The ships look great with that Dyson sphere design style.
Rather makes me wish Dyson sphere aliens were introduced as a whole new faction. If only because their ships look decent and I'd like the next faction to be an original alien race.
15 days, 25 days, what does it matter? The point I am trying to make (apparently, not very well) is that if we're expected to sign in and play these missions daily, for 15 days straight, why should we then be expected to pay toward a fleet variant?
Seems a bit much. There is a whole thread with 60+ pages in the General Discussion, most of the posters there aren't exactly thrilled with this latest revelation. If Cryptic want people to play their game, fine. Have us play to earn. If Cryptic want money out of us then again, fine, throw the ships into the C-Store/Lock Box/T5 Fleets.
They shouldn't demand both from us though, not for the same friggin' ship.
Edit: I could be wrong about all this, but lately most of my fears have turned out true.
If you do not want to bother with doing what is required to get the ship, then don't get the ship. You are not being forced to get the ship at all.
I'm sorry but I think these Dyson ships are ugly and I personally am disappointed that Cryptic is moving away from traditional Star Trek and making the Federation look more alien than it was canonically shown. We seen future ships like the Enterprise-J and the Relativity and they are nowhere near as alien as these Dyson ships. Besides, how could they create new ships within days of setting foot in the Dyson sphere?
I really hope we get choose to have a standard Federation/Klingon/Romulan hull with no fancy Dysonification.
They're a mix of standard ship design of the three factions and Dyson Tech, then again, to each their own. I think the ships looks purely awesome.

I'm aware of that, thanks. Feedback has never hurt anyone though, and if people don't leave negative feedback from time to time, other people will produce things that they think everyone else is always happy with.
With this release, I like the idea, I like the ships (I think, I need more views to make a firm analysis), I just don't like the way in which we're being asked to obtain them. That's all.
This ship by default has a Commander Science seat and a Lt. Commander Tactical seat among its bridge officer stations. However, when the ship enters Tactical Mode, the two seats effectively switch. The Commander Science seat is downgraded to Lt. Commander Science, and the Lt. Commander Tactical is upgraded to Commander Tactical.
How will this work in terms of the skill tray? Especially for people who don't have the Bridge Crew Tray enabled and are only using the Big Personal Tray?
I mean, will the inactive Cmdr. ability be disabled, yet visible on the tray, or are we going to have to drag it back to the tray every time we change ship modes? Because as cool as this mechanic sounds I'm kind of concerned, considering all the UI issues in the game...
The nerd in me finds the whole thing very informative. 6-month plus lead time? And the texture mapping thing, wow that must be the most TEDIOUS part of it all. "Okay here's the base skin, now here's if they put MACO on it, here's KHG, here's with the Borg shield..." redoing the same thing over and over, I think I'd pull my hair out. The under-the-hood stuff is always interesting though.
And then I simply have to add, all the other little mentions in the article, you guys are just teases aren't you? Intriguing though.
Wow... one hell of a blog post! Definitely one of the most detailed and informative blogs ever done.
So many times people assume that it should be easy to do one thing or another and this shows the amount of collaboration and effort required that goes into each and every little detail.
Excellent Work!

Because of dual deflectors you might be able to put 3 pieces of the dyson, and 2 pieces of say the borg set on it
holy ubertank
Except they mentioned it as a Dyson Secondary Deflector, which sounds more like its a new type of equipment. Otherwise we'd be going Borg engine/deflector, then KHG shield/deflector, and get kinda disgusting.

You made my day I really am glad you agree that the blog was pretty epic and informative, as that was exactly what we were working towards. This blog goes up there as one of my most favorite things I've ever "produced" (Producer over) while working here.
It's easy to assume things happen in a matter of days, when in reality, it takes much, much longer. I'm stoked that we had the opportunity to share some behind the scenes information with you all.
You know what they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The ships look awesome to me, and clearly they don't look awesome to you or some other people. It's the way of the world.

I definitely plan to go after the Klingon Dyson ship.

A science DESTROYER? Am I understanding this correctly?
Edit - WAIT ! 9 consoles ? with 3 tactical ?
Does this mean that after I grind 15 for it. I'll have to buy the 10 console version like the Odyssey ?
This cost a little excitement.
I look forward to more info.

Did you design these ships? If so, will you marry me?

Either way, I know what's getting the Dyson Sphere Space Set when I get it!

The ones from the Dyson reputation.
so basically ... you couldn't go fleet weapons to get it all in sync ... You'd have to go with all proton then.
Can you swap out the proton cannon and put something else in that slot?
