Let us have options. Choices are good. (And homophobic shrieking nitwits are bad, but I have a place for them; it's called my ignore list. You don't want to be in my ignore list. It's dark in there, and full of Gorn jokes.)
For whatever it's worth - not much, I suspect - I fully support the inclusion of this canonical costume in the game. And other canonical costumes... especially on the KDF side, which is comparatively deprived when it comes to those choices. (Why not, for example, a TOS-era female outfit for Klingons? Or even a proper version of the TOS one for males - you know, with all the spangly bits added on? Klingons look nice in sparkly Lurex...)
And - as an Andorian in-game - I would so like an Imperial Guard uniform....
(Yes, I know, the devs have more important things to do with their time. I can dream, can't I?)

what about the Gorn Mini-dress, or just unlocking all the species exclusive KFD options for everyone KFD (except for fem-orion outfits for aliens, q brings enough alien dancing girls with him)
I think that we need to get past this fearmongering nonsense and everyone just be respectful to others regardless of what orientation they think they have. Besides if it wasn't for kirk kissing uhura in that infamous episode that the southern states still loath, this country wouldn't have progressed. Many events including star trek helped play a role in social progression to get to where we are now as a nation. Besides, star trek online needs to push the social envelope by having male toons in miniskirts er kilts as part of the uniform. That is what I think, however wrong I might be.
Men should be allowed to wear women's clothing, and vice versa. I like to imagine in the 25th century fashion is cross gender, and it will be tolerated for either gender to wear whatever the heck they want.
We actually had that in the 70s. Maybe it's a bit sad that people now think it would be a futuristic innovation.
If anything, unisex clothing ironically actually enhances the differences between the sexes by making people focus more on the bodies than on the clothes.
In this case, prevent lawsuits. Sexual harassment is kinda a big problem in the gaming industry at the moment. In addition, it does drive away players of both genders and of varying sexual orientation. Its not a case of kowtowing, its a case of this is a dangerous fine line that we have to be careful of not crossing. Personally, I would be ok if they split the difference and released Scotty's custom formal uniform with its Kilt.
???
Are you saying they should get rid of the Seven catsuit, the breast size slider, the Troi outfit, the Orion slavegirl outfit, the Foundry Risian Trill, the feminine stance, the female-only seductive dance move, and so on?

I do wish they had male versions of these costumes and female versions of the MU first officer uniform, etc.
Note: in early beta, men could use the seductive stance. It does look a bit flamboyant to my eye but I generally did like some aspects of the pre-launch tailor, which included voice options for Captains and BOs (mainly grunts and announcing powers) and no gender restrictions on stances.
It also seems to me like if you go back then, they'd have guessed ship sales might be a possibility but weren't certain it would be the game's main cash cow and had more riding on the idea of species unlocks and probably some things like stance and emote packs.

As a heterosexual male, I must say that all of these things are good, and also Trek canon in most cases.
However, I also want them for men. Male Orion barely-there Speedos, "Masculine" stance that emphasizes the pecs (for female player eye candy), male seductive stance and seductive dance move, et cetera.
Also, a refined low end for the bust slider. And a muscle definition slider, so that female players can have equal-opportunity eye candy (and so my Federation.
And, in the interests of common sense, limit the bust size allowed for the Seven outfit. Because no real woman could dress herself in that with triple-Ds.
How the bloody hell is a uniform dress for men an issue of sexuality!?
Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though. JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

Sexuality? No I could joke around and put on a dress and still be a straight male. But in my household men did not wear dresses. In most house holds men were taught not to wear dresses. This day where the media tries to make people think its ok and in fact quite normal for men to wear women clothes.. Still does not change that the vast majority of American men don't do it. Vast majority also are not TRIBBLE and vast majority of parents while supportive of there kids choices would rather see them straight, getting married and making babies like they and the majority of people do.
This why cryptic will unlikey make this outfit for us. They spend time and money making things that make the "majority" happy.
Probably because of Moral Guardians, worries about increased sexual harassment in game, and probably also because, frankly, it looks extremely unprofessional and undignified. For EITHER gender. There is a reason skirts are falling out of favor in real life for professional women.
Personally, I am opposed to the Skant coming in game, not because of canon reasons. But because unlike the 24th century, this game is being played by gamers in the 21st Century. The same people who call each other homophobic names over xbox live. I already have a male friend who plays female toons being sexually harassed in game on a daily basis. If males start walking around in skants, there's gonna be death threats towards some of them. That's not good for the players or the game.

There are ways of dealing with those kind of people. Besides with Orion women or females with the breast slider set to max and other revealing clothing gets harassed. They know how to deal with it. Report them and ignore them.
Well, thank sweeden and their pro feminism agenda at breaking gender barriers (Time magazine, December 16, page40 "Blurred Lines"). Men wearing dress mini skirts that a woman would normally wear. No thanks, I'll stick to wearing panse. Lol.
Feminism is about equality. Women and Men are equals. But the world doesn't look like that in politics, religion and corporations. That means feminism is a good thing. It is about raising awareness and foster a climate to evolve humanity. Everyone, no matter their gender, skin color, orientation should be treated equal. Besides, blaming Sweden for that when we have men wearing kilts is a much larger phenomenon is ridiculous. Not that I mind men in kilts, they may wear what ever they like, especially if they are gingers.
I seriously would like to see skants added as a unisex option for no other reason than with the modular upper/lower design of Fed costumes this would add a short sleeve version of the tunic. Canon, and a welcome variant!
But then poking at preconceived gender attire issues is never a bad thing either.

Skant Day at Cryptic Studios. Make it so. And we want pictures.
I believe that may violate the rules of the Geneva Convention. :P

I mean seriously: There she is (trying) to rock it.
IMO, she just couldn't pull off any look except normal Starfleet uniform, but that's me.
So... Casual skant fridays at the office, huh?
There is a pic of Tacofangs dressed as Slave Leia circulating the internet...

Darn. I wish I could give Fabulous Khev (that's what I call him now) this stance so bad.
At least they still let me assign him "Creature".
what about a crew of oversized Gorn Boffs with it
