So there's a lot of "captured" ships available through lockboxes and the lobi store, i.e. captured Tholian ships, temporal vessels captured first by the Tholians and then by us, etc.
My thinking is, surely the UFP and Starfleet must have captured a few Klingon-constructed vessels, right? And vice-versa? Why not have captured enemy vessels in the next lockbox, instead of mirror-universe ships?
I dunno, just an idea. Which kdf ships would you most want your feds to be able to fly? Which fed ships does your kdf toon itch for?

Don't think this would be a good idea. I can just see the rage from KDF players at even suggesting Starfleet getting access to KDF ships. There was already a lot from the old Cross Faction consoles.
As a KDF player, I always thought that there should be one featured mission that had the player using a cross faction ship and that at the end of the mission, they kept it.
That is the extent of what I would be willing to agree with in STO.
You know Cryptic has Jumped the Proverbial Shark when they introduced Tractor Pulling to Star Trek Online!
I'm not suggesting we give access to anything special. No captured Kar'Fi or anything. But what about something less impressive? Captured KDF Qin Raptor and Captured Federation Star Cruiser, for example. Console-less ships that can only be bought for dilithium but are normally not available for that faction and which would represent a fairly unique way to play when given them.
Great way to kill any reason to play the Klingon faction and as such HELL NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO................................................................................
Having Starfleet Captains flying around in Birds of Prey and Klingon Captains flying around in Galaxy class starships has to be the worst idea I've encountered here. And I've seen some pretty bad ideas on this forum.
I am starting to feel sad for a lot of Federation players because even will all the stuff they have they can never seem to be happy always wanting more and more and more and more.
Unfortunately their lack of being happy with what they have has caused the quality of the game especially for the Klingon side to suffer because they keep whining for more and more and Cryptic gives it to them instead of improving the Klingon faction that has gotten so little love.

It's a vicious circle that has been dug so deep who knows if it will ever be gotten out of.
Can't have a honest conversation because of a white knight with power
The Mirror ships are there because it was an easy way out of the "oh i love the star cruiser design too bad i hate the setup" trap cryptic put themselves in.
The Mirror variants make sense for those players that like the look of one ship but like the setup of the other ship better. Think recon sci and DSSV....
That basically was a featured that has been asked for since release....
Now there are always a few people who want to roll klinker ships on the fed side and vice versa but so far ,they thankfully have been ignored and i think that is a tradition STO should uphold.
If you start this TRIBBLE you might as well just throw all factions together.

How could it be a worse idea than having them use captured Tholian ships and fighters by the hundreds? At least, unlike Tholians, Fed and KDF species share a common physiology and we've even seen privately purchased BoPs on TNG.
Even if I wouldn't like to see it happening, having captured or sold KDF/Fed ships would make way more sense than most lockbox ships...
As far as the OPs question is concerned: I wouldn't care either way. If I want to play a BoP, I play KDF, if I want a Galaxy, I just play one of my Fed characters. Considering that there are virtually no differences or limitations between the 2 factions, it doesn't really matter which side my BoP, Raptor or Vesta is on...
I don't have a Klingon toon, but I have to say,...the way they keep getting pooped on is ridiculous. I mean why even have the KDF if they're nothing but toilet paper in this game? It's like the devs don't give a hoot about the KDF faction, why even allow new players to create a KDF toon if they have nothing to look forward to?
I personally don't understand why the KDF keeps getting suppressed. Common sense would have it, if the KDF are "warmongers" shouldn't they have the most ships/weapons in the game? Or have the most ships/weapons released?
One day Cryptic will be free from their Perfect World overlord. Until that day comes, they will continue to pamper the whales of this game, and ignore everyone that isn't a whale.

"Common Sense" is what they're doing now. Putting their limited rescources where they believe that they're able to get the most money in return.
After all, it's a company trying to make a game to generate profit and not some fan-made modding project.
Agreed. getting obscure Aliens ships that do not belong to any faction is fine but to start muddling the iconic faction ships to sell lock boxes is obscene.
If you want to pilot a fed ship the play fed, a KDF ship then play KDF or a Romulan ship yhen pick a side.
We don't want what the Feds have. We want the equivalent. We want fairer treatment. Concern, desire, greed to some extent, and passionate belief that the enough people would buy KDF items to make it worth Cryptic's while.

Thats just a badass idea man, totally awesome. Now there is alot of bashing, especially from the KDF players since they know they got all the good stuff, while the federation has mostly crapy ships. But this idea could be turned into one of the best lockbox idea ever. Like the temporal lockboxes, if you open one with a kdf toon you get a fed ship and if you open a lockbox with a fed toon you get a kdf ship.
My favorite ship of choice would be a captured b'rel bird of prey (but with a normal cloak) for fed and as for the kdf, i dunno, whatever they may choose. I doubt they would want any ship, aside this new Avenger maybe, since most if not all are way under their own pool of ships. Maybe a Defiant or a T5 Sao Paulo with a build-in cloak and 10 consoles.
I'm waiting for The forumer who RP's Dukat to get in here and ask why not.
You dont have to wait too long
Anyway, before the more whines and crys come, check this idea of the console that would come with it. Its inspired from one episode from DS9 when Dukat takes in his captured BoP Sisko, Worf and Odo, disguised as klingons. They didnt used the cloak to get there but some sort of holo-filter for communications, but thats becouse the ship probably wasnt classified as MIA so its identification codes were still good.
Now my idea is somewhat similar, how about a Console: Broadcast Friendly Authentification Code/Signal. In short terms to make the ship belong to the enemy's faction while the console is active. Now the enemy faction software recognicion is allready implemented in-game on the romulan drone ships so i dont think yould be to hard to do this. So basicly its a cloak thats not a cloak lol. Like in PvP to change your color to match enemy's color and in PvE to make enemies not to attack you until you get really close. But i think the ship's name should change too and i dont know if thats possible. And not just the prefix, the whole name, since it would still look suspicious a ship like U.S.S. Goh'tah or a I.K.S. Enterprise lol. Maybe to pick up a generic random name from the lists where you name you ship and when you deactivate the console to revert to your original name, and faction of course.

I know, i remember when i played that mission, on fed side where you get to fly a BoP, i was soo disapointed that i couldnt keep it, even if it didnt had a battle cloak but a normal cloak.

Bleed Green and Gold
Oh yeah.... Way to keep the war going. We're trying to make peace with the KDF. Not REALLY cheese them off.
What are you going to give them to take the thing?
There any other kind?
Sorry, I meant "angry Klingon players".
Although that being said...

That being said..."angry Klingon players" is redundant?

R.I.P
I do not buy the limited resorces excuse after hearing well they have done in both proft and Dev team growth recently
R.I.P
after all... He did it....
Theirs is not anger but righteous fury.
As is "Greedy Fed" :-P
