Hi Captains. We've increased our ETA. New ETA is 60 minutes from now. This will help ensure we can resolve the network issue. Thank you.
Cheers,
Brandon =/\=
its been just over an hour and the server is still down. seriously, almost every time cryptic does a big update, they mess something up and the server ends up being down for most of the day. i think its time they invested in better coders and script writers or better yet... have a seperate server that runs just like the holodeck and TEST THE UPDATE MORE before adding to the holodeck server!!!
wait, everytime they even add new stuff at all, they break something else and have to fix that. they fix 1 thing and end up breaking 10 different things
sad but true
im not changing my post but am editing. just remember that im an hour ahead of the server. haha so its only been 30 minutes... hahaha duh me!!!
Still, I got to play all of 5 minutes today, since the first major outage. And that was about 6 hours ago. Fixing it, and then needing another several hours to fix the fix, it all feels very sloppy and unprofessional.
And no, silly 'I-am-entitled-because-I-pay-X' posts have no place here, really. But I *do* share in the frustration of constantly telling Cryptic they need to wait, and test out their stuff properly first, and not be so eager to listen to their marketing department, wanting to push out stuff regardless. Always gives me an "I told you so!" feeling (or, as Sheldon would say, "I informed you thusly!").
So, next time, can you guys *please* test out your stuff first?!

This is the replacement for the hourly events. It's event weekend! A preview into the future of STO. Exactly on the day of the Anniversary, c'mon. This is PERFECT.

As a 3year + lifer + everything bought, you dont hear me say it either.
I agree with you on that one still lousy business over there at Cr$$$$$ptic
and i was thinking how cool would it be if there was an entire Q feature episode that would be awsome dont ya think. oh and by Q i dont mean the Q in sto we see for events i mean the genuine article. John D'lancie

Actually no it hasn't. He posted at 3:24pm PST that it'd be 60 minutes. So they still have around 20 minutes
And once again, it doesn't matter how much testing is done. Nothing can predict server loads when thousands hit at the same time.

I bet Cryptic Studios is at the top 3 for most fails around patches/big updates.
I seriously hope there isnt going to be the common Database lag on the server side for 3 months to come (Moving stuff out of inventory etc takes 10/20 seconds) like it used to do after every big patch. Last time was LoR. Database speed was miserably back then for months after.

Now this I can get behind, granted you're always gonna get issues slip through and whatnot, but that's life. Honestly I think I can say that if it results in less downtime at 'official launch' of new content I'm more than willing to wait an extra week or something like that before the next batch of new content goes live.

what u guys think.
there is already a Q episode in game, not sure why you need another, besides you see q about quarter of the year anyways.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.

That is a common sense, well thought out approach to this issue....
Captain's log, stardate 91686.44. Ship has been disabled now two hours, after only a short moment of mobility. Engineers are working like hamsters to get the systems back online, with little success.
It's a good thing the enemy is as crippled as we are.
People need to stop crying about it. Content updates do this. You all know this. Be patient. It will be up by tomorrow probably, then all will be well. And I don't see any need for cryptic to compensate us. I'm a lifer, and I demand nothing. When I want it, I buy it. Cryptic will not give anyone something to give you and unfair advantage over others. Grind it out like everyone else.
True, true, but suppose the brand of car, which you are driving, has the same issues after each major overhaul, update, like a failing engine or brakes, would you still scream the same ?
Cut the TRIBBLE like : "It's just a game". From the moment people are paying for something, it becomes a product or a service run by, if we may be hopeful, people that know their business by inside out. That we can rely upon them that they know what they do. That they learn from their mistakes and evolve. Clearly, after yet another server downtime due to a major update, it's clearly that mentioned qualities aren't in house and that, everyone that is still enjoying the game, should be compensated. That doesn't mean by refunds, but by an extend of period for free ships, an extra amount of qmendations or some other inworld action to ease the troubles caused by this incident.
OK, if I have to stay here for a while, your cieling ... looks idious.:D
Reminds me of a character named Hashi Lebwohl from Stephen Donaldson's Gap Cycle - he used a ship named "Free Lunch" for a covert operation and then claimed such a thing as a free lunch didn't exist
Love it. I'd forgotten ol' Hashi.
But I do have a very ill-tempered Fed Eng named Angus Thermopyle.

It is through repetition that we learn our weakness.
