the fact you think i'm in emotional turmoil over a game is pretty funny, and if you read the thread you would know that i'm just pissed i spent all winter grinding powers i will not be able to use

    get real haha
You deny emotional turmoil then admit to being "pissed." Perhaps you do not know what emotional turmoil means? :)
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

If a game is making you pissed then go outside and clear your head. You being pissed is not going to change anything - especially when many of us see this change as being to our overall benefit and giving us more potential options.

There is pro's and con's in this system. I am still neutral in this because While my gut says "omg no!" my brain is telling me to not judge this before I try it. It's SWG NGE and CU all over again, and as usually, I suppose the borg are right, perhaps we'll have to adapt. The thing that makes me half giggle is the fact that once it's out and in the game, in about a month the complaints will drop to a low. Most players adapt anyways.

Nope, that's nonsense. I am sure you will be able to find some people that don't want to grind the stuff and are glad they don't have to, but I suspect that a lot of people that are worried about balance and power creep have often long finsihed their reputatiions and own a lot of the OP stuff. Just in the PVp community you will probably find a lot that have maxed out everythin there was to max out - Rputation, Fleet stuff, whatever. Their problem isn't the "Horror of the Grind".

Sure, there are also people that don't want to do all that grind either. And they are helped now - and that is of course, by design - if the grind became mandatory (as it feels to many), it means that new PVE content would need to decide whether it's aimed at the grinders, which leaves the non-grinders frustrated because they can't enjoy the new content, or at the non-grinders, which means the grinders are frustrated because new content is too easy and boring.

And the reputation passives are just not everything that reputations grant you. YOu want the set items? You need to max out the reputation. You want the new costume stuff? Max out the reputation. You want particular items from the reputation store? You gotta grind it.

So there is still plenty of reason to max out all the reputations.

And if you need to know - since my return to STO a few weeks ago, I was busy maxing out my reputations on my main char, and I will also need to complete all the reputations on several other characters, since they are all intended to be endgame viable, ideally even competitive for PvP. I'll keep doing it as long as the activity to do so remains enjoyable.

I am one of the people who do not want to grind since Season 8. I also been beaten badly do to over powered players. When that happens I play better instead of running to Cryptic.

As for gear, all the Dyson gear and on are based on Adapted Maco, Remanded, Romulan, Jen Hadar, and Tholian set with. direct energy type buff. We don't have proton weapons fully.

So no need to Rep or grind Season 9 on.

the real stinker for some people is if the 4 space passives or 4 ground passives that X player wants are all in tier 4 they still have to grind it out. We all know how we all like to cookie cutter our builds. :D

It's hardly the SWG NGE and/or CU - they're not changing the rest of the skill system, or any existing weapons or underlying combat mechanics. If you want a more relevant exampls from Cryptic's game design past, think:

City of Heroes - Enhancement Diversification ;)
    ^^^
Google that and you'll see lots of outrage over it from when that happened in CoH. And, while that game is now ended, overall ED wasn't the cause of it's shuttering.

As MMOs age, major changes occur (and stuff gets majorly revamped) to tery and stem 'power creep' it's happened in EQ, EVE, WOW, etc. and in nothing new.

Anger is a strong emotion therefore can count as being in "emotional turmoil" therefor no nitpicking.

On calling Cosmic a troll, well you are obviously using the general forum posters description of "someone who disagrees with me". If there is one person who can not be accused of being a troll it is Cosmic.

On the matter at hand. I like it, choices should be made and it is not like they are making you pay to change. You can change them on the fly when out of combat free unlike the old system when a respec cost.

    dude, seriously, stop

you can voice your opinion, but you're not allowed to tell us to shut up if we don't agree with you. and there are rules about how you can word things, so if you're not careful, you could be banned

that's our point; if you don't care, you could be banned and can never come on here again; THAT is important to us (though becoming less so by the second). Winning arguments is not relevant to that point

you can argue back, but you gotta do so the right way, as we all do. That's what the rules are for

It is a shame to be sure. Even more so when certain players try to voice their concerns or complaints in a perfectly reasonable and mature manner, only to be drowned out by all the fools screaming bloody murder.

And we wonder why no-one pays any attention to the forums at all?

Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Let me put the rumors to rest: it's definitely still the C-Store (Cryptic Store) It just takes ZEN.

Having played around with the new system on tribble, I'm quite content with it. I couldn't feel much of a nerf, since the boost to existing, useful passives, the added flexibility and the ability to take two choices from the same tier of the rep-system outweigh the effect of those passives I chose not to select.

Being able to switch to both Aux Power config passives for free and within a few second when changing ships from a low-aux escort to the Vesta, Dyson destroyer or Krenn for example, is worth more to me than not being able to take some of the more useless talents (depending on the situation of course), like Romulan T4 placate in an STF.

My only issue here is I'll forget to change my specs constantly when switching ships.

All this bickering about the reputation system changes just reminds me that the whole damn thing was a mistake from day one. It was so obvious that, given time, it would have come to this. And with the addition of more reputations in the future, it's just going to get worse as we end up with more reputation traits that we'll probably never use (unless it's situational, which itself will be a hassle trying to swap playing through different content) and Cryptic eventually runs out of ideas.

I'm not really frustrated about the changes as I thought I'd be. Probably because I'm not so focused into my character's builds. And after playing on Tribble, I've not noticed much of a performance drop. Still, I understand why people are upset and I'd probably be too if I were more focused into my ship or character's performance.

Bringing loadouts into the trait system would definitely ease the hassle of swapping traits as the system inevitably becomes bloated with more traits in the future. (That sounded terrible...)
