I looked on Tribble and the only thing I am liking so far is the Proton Particle Stabilizer. Any extra weapon power is fine by me. I am still researching the rest of the stuff. Looking at the different tiers I think I am going with:

    Tier I - Deadly Aim

Tier II - Advanced Hull Reinforcemenet

Tier III - Active Armor Hardening

Tier IV - Active Hull Hardening

Tier V - No choice (Defiance)

    Grendel the Wise
    USS ATTILA KHAN (NX-921911)
Fleet Admiral of the U.S.S. ATTILA KHAN-CDA (NX-921911).

Its only a 3 piece set, it just gives you a choice of Singularity core or warp core as you obviously can't use both.

    /ahem

It's a five piece set with bonuses for equipping up to four pieces (since you can't equip both a singularity and m/am core at the same time.

    I have a feeling no.

Or if they do, they will shift the bonuses on the sets to be 3 piece and 4 piece bonuses to avoid it.

So even if you wanna run say...

    MACO shields
    Borg engines
    Borg deflector
Borg warp core (if they add one)

You'd still only get what is considered the current 2 piece bonus: Namely the hull heal thingy.

Maybe, in order to not make people feel SOL, they may add new two piece bonuses, possibly nothing along the lines of what the current two piece stuff is, so any of the 'nicer' bonuses would require more pieces.

They mentioned similar improvements to the other Reps, but that the work that would be involved means do not expect it any time soon. Which kind of makes sense, they are doing a lot with the new Voth Rep and it would take a bunch of effort to make all of that available to the other Reps as well.

In all fairness Geko claims via podcast that the other tiers are ready to follow suit but not at first as the voth rep will serve as a starter, subject to revision until they find that ready to move to the other reps as a template. He did not however elaborate further on any changes to set items and/or bonuses. That's what would leave me to believe it wouldn't be an issue of difficulty but rather an issue of unwillingness.

I only say so because I think they'd approach that with eggshell-walking which translates into one nod to the time spent however I don't think they want to open up a pandora's box of piece set balance issues in congruency with a season release to boot.
May good management be with you.

Was going off of what gorngonzolla said here:
It's a bit more complicated than simply "cloning" the Dyson Joint Command rep. We need to make sure the existing reps are giving out meaningful and varied items in the Equipment Requisition boxes and stores unlocked at each tier are selling valuable items. In some cases, we'd ideally create new set items and algorithmically generated items (the stuff you see in the dilithium stores) to flesh out the reputation so that there's meaningful rewards at each tier.

That said, if players enjoy the new reputation we'd want to make sure the experience is consistent across all reps.

TL;DR version: Updating older reps will require a lot of work, it's too early to say precisely when we would perform this update.

    Regards,
    Phil "Gorngonzolla" Zeleski

The whole S8 thing has kind of left me not wanting to do anything outside of the Cataclysm stockpiling thing for Dil and Fleet Marks.

More Cores, even Rep Cores...possibly other ships...the potential changes to Rep for alts.

Yeah, I fly in circles around the Entity and DOFF. Well, I did do a Die25 in Ker'rat with a Vo'Quv sporting shiny shoot me shields - needed to do something different.

You are not alone. I rarely play this game anymore, merely 1 hour in the last week thanks to all the existing broken TRIBBLE and bugs in PvP and the expected non-sense (i.e. flying dinosaurs, more boost to burst damage as if that's really needed). Even then, doing some elite PvE content is all I do. I noticed that PvEers are actually much nicer people and more fun. Plus, that's only the instance I don't need to fly my nasty T'Varo that decloaks everything within 12KM - you know, it gets tiring after a while. But as it stands, that's the only viable ship I can think of given all the woes in PvP.

This was actually taken last night and it was fun : http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/849219947724403292/0272210411D21471601D9D556EB1A0D266764556/

Once again proving Tactical Team is unnecessary to survive Crystalline Entity (Elite) and still win 1st place without any tactical stations or using any broken ability like CRF or FAW with DEM or artificial double tap.

Some of us are into fair play and don't exploit bugs. But it seems, Cryptic is clueless as to how to grow or even maintain a viable PvP play for STO. While those who constantly use known exploits need to bear some responsibility, Cryptic itself is at fault for constantly coming up with these game breaking mechanics / design and inability to fix bugs.

That is a bit sad to hear Iskandus, though I am jealous of the AP mag regulator, all I ever get is tetryon cannons -.-

Even I don't grind as much, the power creep is making PvE a lot less enjoyable too on the whole. Started getting into ground a bit more so I'm looking forward to the new content for that, but really ground is the only thing left that's challenging anymore.

Maybe this is Cryptics way of dealing with PvP, add so much creep that it becomes boring and so few play it that they can justify never supporting it again or even getting rid of it. Which is a shame as PvP doesn't always have to be 2 teams pew pewing against each other, they just need to be competing against each other.

It is through repetition that we learn our weakness.
A master with a stone is better than a novice with a sword.

Has damage got out of control?
This is the last thing I will post.

I'm just wondering that the Protonic Polaron weapons are supposed to be like. Cause my 5 Mk XII Purple polaron consoles and my Attack ship would like to set up a date ^_^

Wait a sec! Protonic weapons?!? Does that mean using the subspace modulator will be a terrible idea against someone using these Protonic weapons???

-400 proton weapon damage resist when subspace modulator.

    That's exactly what it means.

    Nifty...I'd been wondering about those.

Nifty's for sharing it, mind you - not nifty for what it is. What it is...I'm going to take some Excedrin and lie down now...

At least the items themselves are not that great. So no idea if the setboni make them worthwhile.

It was kind of odd...looking at the pieces, those set bonuses...it's like they don't add up at first glance, eh?

There are pieces that look Escort and pieces that look non-Escort. Combat Engines and Regen Shields? Hrmm, maybe it's for Destroyers/Hybrids and Battle Cruisers to muddle through in the middle there?

You truly think they had a ship class in mind when designing these items? I would assume they just sort of pick a theme and throw stuff together that they think fits.

I can't remember if they actually said it or if I just imagined it, but I think they did in regard to previous sets...that they build in things that don't make sense to balance things out. So things aren't too good. Yeah, I probably imagined that - or - paraphrased it all wrong...but it's a common element to much of what they do. Nothing's quite perfect. You always have to spend more...

...but in the end, they may have just done what you said while considering a casual playerbase. Here's some stuff that maybe 'n might help them out while trying to do X or Y.

From what I can see it is a set made for those who do not want to rely on TT to stay alive against burst. And it is going to do a terrible job at it.

After testing i think i will get the weapons and that's it, everything else just seems lackluster. Maybe it's me, the ship set doesn't stand up to omega or fleet gear, i just see nothing that makes me go wow. I mean if its the Voth you plan on fighting all the time then its good, i don't want to fight the Voth constantly, oh well looks like i might just do this rep when i feel like it.

Yes. If I can get myself to grind enough marks I will get it for the skin. Unfortunately I am no fan of ground so I will most likely just look at it between space battles.

Looks like star trek is a game you gotta play casually. Don't try to understand the system, just put stuff together and pew pew. If you specialize and keep on stacking on offense (and to a lesser extent on defense), you will trivialize a lot of the content in sto.

The pve content is trivial even if you play casual (as long as you have a brain). STO lacks any kind of challenge (aside from pvp) but it does offer you star trek. It offers a lot of choice in ships/builds and fun toys. I suppose the hardest content in STO would be the ground ESTFs with optionals. Than again I just suck at ground so they might be trivial if you know what you are doing. They should give us the CO char creator than I would enjoy ground a lot more I think :P
If you are not here to find a challenge and if you can let go of too extreme min/maxing sto can offer some relaxed fun.
