A resounding 'Yes' from me to the skant, and/or a kilt.
TOIVA, Toi Vaxx, Toia Vix, Toveg, T'vritha, To Vrax: Bring in the Allegiance class.
Toi'Va, Ti'vath, Toivia, Ty'Vris, Tia Vex, Toi'Virth: Add Tier 6 KDF Carrier and Raider.
    Tae'Va, T'Vaya, To'Var, Tevra, T'Vira, To'Vrak: Give us Asylums for Romulans.

Don't make ARC mandatory! Keep it optional only!

I say yes to all additional ideas in this thread, but mostly so about the skant that I've wished for so many times since I started playing the game back when it was closed beta. Every update the following year I though, this is the one. And when they made the TNG pack I was sure it would come with the skants and the dress uniforms. But no.

As for the KDF side, we need the skirts seen worn by the Duras sisters. We need their type of clothes all together with cleavage. That is how they dress. As well as having all the shoes available for men available for female KDF.

Taco, it is time to stop talking about it in the office and actually make it for the game.

When you do make sure to include body hair for men. Remember Riker? Very hairy. So everyone isn't smooth in the future.

On the other hand I haven't seen one male Starfleet Officer sporting long hair in uniform in any series or movie. If anyone have please let me know where I can see it.

Aside from Worf I think this native American in the middle is one of the few

though the blond guy with the moustache in the brown uniform on the left behind the bald one looks like he might actually be wearing a ponytail.

I think Efrosians usually sported long hair, but I only recall seeing one in a Starfleet uniform and that was a *long* time ago.

    yes, yes he does

hair styles probably have a cultural tilt reflecting different species' attitudes e.g. human uniformed services often have mandated hairstyles with allowances for cultural requirements, resulting in hair that would look normal in civi's looking scruffy and unprofessional in uniform

or Starfleet has hairstyle restricitons for humans but not for aliens left as a holdover from Earth Starfleet when practically all Aliens serving on Starfleet ships were exchange officers or civilian contractors

Well, from that picture it looks like Starfleet's hairstyle regulations basically amount to "if it's long, keep it tied back and out of your eyes".

So people are against skorts or skants or whatever they are called (as am I), but we had no problem with clothing that could look like this:

While you're working on that kilt, Cryptic, I'll take Bagpipes that plays Scotland the Brave, Highland Laddie, and Black Bear as you walk around with it equipped, along with a 2409 styled claidheamh m?r (That's claymore for the rest of you) as a new melee weapon.

Well, thank sweeden and their pro feminism agenda at breaking gender barriers (Time magazine, December 16, page40 "Blurred Lines"). Men wearing dress mini skirts that a woman would normally wear. No thanks, I'll stick to wearing panse. Lol.

as far as i can tell its mostly 'It looks stupid' or 'men in skirts! TRIBBLE warning!'

a more reasonable objection would be 'Feds already have loads of uniforms, Plz more KDF things'

Probably because of Moral Guardians, worries about increased sexual harassment in game, and probably also because, frankly, it looks extremely unprofessional and undignified. For EITHER gender. There is a reason skirts are falling out of favor in real life for professional women.

Personally, I am opposed to the Skant coming in game, not because of canon reasons. But because unlike the 24th century, this game is being played by gamers in the 21st Century. The same people who call each other homophobic names over xbox live. I already have a male friend who plays female toons being sexually harassed in game on a daily basis. If males start walking around in skants, there's gonna be death threats towards some of them. That's not good for the players or the game.

what good does kowtowing in fear to the vocal/idiotic minority do?

Morality and whether it looks professional/dignified is a matter of opinion and a wholly moot point in this game :p, Ive seen federation characters running round in hideous pink pjamas with ghastly combinations of colours, but hey, the starfleet stated in this game allows captains to wear their own uniform. As for skirts i find that skirts can be look completely professional

Thats what the ignore function/report to a gm is for i guess

In this case, prevent lawsuits. Sexual harassment is kinda a big problem in the gaming industry at the moment. In addition, it does drive away players of both genders and of varying sexual orientation. Its not a case of kowtowing, its a case of this is a dangerous fine line that we have to be careful of not crossing. Personally, I would be ok if they split the difference and released Scotty's custom formal uniform with its Kilt.

And what is (are) the reason(s) for it not being in game?

You can find/contact me in game as @PatricianVetinari. Playing STO since Feb 2010.

Men should be allowed to wear women's clothing, and vice versa. I like to imagine in the 25th century fashion is cross gender, and it will be tolerated for either gender to wear whatever the heck they want.

No citations to back my claim (since they weren't documented, only verbal), but I seem to recall the skant being 'considered' for the Season 1 TNG uniform pack, and I think it was brought up a few times prior. But it was always cut from the schedule (as things often are) based on making certain deadlines.

From what I recall there was nothing morally questionable behind the skant being cut from development, just being able to make deadlines on time.

Cryptic is one of the most openly vocal supporters of LGBT culture, anyone in the thread suggesting otherwise (in reference to the skant uniform) is just plain dishonest.

I still refuse to buy the Season 1 TNG uniform pack until they add in that uniform.

Now I don't have that information on hand, and I would like to see it personally just for my own records (more information is always a good thing).

I'm not suggesting Cryptic is being homophobic or anti-LGBT. I'm a member of the "B" in that community myself. I just have always become acustomed to lawyers always saying "No, thats too risky to put out there."

what can they say, 'it is an unacceptable form of dress'
its meant to be 4 centuries up time, fashion will change by that point, 400 years ago men regularly wore high-heels, hose and tops with 'princess sleeves'

How about adding a tutu for our male toon avatars as a starfleet uniform. A tutu is a ballerina outfit that men can wear. :p
Besides, don't be surprised seeing women in the mens section of a clothing store buying panse or shirts for themselves to wear. Seen it happen many times. Something about the womens clothing selection don't fit realisticly. Amber crombie and fitch good example.
A mini skirt can also be a kilt. Just a matter of perception.
Like saying underwear and panties. It is still underwear. Just in the way it is viewed between genders.
Bring on the kilt as a uniform and the one from the tng episode.
