That's great news indeed!
Let's just hope that this time it's finally real.
Who knows but Geko (and maybe Dan)? I merely passing on the news and rumors I hear as soon as I can to give some bit of daylight to the dark times of the KDF.
Why? becuase I am still haunted by the many many fans who left the game back in beta when the sorry state of the KDF was seen before release. Sadly I have known whole klingon fan clubs who will not play STO from those days.
We can ill afford to lose more fans as Cryptic will certainly not build upon the KDF if nobody is playing it at all.
They really just need to give more tactical and science oriented ships for kdf. Bortasqu' was fun, but cruisers are really not the preference for most kdf players. Heck Romulans and Feds both have tactical carrier escorts and warbirds, while the KDF (the original carrier faction) doesn't have one, and is stuck with the cruiser oriented carrier like the flight deck cruiser which, like I said before, is not really the kdf player's preference.
Some people try to get the Kar'Fi to work well, but a lot of people just don't like the catfish.
The is STILL no T5 Raptor class ship in the C-Store. It seems like a huge omission to have no endgame "real money" ship in a whole class.
Klink T5 ships are ridiculously sparse in the C-Store; the Romulans had more T5 ships when their "Faction" launched!
The way they talk down to the KDF players... They lose money on the thought of making KDF ships or either they blame the players for stuff not selling or they cling on to how the last ship they made 2 years ago didn't sell well because they were desperate for money that they did anything the fed side wanted them too.
LOL with Cryptic. It's hard to SPEND money on the KDF side when there's a lack of things to buy on the KDF. The last C-Store ship for endgame is the lackluster Bortasqu' release, and that is almost 2 years ago.
Then Cryptic complains that the KDF doesn't make them enough money.
Great logic there, boys.
You don't expect much from anything if you don't give it enough attention. You try to grow a lawn of grass in the desert with no water and expect it to grow.

I think Geko was being optimistic with the 2014 release date he wanted to first make:
*Sharks with jet packs
*Xindi playable species
*A 5/3 K'Vort for federation players
*retrofit all existing maps for jet pack use
*Finish fleshing out the limited line of Federation ships
*Cardassian faction
*Complete seasons 8 - 15
I then believe we may get a Tier 3 ship and 1 - Uniform option
/sarcasm
I'd laugh off that timeline if it didn't seem more like the actual STO content timeline....
We don't want what the Feds have. We want the equivalent. We want fairer treatment. Concern, desire, greed to some extent, and passionate belief that the enough people would buy KDF items to make it worth Cryptic's while.
I'm waiting for the flood of fed fan boys and cryptic defenders to tell us how horrible we are for wanting a new ship lol
go ahead guys, start spitting out the same stuff we see on every other thread similar to this one.
Well, heck, since you asked....
No seriously, I do like to play my Fed officers more than my KDF ones, but hey, more ships for either side is a good thing, means more variety, both to use, and to destroy, lol. Personally, I think some KDF ships, especially, for example, the Orion ones, need to have far more skins, and paint jobs made available, as it is, they generally have 1, maybe two skins, and you can't put a drop of paint on them. (Don't know if the Gorn ships are that was as well).
As well, I think it's odd, that My Fed characters can start doing challenge match PvP as early as L4 or 5, yet my KDF characters are limited to being able to do them, til they're like L30ish. THAT needs to be reworked.
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
butcher suspect, "What'd you hit me with?"
Temperance Brennan, "A building"
The less they spend the less they get from the KDF.
And it gets kinda boring, infact by now my KDF sci has turned into simply the occasional char i take for a ride when my fed fleet mates need a special amount of healing (got a varanus, mind you).
I would play it again as my main char, IF there was something more than STF or fleet actions to do....

Don't get me wrong Roach, what I said (as I supose what most of us said) was not adressed at you, but rather at Cryptic. I for one am gratefull for your continuous efforts to dig up some KDF news and share it with us.
But you know how the saying goes - "Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me!".
And I was fooled once for this half of the year already unless Geko retcones his retcon and somehow manages to release a T5 C-Store ship before the 1-st of January. Players have come to the KDF forum asking "what happened to our ship?" and I was like "patience padawan, it's not 2014 yet" only to hear later that the ship is delayed which quite frankly left me feeling as an TRIBBLE.
So I hope it's understandable that I now have the aproach of seeing is believeing before I get all excited. I am optimistic for what it's worth, but also wary.
I am sorry about all those people that got dissapointed with the state of the KDF during the past years and left STO, it's such a wasted opportunity for the faction and for the game itself to grow and bring in more revenue. I can't really blame them for their choice, not everyone is as stubbron as some of us and if this game was not ST of which I'm such a damned fan, I'd probably do the same as them if the faction I play was so neglected. (which is impossible IMHO, cause I've never seen a game with such huge discrepancies between the factions)
Cryptic is just so darned shortsighted in many instances that it will hurt their game dearly in the long run, but they just wouldn't see it.

no worries from my end. I both understand and agree with the doubts about KDF growth. Still, I was just passing along what I have heard. Always take such rumors with a grain of salt.

If Stahl or STO team does what they did on recap of last year they are running out of time being that they haven't really come out with anything more than an anniversary ship which is the same as last year. So from year to year unless they actually get something new in and not the TRIBBLE fleet ships they have told us about they are pretty much compared to the previous year show their "metrics" of not doing a damned thing for the KDF lol.
Some may debate well its equal because there is level 1-50 content but say that to those who have near 20 kdf leveled before there was really any content to level with besides repeating dividian series over and over until you hit the empire defenses lol.
Funny thing is I remember all the new crowd from the f2p that would say they wouldn't alienate the KDF LOL. Now when I naysay they are like you told us so. So under progress with KDF they can just say...
My position now with Cryptic and Dan in regards to the KDF is believe it when I see it. Too many times have they bull*****ed us with false promises and platitudes while delivering vastly short of what was promised.
Tell me about these "klingons". Are they related to my contraband farmer?
LOL, yes they are. They spend more time rounding up contrabands and turning them in than blowing things up. (sounds like they are more related to the Feddies)
For the sake of listening for KDF ship snippets, I transcribed the following snippet from the recent Nov 6 interview with GandT (http://www.gandtshow.com/?p=3059)
(1:12:42, time based on MP3 track) "... I think that there are two Klingon ships planned. One for the near future that's coming out and one probably be early next year or something like spring next year. Uh, there is nothing in the immediate future for Romulan ships but it'll probably be a science vessel, it'll be the next thing I'll make for them. You know, something Vesta-like but not looking like the Vesta. That kind of level of quality for the Romulan science vessel..."
(1:15:40) "[Will be see any 5-forward weapon ships on the Klingon side]... Yes, sir. Probably more than one... Hopefully by the end of this year you'll see the first one and then more additional ones. We may even retrofit existing ships with a fifth slot because we are looking at them... some Birds of Prey and we don't have alot of resolution on changing them since all of their bridge officer scenes are identical right? So, we'll thinking about... here are something... I'll throw stuff that we're working on, on Birds-of-Prey: we're thinking about, you know, taking a look at their stats.. whether or not one of them might get a fifth forward weapon slot. I don't know, I'm going to say maybe. It has certainly been talked about. Us talking about... what were we going to do? Giving them "flanking". So, so, they're really fragile right? But they, they are supposed to be like, kinda like the assassin class right? So how does an assassin- how do you do a backstab? Let's give them flanking in space. So, high risk/high reward/high damage output right? That kind of thing."
(1:18:10) "... The Klingon ship coming out next is going to be very similar to the Avenger but not the same but similar in the kind of things that you get. Like a really beefy, squirelly, sort of battlecruiser weith five forward weapon slots."
I apologize for any miswords or misspelling from having to pause, rewind, play, type, and pause again.

Thanks for posting this!
I'm glad that they're finally taking a look at the BoPs, because not much else screams 'Klingon' more than the good old Bird of Prey. I actually like the direction their brainstorming goes on improving the BoPs - add a 5-th weapon and flanking bonuses. That could make the BoPs relevant again and add some unique flavor to the most unique thing the KDF has left.
*raises a mug of bloodwine* Here's to hoping this really happens in the near future!
I'm kinda hoping the hypothetical 5-frontal BoP will be a new C-store ship, tbh, if necessary a T5 Hohsus or Heghta retro. Now that I type that, yes, a Heghta retro for C-store, with 5 fore guns.
The flanking stuff sounds way awesome too, I have to say. Where can I sign?
Still, a crossing between a Battlecruiser and a Raptor'd get my zen too, if that comes first. Heck, who am I kidding, I'd get both ^^

Yes sir, a C-Store Hegh'ta with 5 fore weapons is what we need! I don't like the Hoh'sus, I think it's an ugly mo-fo, but the Hegh'ta is one of the meanest and best looking BoPs availible and it doesn't have a C-Store nor fleet variant yet!
That one has win written all over it as well as good sales for Cryptic.
Its sad we hadn't had a good KDF ship in a while. But its been like this since I started playing a few years ago. I got used to the idea of lack of ships and stuff for KDF.
USS Casinghead NCC 92047 launched 2350
Fleet Admiral Stowe - Dominion War Vet.
Thanks so much for the pain going thru to post that
I like how if its like the avenger at this point with nothing like it for KDF its welcomed.
I really like the space flanking idea.
I do have an idea I had been thinking of that would give some uniqueness to bops and raptors. Which could be used with or without the flanking damage idea. So this idea is if you see how romulan singularity meter goes and how un-trek sitting still and shooting something is. First make it where only lockbox and +1 consoles work on the tactical consoles. Then use that singularity meter as a damage meter so that the bops can harness weapons on a meter where it can be used for cloak and dagger type attacks. Just my rough idea of something Geko and teams can implement.
1. The faster the speed + the longer the weaponry (lets say DHC's) on a target the faster the damage building goes.
2. Being the battle cloak is the most unique besides boff stations make it where it only can decay when the bops are not cloaked so that it will basically build up a *backstab*
3. Allow this meter to be sole base of damage so at least on BoPs Geko could have a design of how he wanted an armor console to work where the consoles people use now won't modify the damage but allow more customization to use those +1 and lockbox consoles where tactical is.
I hope my idea is kinda clear on that and maybe Geko and the Dev's can improve on it so that it brings a new style of combat and not only help BoP's with matching DPS of those high DPS non-KDF ships but to make the BoP something you can show off your piloting skills that can't be over done by number crunching consoles
Edit: If they do go with something along this idea that I want to see BoP's do I'd probally give an arm and a leg to focus test one lol
Hegh'ta - 5 fore weapon, 4 tac console BOP. Yes please. I so want to replace my hideous fleet hoh'sus.
"With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censored, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably."
I was looking at the full list of KDF/Romulan/Fed ships. The KDF could invent time ships, but somehow their improved science skills never translated into a 5 sci console ship.
everything kdf keeps getting pushed back. they start working on one, but oh! a new lock box is coming up, need to stop and build 2 ships for that. ok back to work on the kdf ship, oh! an event, seasonal or featured episode, needs a ship, stop working on the on that kdf ship again, need to make that. ok back to work on that kdf ships! oh wait actually we need to make the avenger, literally a kdf battle cruiser for the federation. hope the kdf fans dont take that personally or anything. ok! back to work on the kdf ship, oh TRIBBLE another lockbox is needed because a new season is supposed to launch, and that season has a new npc race so they need like 5 different ships or so made for them. ok now thats done, season 8 is about to launch, lets get back to that kdf ship. oh no! winter event is in less then a month, need a new winter ship!
:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
highest priority- alien non faction ships thats beter then anything made by the faction themselves
mid priority- fed and rom content
lowest priority- anything kdf
there are so many kdf ship models already in game not useable at end game. stop wasting times and turn them into fleet ships already! christ! i'll try to list them
tier 2 bop- has a c store costume i would have incentive to buy if i could use it at end game
tier 4 bop- has a c store costume i would have incentive to buy if i could use it at end game
tier 5 bop
tier 3 raptor- has a c store costume i would have incentive to buy if i could use it at end game
tier 4 raptor- has a c store costume i would have incentive to buy if i could use it at end game
tier 2 battle cruiser
tier 3 nasican destroyer
tier 3 gorn sci
tier 3 orain flight deck cruiser
tier 4 gorn sci
tier 5 orian flight deck cruiser
what could they do with these ships at fleet level, i can think of quite a few things.
tier 2 bop- sci heavy bop. sensor analysis, sub system targeting, 4th sci console, ENS sci
tier 4 bop- heavy eng bop. 3rd aft weapon, .88 shield mod, 4th eng console, universal ens
tier 5 bop- 5 forward weapons
tier 3 raptor- fleet MVAM station setup but universal ENS, 5 tactical consoles
tier 4 raptor- fleet flight deck carrier station setup but universal ENS, 5 tactical consoles.
tier 2 battle cruiser- excelsior stations setup (AT LEAST DO THIS ONE IF YOU DO ANY)
tier 3 nasican destroyer- steamrunner station setup
tier 3 gorn sci- vesta station setup, 2/4/4 console setup
tier 4 gorn sci- vesta station setup, 2/5/3 console setup
cryptic, think of the investment in new art you would save by releasing a lot of what came on fed 3 packs and c store ships on simple kdf fleet ship models that arent being used at end game. all these ships got to be 85% done by default, they just need to be hooked up.
Hear all, believe nothing. I don't see a ship, you don't see a ship, therefore, there is no ship. Given that they can simply conjure up a ship on 5 minutes notice like they did with the Avenger, I find all of these claims totally unconvincing. Their track record for honesty about such matters is simply embarrassingly poor.

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
highest priority- alien non faction ships thats beter then anything made by the faction themselves
mid priority- fed and rom content
lowest priority- anything kdf
there are so many kdf ship models already in game not useable at end game. stop wasting times and turn them into fleet ships already! christ! i'll try to list them
tier 2 bop- has a c store costume i would have incentive to buy if i could use it at end game
tier 4 bop- has a c store costume i would have incentive to buy if i could use it at end game
tier 5 bop
tier 3 raptor- has a c store costume i would have incentive to buy if i could use it at end game
tier 4 raptor- has a c store costume i would have incentive to buy if i could use it at end game
tier 2 battle cruiser
tier 3 nasican destroyer
tier 3 gorn sci
tier 3 orain flight deck cruiser
tier 4 gorn sci
tier 5 orian flight deck cruiser
what could they do with these ships at fleet level, i can think of quite a few things.
tier 2 bop- sci heavy bop. sensor analysis, sub system targeting, 4th sci console, ENS sci
tier 4 bop- heavy eng bop. 3rd aft weapon, .88 shield mod, 4th eng console, universal ens
tier 5 bop- 5 forward weapons
tier 3 raptor- fleet MVAM station setup but universal ENS, 5 tactical consoles
tier 4 raptor- fleet flight deck carrier station setup but universal ENS, 5 tactical consoles.
tier 2 battle cruiser- excelsior stations setup (AT LEAST DO THIS ONE IF YOU DO ANY)
tier 3 nasican destroyer- steamrunner station setup
tier 3 gorn sci- vesta station setup, 2/4/4 console setup
tier 4 gorn sci- vesta station setup, 2/5/3 console setup
tier 3 orian flight deck cruiser- COM eng, TLC tac, TL sci, LT sci, ENS uni, 4/3/3 console setup
tier 5 orian flight deck cruiser- COM eng, TLC sci, TL eng, LT tac, ENS sci, 4/4/2 console setup
cryptic, think of the investment in new art you would save by releasing a lot of what came on fed 3 packs and c store ships on simple kdf fleet ship models that arent being used at end game. all these ships got to be 85% done by default, they just need to be hooked up.
