fit, but it should of. Hurry, we don't have a lot of time." As Aahuus manages to squeeze in and Talven gets the door closed, the sound of the two Hirogen approaching can be heard.
"The hunting here is pathetic. These animals are all but domesticated." One says.
"Then hunt the green-blooded, two-legged prey instead." The other chortles.
"Back so soon?" Talven asks.
Both Hirogen look to him with contempt. "Not that I don't mind seeing you." Talven adds quickly, "It's just the proximity sensors in the southwest cavern has been going off like crazy and I thought you might want to check it out."
They look to one another, then the larger of the two says, "Probably a lost epohh. You stay here with the little man, I'll go find the thing and end it."
"The sensors are showing something larger than an epohh." Talven offered. "It may be nothing but we did have that intruder here two weeks ago. Maybe someone's allowed their curiosity to get the better of them again. Perhaps you both should go."
The two exchange another look.
"Or not. I can understand." Talven says. "Of course, if it is larger game, it may prove for a much better hunt. These caves can be rather treacherous and challenging. A scared animal, cornered. Who know what it would do if trapped between freedom and the two of you?"
A smile plays across the smaller Hirogen's lips. "You stay. I'll go."
"Like hell you will." The other grumbled. After a few rude exchanges, both Hirogen leave the room, weapons at the ready.
Talven counts in his head until the sound of their footsteps can no longer be heard, then opens the console and helps Aahuus out from his hiding spot. "Leave. Now. Take the eastern tunnel and it will lead you directly out of here. Don't dillydally; those two have VERY short attention spans. Once they learn there's nothing in the cavern they'll be back, and rather upset, I'd wager."

Jacob looked over the supplies he had gathered, and then glanced at the time. Realizing that it was still afternoon, he changed his mind and decided to head to the caves today. He gathered the gear onto his belt and headed out. Walking to the transporter pad, he double checked that he had everything he needed. Once he was sure, he stepped onto the pad and beamed to the caves.
When he rematerialized at the caves, Jacob looked around. He scanned the area, and found that someone had been through the area recently. Following the path that the person had went, he walked into the cave. However, he didn't get very far before he heard footsteps approaching. Scanning again, he detected two Hirogen life signs up ahead. Getting ready, he drew his phaser and activated his cloaking device, pressing himself against the side of the cave, waiting.
Talven shakes his head, then sighs. "Come with me. Quickly."

A small smile plays on Aahuus' lips. So this is the one he was looking for.
"Oh, I think they'll be very upset..." he says. Then strikes Talven on the neck, in a similar manner to a vulcan neck pinch. The picks him up and hurries out of the cave.
The extra weight slows Aahuus a little, but not much. Scientists that spend time in caves tend not to weigh much. He quickly exits the eastern way, and goes a safe distance away. He calls the Styx to beam them up.
Aahuus and Talven remateralize on the pad. "So, you brought me a present. How kind..." H'Gall says, then nods toward some klongons to carry Talven to a cell.
"Yes well. This one had some rather interesting bodyguards. Hirogen..." Aahuus replies. Then watches the klingons. "Be gentle withth that one! He may not be tal'Shiar!" He yells at them.
"May not be?" H'Gall asks.
"He was rather nice. Hid me from his little buddies, who may be his captors." Aahuus says and shrugs.
"Well then, since you're the one he saved and you're the one who captured him, we'll have you interrogate him." H'Gall says with one of his smiles.
"...Okay..." is all Aahuus says.
They make their way to the brig, where Talven is being held. Aahuus stands in front of the cell, with H'Gall a little off to the side.

[OOC]How do I play this... they're on high alert and cranky....[/OOC]
The two Hirogen scan the caves as they walk, their equipment tuned to assist them in their hunt.
"There's nothing here. Let's go back." The smaller of the two says and turns to head back the way they came.
The larger one reaches out and stops him. He says nothing; taps his visor and points to the cavern floor. The smaller one lowers his visor and scans the floor as well.
Footprints, caught in infrared. From the look of them, very fresh, leading to where Jacob is hiding. They draw their weapons and creep to follow, their senses turned on the intent of the kill. However, the footsteps just... stop.
They wait for him to regain conciousness.
Talven moans as he wakes, his head swimming and his neck killing him. He sits up and gathers his bearings. Seeing his predicament, he panics.
"What have you done?! Release me at once! I'll have you reported, to D'Tan himself I must!"

Aahuus grimaces. This guy whines like a little girl.
"Okay, mon chere. The thing is, we're sanctioned by D'Tan to do this. A little tal'Shiar search. And seeming as Hirogen work for the tal'Shiar, and you have Hirogen guarding you... let's just say it doesn't put you in a flattering light..." he says, then gestures to a klingon to open the cell.
Aahuus walks in slowly, and does a twirl to show he is unarmed. He nods to the klingon, who closes the cell.
"Now, I'm just going to ask a few questions, hopefully with your cooperation." he says slowly. "Will I have your cooperation?"

After a few deep breaths he looks back at you with an even stare. "I have no idea what it is you're after and, frankly, I don't care, but you have to return me to my lab immediately!"

Aahuus leans against the wall. So it was forced labor with this one.
"Mon chere, I'm pretty sure I understand." he says, alreadt running through the classic tal'Shiar loyalty methods. "Let me guess, they have your family locked away. Or a device in your head that kills you. Or they promised to kill someome important to you."
He gets up from the wall and walks to the middle again, then looks Talven in the eye.
"Most likely their already dead, if it's a somebody. If it's the kill switch, then we should really hurry up then." he says coldly.
Jacob crouched silently as the Hirogen approached. Waiting for them to be within striking distance, Jacob drew his phaser as they got closer. Holding it in his left hand, he suddenly decloaked himself and struck out with the palm of his right hand, the brace increasing his strength, allowing for him to shatter the skull of the larger Hirogen. While the smaller one was startled, Jacob stunned him with a shot from his phaser. Placing a transporter beacon on both Hirogen, Jacob told the Competitor to beam them to the recently cleared brig. He continued down the dark passageway.
OoC: Prierin, cave description like you did with Kuntel please.

"Since we are pressed for time, I will ask in spitfire, you answer in spitfire." he explains. "First, what is your full name, your next of kin, who do you work for, why do you work for them, and what do you do for them?"
H'Gall nods to a Klingon, who then hits a button, having the conversation recorded.

[OOC] Of course not... the story can adapt as we move forward so alls good as far as I can tell. [/OOC]
[OOC: bring me up to speed - is Stelam actually dead? What'd I miss? [/OOC]
OOC: No, but I supposedly had him killed off by Klingons. Though your going to have to read back(not much was written in your absence) to get it fully.
Aahuus walks to the begining of the cave, the one that supposedly a young Romulan was attacked by a Hirogen in. He looks it up and down, then tightens his grip on his gin-tak spear.
"Here goes nothing..." he says, then walks inot the cave.
The cave itself is unimpressive; several luminous lichens and fungi grow, shedding a faint light the deeper you move into the cave itself. You come to a "Y" intersection, the path dividing slightly.
He shrugs his shoulders.
"Eanie, meanie, minie, mo. F*ck this I'm going this way." he mutters as he goes left.
He checks his wrist to see if his comm was still on, so that the ship could folloa his position.
[OOC}LOL[/OOC]
Then, he waits.
"Better safe than sorry..." Aahuus thinks.
Talven shakes his head, then sighs. "Come with me. Quickly."
