I don't hate them just tired of seeing them be slapped on anything and everything lately. It's like someone post a new ship they released isn't mean enough and they add a hanger and call it a day lol.
didnt gecko say something about a 2-set with the separation and the cloaking device?
i hope they make the lance a weapon like the wing cannon so it can fire as often as seen in the series. just give it a very narrow fireing angle. then put a 3-set bonus on it and there we have our fed dread set.
Bonus could be something like turnrate for the 2pc and extended decloak dmg boost like from infiltrator for the 3pc to make using the normal not battle cloak more viable.

He mentioned adding a 3 pc with the cloaking device console the separation console and Antimatter spread console from the t4 venture Which makes me wonder if you'll be able to use all 3 on the Galaxy R also after they add the 3 pc to them..

Hold up a second and back up. They are adding a 3 piece set to the Venture? So if we have the Venture already will we be getting this set if implemented?
And far as the Gal-X is concerned, I too agree the Spinal laser needs a serious upgrade. It should be THE hardest hitting hole punching phaser in the game bar none. Thou shalt not have a stronger phaser than the spinal.

I think it means they'll just do what they did to the Odyssey and change the consoles so they give a bonus if you have the consoles installed already automatic upgrade.

(I'm actually scared of the rage comments if i write this :P)
Well, i think the Galaxys are not the problem, the Gal-R would work if there were more ENG BOFF abilities, the X would work if it had a 10th console slot (+1 tac!?) and the Lance finally made accurate (in addition to the ability thing of course).
With they'd work i mean they'd be on par with other "tanky/low-med dps" cruisers like the oddy (with its more versatile BOFF layout, but similar stats as the R) ... though it must be said that cruisers are still inferior to DPS ships.
I think the first step that should be done are new ENG Abilities (especially @ Ensign rank), if that won't work, you have my permission to beg for better Galaxies :P
(space for your rage comment underneath XD)
Agreed but reduce the cooldown on the lance by half and add hanger bays.
I wouldn't have an issue with the hangars as long as it wasn't the sole "fix" done to the X. From what I understand, the X in canon had an expanded shuttle bay to house fighters and stuff anyway.
But like I said, I'm okay with hangars ONLY IF they solve the other problems the ship has first.

I couldn't agree more with this. Making the Lance into an equipable weapon similar to the Kumari's wing cannons would both make it into a more viable weapon as well as get rid of the issue of Dreadnought Cruiser builds being locked into using Phaser energy type.
The current Lance mechanics could be a special firing mode accessed with a 2 or 3 set bonus.
Not sure, but is the Lance just the same as the Javelin on the Guramba Siege Destroyer?
It's Disruptor only like the lance is Phaser only?
If that's the case - I see no real problem with this weapon. At times the Javelin does over 80k damage depending on shields and what kind of ship.. but most of the time it's well over 30k.
At least with the Dreadnought you don't have to go transformer before firing again. I'm not complaining about the Guramba as I love the time it takes to transform. There is some merit to it and that's cooling down on the Threat I receive from all the DPS I put out, giving others a chance to tank.. which my build isn't made for.
I haven't flown the Dreadnought, so I can't really comment on it.. but maybe the major problem may be is the cooldown times of these abilities. It takes too much, 3-2 minutes?
The X appeared briefly in a few scenes in the final episode of TNG. So what canon are you referring to?
I know this is a really weak argument, but someone can back me up on this if they have the book.
I *Think* that the X had an entry in the TNG tech manual. I myself used to have a Trek Encylopedia somewhere I ought to try and dig out, but it's been so long now...
Like I said, I apologize for the weak argument, but I know a forumer here somwhere has a tech manual, or something that delves into off-screen details about the ship.
EDIT: I'm doing a little digging on my own to see what I can find. I found an E-book version of one of the manuals I think, I'm gonna look and see.

The Lance and the Javelin serve the same sort of purpose. The Javelin is what the Lance should be.
The damage is high for both, but the Cooldown on the lance is 3 minutes long. Also, unless you AND your target are sitting dead still, the Lance has an 80% chance of missing. You could be doing all sorts of crazy stuff in a Garumba, and still hit anything you want every time you fire the Javelin, which I might add, has a much lower CD, from what I understand. Half that of the Lance.
I fly a Dreadnought as my primary ship most of the time, AND use it's cloak, so I can answer most questions anyone can ask. I've been thinking of giving it a cannon build just to see how viable it might be, and to add that to my experience.

As someone who owns and has used both ships, they are the same concept, but Starfleet bidded thier production out to people that couldn't fix a peanut-butter and jelly sandwich much less make a weapon. The Garumba's javelin procurement team actually did their homework when sourcing their project out.
The Fed' lance will miss a large, immobile target that is .01 Km away the majority of the time. I don;t think the Jav' on my Garumba has ever missed.
I fly a Dreadnought as my primary ship most of the time, AND use it's cloak, so I can answer most questions anyone can ask. I've been thinking of giving it a cannon build just to see how viable it might be, and to add that to my experience.
Single cannons w/turrets actually work pretty well on the ship. CRF or CSV don't impact the lances cooldown and the 180' arc on the singles as well as hire rate of fire (increased proc's per second) is very nice for that ship.

there is a ziilions points i could show you that would illustrate the abysmal difference in efficiency that exist beetwen this 2 weapons but i really don't have time tonight.
so i will just suggest you to try it out and see by yourself, go on tribble server and there buy the galaxy x.
a thousands words is no match for a good experience.
I flew my Galaxy-X loyally from the day it became available on the C-Store (Nearly three years ago) until I had access to Fleet Cruisers. I have more hull hit points, more shield hit points, a faster turning rate, higher speed, more defense, a better BOFF layout, a better console layout, and double the Cruiser Comm Array skills on my Fleet Excelsior than I do my Galaxy-X. That just seems wrong in my head.
Outside of RP issues, sticking strictly to game play issues, please give me one reason to fly the Galaxy-X over my Fleet Excelsior, Fleet Avenger, or Fleet Sovereign? As an Engineer and all things being equal, I can out DPS and out Tank my Galaxy-X in a smaller, more nimble ship.
That said, I really don't know what the fix for the Galaxy-X should be or even if there should be one! Should they go back and "fix" the Nebula? The D'Kyr? Those ships are older, from a game point of view, and they're losing their competitiveness too. The Vesta, Aventine, and Rademaker's are objectively better in almost every way.
I guess I'm just resigned to the fact that the Galaxy-X is a good ship for Lvls 40-49, but that's about it. Once you get access to Fleet Cruisers, the Galaxy-X just isn't good anymore. That's always been it's curse. At it's heart, it's a Tier IV ship that's been brought kicking and streaming to Tier V because the fans demanded it. Adding saucer separation or a hanger bay isn't going to fix it's problems.
@whamhammer Thanks for the idea, I may try that. Either that, or load it up with DHCs and Turrets, and fly is slow as living hell.
Alridgerunner, the only reason to fly an X over your Excelsior, if because you really, really like the X, despite its flaws. I can't really afford the fleet ships myself, but I'm pretty serious about my X. My fleet HAETS the fact I fly it instead of an escort, but to be honest? I love it. And every now and then, I get an awesome chance to see my opponent held still, I park my ship, and let loose with the Lance. Popped a friend of mine who is a 700 Day Vet, flying a Bug Ship, thank to him tearing me up hard enough for me to use Distress Call, and summon a Star Cruiser that locked him up in a tractor beam.

I don't quite have the funds or resources to get the high end Mk XII Purple RCS consoles needed for a high speed wannabe-scort build, hence my comment about flying it slow as christmas. If I'm dragging TRIBBLE at 1/4 impulse, I can do a half decent job of keeping people in front of me.
But yeah, that's not in the cards yet. If I did anything, I'd go with your build first.

if you fight other player, flying at 1/4 impulse is not a good idea, all you do is lower the already low defense score of the ship, wich open the way for crtitical hit, that work for pve too but is less critical here.
I don't really PvE, so it's not really an issue there, but that is a fair point. I'll sometimes run at 3/4 impulse so I can turn a little tighter, that happens more often than I do crawling at 1/4.

The only issue I have with the Galaxy-X is that the spinal lance has a miss chance. Not very useful for something that is abysmal against shields and has a 3 minute cooldown.
?
you mean PVP right?
because if not, your defense score IS a big issue, it is less an issue with pve not pvp.
Yeah, that was a screwup on my part. My apologies, I meant that I don't PvP. Whoops...
I STILL fly my Galaxy-X. I love it. Recently changed up my weapons on it a bit, gave it more forward firepower by adding a Phaser turret and the Omni-Directional AP beam on top of the KCB.
Yeah, that sounds weird, but it gives it a good boost in DPS. My T4 Galaxy runs an all AP build, and with the KCB AND the Omni AP beam? It's damned strong, especially for a T4, and has a HUGE frontal attack radius.
Because of the fact my Dread is still a Phaser build, it isn't as strong as my Galaxy AP build, but it's better than what it was. The Galaxy AP build has a bunch of fleet arrays on it, as well as the warp core that goes with the Omni AP beam. It ain't the best, but it's a fair decent beast. Beams come from everywhere on it.
