i been pushin this guide on folks for 2 years.. great starting point for anyone
who has just hit 50 and looking for a simple way to setup and start rep farm
Hi there, i was awol for a year, and ofcourse when you come back its the one guide you start looking at :-)
I was under the impression that the spacebar txt would activate all abilities on the bar 7 at once, but i have to tap the spacebar for each individual spot to get activated?
Im a wrong or is something else wrong?
thx for the guide and any help on this subject is appriciated!

You have to tap spacebar multiple times to activate all abilities. This is the correct behaviour. It would be nice if one could activate everything with just one click, but due to STO's queueing system for abilities, this is currently not possible.

I am not sure what I am doing wrong. The spacebar.txt thing seems to work fine for my two main characters, but doesn't seem to work at all for any of my others. can anyone help me?
Did you re-install the game (e.g. move to ARC or Steam)? In that case you might have placed the files in the old game directory instead of the current one.

Pick a character that the spacebar.txt is working on.
/bind_save_file "spacebar.txt"
Switch to one it isn't working on.
/bind_load_file "spacebar.txt"
Basically, use the working character to save their keybind wherever STO wants to send it. By doing this, you can then load that same keybind from wherever STO sent it onto your other characters. That's my suggestion, anyway.
With each passing day I wonder if I stepped into an alternate reality. The Cubs win the world series. Donald Trump is President. Britain leaves the EU. STO gets a dedicated PvP season. Engineers are "out of control" in STO.
I'm afraid that this will have to wait, if it happens at all.
I'm only lvl 52 so far, and since there are no free lvl 60 ships and the THG is about free (or really cheap) ships and easily acquired gear, the possible changes would probably be restricted to updated trait/rep/specialisation recommendations and maybe some new mission reward items.
Maybe I will get into the mood for playing STO again, but for the time being I log in, start my crafting dailies and log out. Nothing about DR excites me, and going by the lack of activity on the THG leaderboard, it appears that I'm not the only one who is unhappy with the latest developments.
I even started looking into the possibility of emulating the core ideas of STO's space combat mechanics outside of STO (video), because I have very little hope that STO's PVP will ever regain its former glory.

That's a promising video, if you ever get serious about it and you'd like an artist just send me a mail @shimmerless muffin.

I got to fifty-one last week!
If you do decide to pursue that project just know you will be a hero among nerds.
Vorandrin, I'm not sure what all you have tried, but make sure your spacebar isn't set to another key already in-game on those characters. Just open your options and check your keybinds there. Afterward, /unbind the key, then rebind it. And of course, double check to make sure it is in fact using tray 7 (or whatever tray you specify), and hasn't re-written itself into a different tray.
Word of advice on the spacebar bind: don't bind EVERYTHING to it. It will overload it, and cause your powers to skip and get out-of-sync. Be mindfully selective about what you use and how you use it. It can help a little, just remember that once you're comfortable flying your ship and are more familiar about how the powers work, it becomes more beneficial to control each power separately, and use it only when needed.
I hope you enjoy STO, and if you're pvping, I hope to meet you in battle soon! To the death!:D

Hilbert you sir are a legend id glady pay for this if you ever make it work. What all do you need to make this happen? Id assume alot of pvp guys here would gladly help if possible

If 1 man can do all that in a reasonable amount of time...
IM DOWNLOADING UNITY NOW.
You have no idea how long I've been trying to get something like this to work with C++.

That looks quite good actually, if I could do that I would be pleased with it.

I had a feeling you were on "hiatus" from the game too , like many friends of mine, since I've sent you an email in-game few days ago and I've received no answer yet.
However, although you might remember me from the first vanilla pvp match, I am starting to try real pvp and they've told me about your arenas parser and that I should ask you for the plugin or something like that...
My handle in game is @spaceeagle20
Hope to get your email and cheer up.
Hmm, I distinctly recall RyanSTO saying, on multiple occassions, not to use the Hilbert guide. He makes a compelling case.
Hmm, I distinctly recall PvPers saying, on multiple occasions, that PvErs are idiots. You make a compelling case.
I need to get to him. I can't just leave him out there alone. - Sometimes you've got to makes sacrifices, Lara. You can't save everyone. - I know about sacrifices. - No, you know about loss. Sacrifice is a choice you make. Loss is a choice made for you. - I can't choose to let him die, Roth.

I distinctly recall myself saying that people who quit this game months ago and keep coming back here to QQ are idiots. You are a classic case of this :P
Also isn't today this forums death date? Might as well go out in a blaze of glory!
Especially the part at time index 55:15 will be of interest of you.
Dunno, is RyanSTO your god? Do you pray to RyanSTO every morning after you wake up? Do you have a little shrine with pictures of RyanSTO? Dude, he's an expert of many parts of the game, he's a good guy and a friend - but not an authority on PvP, on that side, me and Ric are more expert than him...
So, I'd not trust everything ryansto says, at least not on PvP. When i need to improve my DPS, I'll ask him for any advice, damn I need to improve my 39k.
Also, THG was made ages ago, and the infos in it may not be 100% perfect - but it's a good start.

I trust RyanSTO, in that he obviously knows what he's talking about, and has the DPS to back up his claims. The reasons mentioned by him, for not using the Hilbert Guide are pretty darn solid. And I have yet to see anyone refute anything he says about how keypresses/lockouts, etc. work.
It's not personal for me (and I don't think it's for Ryan either). I've gratefully used the Hilbert Guide myself, at one time, and it was an eye-opener for me. After that, though, people like RyanSTO came, showing a true understanding of the minutia of keybinding and global lockouts, and why Hilbert-style 'spacebar smashing' kills your DPS.
Maybe non of this matters in a PvP 'vaper' world; but yes, I was surprised to see the Hilbert Guide recommended in a PvP forum, of all places.

Any other good recommended Rep stuff? I have found the Gravimetric Photon Torpedo Launcher useful for it's Gravity Well generation for example.

You might want to try Unreal Development too
Also check out Digital Tutors - they pretty rock solid in learning.
To be fair, the guide was made before the patch that allowed that was implemented.
