Are we going to skip over this and the past lockbox consoles or do those not count as "history"?
The Devs did right by making new consoles and now I have to ask why do people want to take a step back?
I hear a lot of cracks about how PWE is ran by Ferengi but most of the time when the word "profit" comes up it is coming out of a Fed.
Thank you! Nice to see a person that undesrtands what's going on instead of the constant and endless whining. I agree with you that the devs. did right by starting to release new unique lockbox consoles for everyone, but some people can't seem to get over it.
I told cryptic well in advance that this lock box would not do well unless they added the aceton - judging by the almost complete lack of ship flybys - the low exchange prices for stuff - this lockbox has been a financial failure.
1. Yes, it's a financial failiure because you say so. Tell me, when did they apoint you as Cryptic's accountant?
2. If the lockboxes are low on sale, what could be the reason? Surely not the lame-TRIBBLE ships they started to release, right?
People liked the iconic ships - D'kora, Galor, the Jem'Hadar ones....guess what, seems that people are not excited by lame-TRIBBLE Jem'hadar replicas with different skin no matter how OP they make them. I mean just look at that Palisade....sheesh!
Personally, I'm not interested in lockbox ships unless they're faction specific special editions like the Temporal ships. Cryptic needs to rethink their strategy and start making faction specific special ships, because not much people besides dedicated PvPers seem to be interested in lame flavor of the month ships used by species that was seen in 1 Trek episode. They don't have the power of a Galor or D'kora no matter how OP they release them.
Dont worry it will be made very clear for the next box that they need the aceton to drive sales. Their new console gimmicks are not that popular. Just compare the prices of the leech to all the others.
Cryptic won't make this mistake again - next box they will most likely want to have a big money maker to compensate for this boxes failure. Expect an op ship and the aceton.
Money money money - lots of money - that's what cryptic will get.
The biggest problems I see with cross-faction console 'trades' are this: Most of the time, the trade is inherently unequal, and it's been on the negative side for the KDF a little more than Fed. Now, there HAVE been some relatively reasonable trades in terms of console utility (Theta Radiation in exchange for Photonic Displacement, for example). But it's when they force 'trades' like the Graviton Pulse Generator for the Impulse Capacitance Cell (a console that's offset by just about every movement debuff out there INCLUDING graviton pulse, and I know this from extensive experience in PvP usage) or the Plasmonic Leech for the Ionized Gas Sensor (an obviously unbalanced trade, even with the vaunted 'improvements' suggested in-thread that will never get implemented) that we start to get pissed off.
The second problem with the way they do cross-faction console 'trades' is the fact that the originating faction is forced to continue obtaining access to the console through costly Zen purchases. There is no way for a KDF to obtain a Plasmonic Leech console via EC, for example, we have to shell out 1500 Zen (the equivalent of 15 dollars in real money) to get one. The 'perk' is that it's unlimited access to however many copies we want, which is small consolation for people who only use 1-3 alts. Meanwhile a Fed can easily obtain a Plasmonic Leech for a relatively low amount of EC, a small task for seasoned players.
So in the end, it's the KDF who ultimately loses out, unsurprisingly. The Federation gets access to our best consoles for much cheaper than what we had to pay to unlock 'em, while we have to pay to unlock 'em still. I don't accrue zen very fast and I don't like putting my own limited money into the game, so I STILL don't have a Plasmonic Leech OR an Aceton Assimilator. I have copies of the Photonic Displacer and the Antimatter Spread console, however, because they were a few mil EC each on the Exchange.
Maybe if Cryptic had just simply released the SAME console to lockbox for BOTH factions, it'd be better. But then Cryptic would lose out on ship sales from people buying a ship just to get the console.
I agree with everything you said but that it is relatively cheap to get plasmonic of exchange. It was cheap when they ran the lock boxes and I picked up 4 for a million and change each. Now they are 12 million.

"With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censored, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably."
Seems some of you are a little more worried that it will be in the next box - I thought that you were sure that cryptic had gone down this new path of useless new uni cross faction consoles? Why all of a sudden are you upset that some fed players are asking for it again?
Are you concerned that these prior two lack luster boxes and the console they contain could lead to a shift back to trading tech?
Its still months away - and if the Fed players really want it they should get a poll together to show cryptic that it would be financially worth it for them to do it.
That is the nature of the business after all.
Personally I left the last thread I made in the general section way back and won't restard the conversation - but if others really feel that passionate about getting it then let cryptic know.
Really it would be more useful now in pve content then ever before - now that the both and those little swarmers are around. I have put it into great effect in the 'storming the spire - elite' dropping them at the front where the allied shuttles come in and at the back when the escape shuttles are leaving. Of course that is from either a fleet Brel or a fleet t'varo Toro boat which does not pack a lot of puch all at once and needs the extra support.
I don't know why people think aceton assimilator is this great console. It used to be great. Then a thing happened. I will sum you up that thing in three words - Kinetic Cutting Beam.

We can heal Acetons assimilators with hazard emitters, Aux 2 SIF, Engie team. By the time you destroy it another will be deployed. Best console ever...
Aceton Assimilator:
Counters fighter pet spam.
Finds cloaked ships with siphon trail (you still have to detect them to fire).
Counters Heavy torpedoes and mine spam.
Attracts NPC's fire.
Helps drains builds (-39.4 with 327 flow cap skill).
Great damage with high particle skill.
Hurts beam fire at will users.
Great on shuttle missions.
Perfect for science captains.
Kills boarding party shuttles.
Somewhat immune to energy weapons.
You can heal it.
ETC ETC ETC!
The dress is gold and white. Over 70% people says so. When viewed from a certain screen angle it appears blue and black. The dress displayed on amazon is a blue and black dress, but it's not the same dress in the picture. If you're seeing blue & black you're slightly colored blind. A normal upright screen = white and gold.

LOL!
Btw, personal opinion : best console ever was/is the leech.
I'm really sick of people trying to further shaft the already dwindling KDF population with threads like this. I'm quite happy with the last 2 lockbox consoles that had new original consoles rather then stealing a console KDF pays ZEN for, that's why I bought keys and opened a lot of those boxes to support non-cross faction consoles in lockboxes.
Having a console that costs us 1500 zen for being made available to the Feds and to have them be able to get it without zen on the exchange would be unacceptable. It isn't fair to people that bought it, and it isn't fair to people that stuck with the KDF for so long no matter how much it gets neglected. Cross faction consoles is just one less reason for people to try other factions, long term it is bad for STO and any MMO that gives cross faction items.
As an STO player (not a fed, not a kdf, not a Romulan, but rather a normal person playing STO), I am going to just reply with:-
Feds have the wide angle torp. This is a GOOD torp, it lets you fire torps from a beam boat whilst broad siding.
Romulans have the Valdore console. This is a GOOD console, lots of lovely healing every time you do damage.
KDF have the Aceton assimilator. Apparently it's good too.
So, each "faction" has a toy the other factions would love to have. Leaves you a choice really. Share them all, or make the most out of having exclusive access to the nice toy on a single faction.
Me, I don't PvP, I don't want the Aceton on fed characters overly. I would however love the Valdor console on non Romulan characters, and the wide angled torp on my Romulans and KDF characters. I certainly don't NEED them though, and I'm not about to create posts demanding them. lol
Spend more time enjoying what you do have, less posting that you want what you don't is what I say.
Cheers
This sums it up for me. Each faction has its unique console and should keep them unique.

I don't agree - this one console will not make or break the kdf. The main reason the kdf pop is dropping is lack of New ships for almost 2 years - that and only 2 costumes. A few new levels and a new tutorial were nothing to get people interested - and the same with this console. Only with several brand new c-store ships release along with a new costume set will the kdf have any hope. Then they need to open up several events like colony invasion to cross-faction q's - many don't do kdf regularly because of the long wait times.
This console has very little impact on the kdf - they need to focus on more New ships.
I dont agree- its one more slice into the flesh of the KDF whom play the faction rather than just farming with their KDF toons.
Cryptic should keep the AA unique to the KDF.

No the real reason that any kdf is complaining is the tactical advantage these consoles like leech and aceton are/were giving them in pvp. That's one of this games biggest PvP problems - pay to win ships - pay to win cheese consoles - and separate cheese for each faction. A proper PvP set-up would have all player access to the exact same gear and the outcome would come down to skill.
Really I don't care too much anymore as there is just so much broken in pvp - so I won't run this issue up the flagpole any more. If others still want to bug cryptic for the aceton - which would sell well - more power to them.
..the tactical advantage these consoles like leech and aceton are/were giving them in pvp. ...
Leech, yes. Aceton, no. You just hit them twice with your kcb and poof they go. It's not my fault that most feds cannot be bothered to actually look for and target an aceton when they pop up. But again, maybe anything other than space bar mashing is too much of a thing to handle? You are right, aceton assimilator does not make or break kdf. I want it to be kdf exclusive so that pure feddies can forever drool at the console but never have it

1. Target the Aceton.
2. Click HYT3.
3. Click mouse arrow on Torpedo launch only.
4. Evasive maneuver outta there.
I agree with your post. It's just too easy, and lazy to spam the spacebar than to try and manually fight with your ship.

It's also op to be able to spam a uni console device 3 times before the first one is even gone. There is no item in the game with such power that can be spammed as much and as often as the aceton - if the feds had it and the kdf did not you would hear non-stop screams for a nerf to its lack of significant CD and beam able to deploy so many on the map. There is no console in the game as exploitable as the aceton. Don't even demean yourself by trying to deny that.

As long as the Feds and Roms have their own unique, like the Valdore console for them roms, consoles then leaving the AA with the KDF is not an issue of wanting to keep a OP device for pvp for us.

I stand slightly corrected - I just ran a test on it right now:
45 sec cooldown - you can have 2 on the map but as soon as you deploy the 3rd - the first one explodes - even if it has time remaing - which is still op for a console.
All this is done from the back of my fleet Brel and does not cause me to decloak in the same manor as mines work.

What would you classify as the Fed equivalent of the Valdore/Aceton in that comparison?
Sincerely curious, since I can't easily think of any blueside console that is considered "mandatory" like the other two routinely are.
I agree with your post. It's just too easy, and lazy to spam the spacebar than to try and manually fight with your ship.
What this guy said. Everything in STO got a counter in one way or an other.
Maybe it is just me but what I'm hearing is "Give starfleet the AA" when it should be "Starfleet gets the AA and the KDF gets something". You are not asking for a console trade, you asking for the console. It sounds like the KDF could get targ pies out of the box and you would not care.
If every Starfleet idea got into game they would be flying KDF ships with KDF consoles, KDF weapons, and with an all Orion crew.

No-one has ever really been suggesting that - always a trade. So what sub T5 Fed console would you want - remember the aceton is a sub tier 5 console. I suggested in an earlier thread the t3 nebula detection console.
The AA is mandatory? I should go really pick one of tho-wait. I thought the leech was mandatory?
The Leech and AA are with my current ship at all times. Been that way for the past 2 years. I feel naked without them. Even in my shuttle the AA is with me.

As was already noted, the 180 arc torpedo is a must have for the A2B Bfaw cruisers since it allows for easy torp use without sacrificing broadside capabilities.

If you are referring to me you are talking out of your back side - while I don't play kdf primarily -- I have 8 kdf c-store ships and 5 kdf fleet ships - that's a bit overkill just for farming.
Sub T5?? Lmao. Oh no, if the AA is the OP, unbalanced, uber advantage many narrow mindedly claim it to be a equally powerful console must be offered up in trade. For example that 180 arc Torp console or the Valdore.
Sub T5 indeed... you cant cry about the AA till the point of OP and then devalue it just to ferengi your way into a deal.

The only reason it is op is because it can be spammed every 45 sec - personally I would only deploy it in the T'varo - as I use one in a Kdf T'varo and on 3 fleet Brel's - and that is only because being clocked most of the time - faw spam can rip you a new one in a Brel.
My irritation with the console is its over use. That is my one HUGE concern with having it go fed side - it is already spammed by kdf players that don't need to - like a fleet tor'Kat spamming it?? Really?? You are just doing it to TRIBBLE off Fed players in that case. So yeah if it were to go fed side it would need further adjustments.

If you are referring to me you are talking out of your back side - while I don't play kdf primarily -- I have 8 kdf c-store ships and 5 kdf fleet ships - that's a bit overkill just for farming.
Sub T5 indeed... you cant cry about the AA till the point of OP and then devalue it just to ferengi your way into a deal.

Did I refer to you? being a bit oversensitive since I refered to farmers and not you specifically. Do you farm your Klingons?
