    Retreat, the Undine are here!

Wait a minute... Why do the Undine need giant tentacle planet killers when they can just do this?

Uh, yeah, that's some really poor blog. Basically an in-game mission description. No mention about the mission progression itself, its rewards, or any of the formalities regarding its release and such.

I like. Blog is meh, but the subject is awesome.

STF looks suitably epic. I am a fan.

Is there an option to let the undine use the planet killer device on Ferenginar?

Edit: Also why are they attacking planets in the alpha and beta quadrant? What was the point of the gateway between the 2 spheres if we cannot bottle neck them there? How did they get past that bottleneck without us knowing about it?

not much actual info in this blog...

I guess I'll step in and fill in the blanks.

This 5-man queued event will have you protecting one of 4 worlds; Ferenginar, Andoria, Cardassia, or Gornar. There are 3 lanes, each with 2 rifts summoning cruisers and battleships. The team must work with the local authorities to close these rifts.

I have defended all except Andoria and can say each world has a special gimmick:

Cardassian Hideki class ships can carry heavy orbital platforms with Spiral-wave lance capabilities.

Gornar has a mass driver that propels asteroids into the field.

Ferengi will accept good pressed latinum to use enhanced defensive systems and summon Marauders and Mercenaries.

The command ship (A Galor, Marauder, Zilliant BC) will approach the rift and scan it, once it's done, the team can take out the rift.

If more rifts are taken out in succession, the team gets bonus points.

Occasionally, errant rifts will appear between the lanes. They can be closed by any ship, but a captain of a certain career profession (Designated by the rift's color) will close the rift with no resistance.

Once all rifts are closed, the team can engage and destroy the planet killer and it's defenders.

Players will be rewarded with Undine marks or fleet marks based on the final score.

It sounded great, until the blog mentioned "other players". What a let-down.

What we need is more PVE action like we can find in the Tau Dewa sector. Star Trek Online is NOT a multiplayer game. I avoid all missions that force me to play with other people.

What is this "communicate" thing the blog discusses?
    Sounds socialist.
Should I start posting again after all this time?

I'm guessing the mission has a timer on it of some description that prevents players from completing the objectives too fast? Like nearly every new PvE mission Cryptic releases lately?

Got one run for this today even with the queues on tribble.

First thing which comes to mind is: 4 million hull strength for the final boss and a mere 22 marks?
    This was at normal setting...
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

Actually it does not. Take as much time as you need to complete the mission, but you get bonus points if you close rifts within 90 seconds of each other.

Thats the point - most players will probably want to finish it as quickly as possible (moar mark grindan!), but lately Cryptic has been creating missions that force "waiting" of some kind - mostly involving a timer and some guarding duty.

Also, on a side note, wasn't the Planet Killer a Babylon 5 thing?

Oh and trendy if you are worried about eating the Telarites, don't worry. Current laws only talk about cannibalism. Other sentient beings are not on that list so it should be fine.

To clarify, all 6 rifts are already open. Once the 6th rift is closed, you may attack the Planet Killer right away, you won't need to wait for the objective to change. The command ships are fairly strong and respawn a short while after they are destroyed. It's up to the team to keep the command ship in one piece, hence the talk about team communication.

unidine actually attacking out in the open is certainly a change of tactics from internal manipulation without fireing a shot

Cryptic and MMO logic. We need a big terrible thing to shoot at. Standard requirement for all seasonal releases.

Once the Rifts have been closed captains will have chance to take out the Planet Killer.
    What a darn waste.

    Mirror event anyone?

Sounds like Cryptic is just copying, pasting, and cannibalizing fleet missions.

Sooo.... It's the Mirror Invasion recycled, NOW! with sea stars?

    That's what it sounds like.

I guess the new Mirror Invasion was the beta to test all the mechanics for this mission.

    Awesome!

    Andor?

This Andor? Or is it meant to be Andoria?
You're just a machine. And machines can be broken.
