So do we have to shell out 5k Zen per faction for a grand total of 15k Zen or is it 5k Zen total for all the factions???
That needs claring up, seeing as 15k Zen is very expensive indeed...
For one bundle of three, we should assume it'll be a 5000 Zen affair. And then there's three bundles of three, one per faction. So to get all nine ships - three per faction - at it's cheapest it's 15,000 Zen (assuming you buy the three bundles, and not all nine ships individually).
At this point, I think it's time someone said that the grind should be thrown out in light of a group of C-Store versions that are on their way in. Just go into the patch, change the number of Qmendations given from the new FE from "400" to "1000" and please everyone.
You're just a machine. And machines can be broken.
Ah ok cool, if that's the only limited time reward then I can just focus on getting that and then worry about doing the replays later haha.
Actually rereading it makes it sound like the secondary deflector from the FE ships might be unique also and creates a 4 set bonus with the c-store (3)consoles.
hmm yeah, confusing...
On the one hand, Between the the stars (that single FE) will probably be another experience to be believed (just as the FE with Worf) The ships have a rather spectacular thing about them as well.
On the other hand; why the grind? I suppose I have a hard time combining this grind with the idea behind an anniversary.
Wow, whine whine whine. That's all I'm seeing here.
*sighs*
Okay, there is another way you can get this ship if you want to skip the grind - the Qmendation pack you can buy from Q for 5 Lobi. For 20 Lobi, you have the chance to shave off, at most, 2 days of grind. 300 Lobi (which is the cost of a Lobi BOFF), you can actually skip the entire grind and get the ship after you run the FE. If you have leftover, you can save it for next year.
Oh, wait, you're not going to do that because "WEH NEXT YEAR IS A GRIND TOO. I DON'T LIKE WORK. IT'S TOO HARD."
Me? I'm going to enjoy the hell out of this. Especially if the weather keeps up and wants to keep me buried in snow.

That's messed up, and Cryptic is taking this thing way too far....
I understand that they are a company and need to make money, and i understand that a lot of the decisions are possibly being made for them by PWE (the grind, no fixes, cheapness) but still, their current model of business is completely against the IP and honestly seems like it's now against the fans and players as well...
Indeed. I, for one, am shocked (SHOCKED!) that Cryptic Studios, which is a business, and which therefore exists for the sole purpose of making money, is trying to make money. How dare they?
I think everyone understands that and are willing to accept a certain level of grind as part of how it all works. Its the extra extra mile on this one thats getting everyone riled up.
Scenario 1
Cryptic: "Okay this year the anniversary ship has a grind attached, but its a cool ship that incorporates a bunch of new features!"
Me: "Well, I hate grind, but the new features look intriguing so.... *sigh* guess we're going grinding."
Scenario 2
Cryptic: "Okay this year the anniversary ship has a grind attached (because its has cool new stuff), but like the Odyssey and the Bortasqu, we will be releasing a C-store 3-pack in the near future.
Me: "Well, I hate grind, but I love my Odyssey, and the new ships look intriguing. There goes $50, but at least it means I get to skip the grind and its account-wide."
Scenario 3
Cryptic: "Okay this year the anniversary ship has a grind attached, and we're releasing a 3-pack in the near future, and you have to do both if you want the truly-complete set."
Me: ".....You don't think much of me do you?"
If they did scenario 1 or 2, there would be a lot less frustration. Its the combo thats set off this particular firestorm, not profit motive.
As entirely odd as this may sound, if Cryptic would simply get rid of the Qmendation grind, I would actually consider purchasing (with actual money) a C-Store bundle for my main, and perhaps the other two over the course of the year.
The grind PLUS C-store is too much. I am disappointed that this wasn't done like the Odyssey, Ambassador, and Obelisk carrier. I still may grind for one character as I did the winter event, but in the winter event all that grinding netted me a fleet quality ship. Oh well...
The Odyssey, Bortas'qu and Scimitar packs cost 15k Zen all together. I'm having trouble seeing how this is different.
Seriously?
Because the prototypes for those ships were obtained from the anniversary before last by running a 10-15 minute mission.
Cryptic got to monetarise their work with the c-store packs.
So, now, instead of a 15 minute mission, played whenever we like during the event, we get to play a 15 minute mission, plus fifteen times at least five minutes chasing miniQ's, with each attempt being at least 20 hours apart.
So, anyone who cant make 15 of the days during the event is SoL.
Except they can pay, apparently, rather defeating the whole idea of a free ship.....if that idea wasn't already bleeding out due to a gunshot wound to the stomach called fifteen days grind.
As entirely odd as this may sound, if Cryptic would simply get rid of the Qmendation grind, I would actually consider purchasing (with actual money) a C-Store bundle for my main, and perhaps the other two over the course of the year.
That's all it would take. Get rid of that grind.
To be honest? Same here. It would at least let me see how interesting I find the gimmick or if I'f prefer to stay with the ship I have. As it is, I'm not likely to do the grind (unless the set bonus is one that completely unbalances the game in the favour of those who have it) and I'd not likely to drop $50 on something I'd not sure I'll like.

I'm afraid I agree. Though after this, Cryptic will be very lucky to see another penny of my money.

Still doesn't change the fact that you will need to drop 50 bucks on a three pack in order to get the last piece for the bonus. Glad you have unlimited money and time.

Or how about this:
Scenario 4
Cryptic: "Okay this year the anniversary ship has a grind attached, and we're releasing a 3-pack in the near future, and you have to do both if you want the truly-complete set."
Me: "Well, I hate grind, and I also don't want to spend money, so I guess I won't do either. After all, I don't really need this ship. It's a game. There are far better uses of my time and money."
'm really not liking the fact that we have to not only grind this out on every character, but we also have to pay the $50 PER FACTION for these things. This is ridiculous that somebody actually thought this was okay, and more so that others agreed with them enough to make it a real thing.
So not only do we have to Grind every character for 15 days, but we also have to pay $150 to get the full versions of what we are being told is our free anniversary ship.

At what point do we start throwing chairs?
You don't have to do it at all. If you want to get the stuff, then you can do that, it's not required, it's not a mandatory thing.

Or even, Scenario 5.
Cryptic:"Okay, this year, you get a free ship. No strings attached. We'll probably do C-Store versions later, too, but y'know, we do need to make money somewhere. Happy 4th Anniversary!" The Community:"Nice, thanks Cryptic! With giveaways like this, i'll be sure to support this game for a time, and maybe even drop some cash at some point."
Honestly, I don't see what was so bad about that one.
You're just a machine. And machines can be broken.
Indeed, and I pointed out to you how, as part of the anniversary event which this thread is about, are very different.
Yes, the events are different. But I wasn't talking about the events.
You know what, forget it. I can understand why folks are angry, and I was never trying to talk anyone out of their anger; I was just trying to understand some of the more bizarre rationalizations people were bringing up. Which was probably a waste of time. So, yes, grr, Cryptic bad! Stephen D'Angelo is the devil! Clearly this is one of the most egregious human rights violations in history! etc., etc.
So let me get this straight, you want us to grind moronically for a subpar free version, which is inferior and has an item on it we will need, and then drop $150 next month for the proper versions in the cstore???
Wow, lol. This Anniversary just gets worse and worse don't it...
Please tell me there will be a bundle that gives one of each faction ship, or for them to come in singular ships like other bundles?
Ok, I will skip this whole thing and will be buying the Z-Store ships later.
I have lost track on this whole thing. I have no idea anymore what to do, how often to do, what to get, what do to to get the next thing, do this, do that, fly there, do this three times, Set here, Set there, do this, buy that, then I can change those into this...
Sorry, but there are also some guys in the game who are not so passionate players and play only a few times a week. Me for example, I do Doff missions to level up, do some tailoring and equipping and thats is. I have played only few story missions for my characters.
Personally, I would be thankful to get some of those grinding items now and later to come, to be available in the Lobi Store after an amount of time.

However the cash part.. Does not seem like any kind of thank you, just thanks for your money
So its a hit and a miss...
Bravo on the large rewards but boo on the cash grab...
But the post I was actually replying to was complaining that we had to buy all the three-packs separately. That was the point I was addressing.
I'm afraid I agree. Though after this, Cryptic will be very lucky to see another penny of my money.

Indeed, and I pointed out to you how, as part of the anniversary event which this thread is about, are very different.
And thats the point.
Cryptic have decided to trial out a new revenue stream for themselves.
Actually, so far, so good.
However the decision to do it to the anniversary event is appalling and, quite frankly, a betrayal of the playerbase.
As others have pointed out, the anniversary event has, or should have, meaning.
What Cryptic have done with these ill favoured grinds is betray that meaning.
Shame on them.
Or how about this:
