I will not log in and buy this ship... I will not log in and buy this ship... I will not log in and buy this ship...

My determination was strong, but my willpower is getting weaker. :)
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

I dumped my Kumari for this ship. Not only can it dish out the punishment, it can take twice as much.
Well excuse me for having enormous flaws that I don't work on.

My resistance fell when i read that the Fleet version was coming at the same time. Got tons of EC for modules and Fleet Credits to spare. :)

/edit: I'm still surprised as hell that they made a Fleet version instead of going the usual 3-pack way...

In spite of my grievances of this ship (posted in other threads), I bought it using Dilithium converted to Zen. And the ship itself isn't bad. Though it's hard not to treat her like an escort.

And even though it was a kitbash of 2409 ships, if you look at certain angles she does look like the Perpetual STO Excalibur.

Personally I don't think she is even close to the best looking girl on the block(hello T5 connie -pls):D:rolleyes:;), But she just tears through EVERYTHING and then some!!

And she moves like a bat out of hell!! - (hello meatball)

Power/maneuvering/firepower - she just feels like ship every Starfleet captain would want.

Weren't most of them already considered to be junk? Wasn't everyone who wanted a Tac Cruiser already flying an Excelsior from Season 2 - or if they had a Fleet then a Fleet Excel or Fleet Sovereign now? Those were the only two useful Tac Cruisers in the game - and the Excel was the only useful Tac Cruiser for nearly 3 years.

I fly the ship in my signature and will continue to do so.. That said, I'm quite certain that the Avenger will be a very welcome addition to ESTFs as long as their pilots can work with the team. Your connie is as viable right now as it was last week or last year. After all, it isnt the ship, its how you use it.. I'm honestly looking forward to teaming with Avengers.Thy'll make one hell of an impact.

Given that my Engi has diddly squat, i'm still on the fence about damage dealing and receiving. However, I like the looks and I like the layout.

Anyone flying one previously a driver of a Fleet Regent? Curious how big a difference the adjustments make, and if said adjustments are worth spending $30 more over.

Excelsior,Ambassador,Regent and Odyssey are not junk before this new ship arrived. Now they are going to be considered junk compared to the Avenger. Avenger is just to dam good.

If you like more turn and dual heavies up front - a ship that slides around instead of turning like a whale - more firepower - and the immediate use of the AWESOME new cruiser commands - yes she is definitely worth the $25 to 30 bucks.

I have the fleet version as 1 sci console is just not enough for me.

This is the first non-canon ship in STO that I've actually liked. At all. In any way.
Coming from me, that is saying a lot.

The Excelsior was the best Tac Cruiser in the game since Season 2 - only to be replaced by the Fleet Excelsior or Fleet Sovereign. People like to argue about which of those 2 are best. The Regent is just a slightly better T5 Sovereign. The Odyssey has always been a crappy, crappy, crappy Tac Cruiser - with literally hundreds of posts on the forum from people about how disappointed they were in it from a Tac prospective. It's a good tanker, good support ship, but a lousy Tac Cruiser.

The people who have wanted Tac Cruisers have always chosen the Excelsior. Numbers guys weren't flying around in Starcruisers, Galaxy, or Sovereigns. They have always been flying Excelsiors; and that hasn't changed since Season 2. Now they have another choice too.

I own a standard regent.. Its a damned good tank. The beams make me miss my scimitar though..

Yeah it does, also the way the pylons and nacelles bunch up near the saucer sort of reminds me of the sketch John Eaves did for "First Contact" on the lower right here.

Oh I know its going to be better. Just that I already own both the Fleet Regent and the Fleet Tor'kaht, so is it better enough to be worth shelling out $30 more?

Edit: Honestly the existence of the Avenger makes me really regret buying the Regent at all, since I only picked it up at the last sale a few months ago. Releases like this make it really difficult to plan for the long haul.

They'll still have an edge when the Advanced Comm Arrays hit live. Those ships will have access to all 4 channels; the Avenger only gets 3.

    2,500 for the C-Store version.

Yes they will have 1 addition com array power but not enough to make them nearly as good as the Avenger.

How many external weapons are on it? I mean like cannons and turrets?

My corsair has six cannons on the front, two turrets on top of the main body, two turrets on the bottom og the main body, and two small cannons on either side of the tips of the main body. for 14 cannons/turrets that you can see. I don't know about beam arrays or beam bank as I'm not sure what those look like.

So how many cannons does the Avenger have in comparison?

PS: I actually think the Avenger looks cool especially with the Avenger skin. If I ever bother to fly my fed toon again I could see him in an Avenger.

What, like.... on the ship model?
I mean, it's absolutely covered with phaser strips. And at the very tip of the saucer are what seem to be three torpedo tubes; the aft tubes are well hidden, though. And it has four forward facing cannon ports along the saucer, too. Flanking the deflector are two prominent tubes that launch the V.A.T.A.S. probes.
In-game stat wise, it can mount 5 forward weapons and 3 aft weapons, and it can mount all weapon types in the game, being a battle cruiser.

I have never moaned or complained about the ship - I love it!! I have 32 c-store ships an shuttles and it is definitely the best Fed ship that I have. I still love my Fleet Excel and it's probable that it will remain my primary Aux to bat FAW boat - which it excels(no pun intended:P) at.

Of course until all cruisers get the Avengers new cruiser commands - it will be the dominate crusier is the game by a country mile - that is without a doubt!!
