I don't think anyone here has any illusions that a bigger version of the B'rel would have the same turnrate as the smaller ships, especially since the bigger ship was never shown to be particularly nimble anyway.
So this is a textbook example of "missing the point".
Also, this is Geko talking, who once said that there will not a be a T5 Ambassador while a T5 Excelsior was okay because the ship is "cooler".
Yet we nontheless have a T5 Ambassador ingame.
There was a reason given but i'm not sure how it could be valid. Basically he said "there is already the b'rel and he wont give us an oversized version of it". He went on to say something about turnrate as if anyone would expect the turnrate to stay the same.
Sadly the pop guys are such fanboys that they didnt point out that it has been seen on the tng rom episode so we dont know what his answer would have been.
It didnt felt like a reason more like "just no forget it".
Funny thing was he said we get the fleet guramba when we get the fleet gal x. Not sure why they are related maybe cause of the lance would be my guess
Other than the PR misstep about using "No" in the response instead of "Rather than the K'Vort class, we are currently in the pre-design stages of a more nimble Bird-of-Prey ship for the KDF; however at this point we are still working on the details, but we'll let you know more when we get them a bit more ironed out."... I can actually understand where they are coming from in being hesitant to put out another slow turning craft, and the K'Vort ship class as well; I've seen mixed reviews on the Bortasqu', and even right here in this thread the community can't agree on how big the K'Vort is... much less turnrate, performance, etc. Add to that the current scuttlebutt about a new Negh'var coming out that would likely fill a similar niche, and it gets more problematic from their point of view.
Honestly, we need a good number of ships to balance out the KDF roster relative to the Federation, and if we heard they were working on something to do that I'd be happy. Personally, I don't actually count a battle cruiser in the need category, since those are one of the few thing the KDF has had done well. A balance to the MMSVs would be preferable thanks to limited Science options, and if that came in the form of specialized BoPs all the better. Then again, the 3-Pack I proposed reveals my leanings on that aspect :P
For that last bit you mentioned... when was the last time the KDF got a T5/Fleet ship without Starfleet getting one too? I know it happened before I started playing... so a Fleet Guramba makes perfect sense to come out when the Fleet Gal-X is released.
With each passing day I wonder if I stepped into an alternate reality. The Cubs win the world series. Donald Trump is President. Britain leaves the EU. STO gets a dedicated PvP season. Engineers are "out of control" in STO.
While the discussion rages on about the size of the ship, most sources list the K'Vort at around 350m for the prime universe. That is nothing outragous, it's the size of our Hegh'ta.
In the end I don't care how the ship is named. I just want to fly a BoP with heavy wing cannons as seen in the shows. Heavy wing cannons found their way into the game, but for some reasons not on the only ship actually fitted with such weapons in the TV shows...
But ok, makes it easier to just paint them green, change the procc and release them on a proper ship.
And by proper I don't mean a cryptic design, but a bird of prey.
I digress... it is probably to much to ask for Star Trek ships in a Star Trek game.

That's exactly the point why a new negh'var we already have it plus a fleet version, the bortas 3pk and the Kamarang is a great sci battle cruiser so why a new negh'var, because it won't sell well? sorry tinfoil hat on for a moment

Is it wrong to wonder how well a Tinfoil Hat costume unlock would sell in the C-Store? Well, probably pretty well since it would be added as a Federation-only costume option...

The really strange thing id how they are setting themselves up for disappointment. Maybe the new ship will sell good if its a 5-front but new battlecruiser is not what kdf needs.
Well we will see i still dont get why feds get straight what they asked for (okay not everything but a lot of it) and they only thing ldf asked here in the forum for is k'vort and more fleet versions like guramba. If they really fear they dont get their money out they put in why give us something we dont really want?

Sorry, couldn't help myself there, lol. :P
That's alright been that kinda day, I'm just waiting for Geko to announce the feds are getting a B'rel with the Avenger stats/layout copy pasted on to it since feds got to fly a bop in the Doomsday mission.
Makes me wonder if all the "rumors" of Geko's hatred of klingons is true.......
I don't think it's a case of a specific hatred.
From what I understand in his interviews there are things about Trek he likes and things he doesn't like. For example Ambassador, Constellation and appearently the K'vort. And his approach to STO is that what he doesn't like has no place in STO.
"but I don't really care about the Ambassador-class because it's an older ship right. I can't make a tier 5 Ambassador! Yeah we made a tier 5 Excelsior, but the Excelsior was so much cooler, so much more desired, so many more people wanted it and that's why we made a tier 3 & 5 version of it."
so it's not the KDF per se, its what happens when someone makes his decisions based on his personal preferences and little else.
At the very least with a new Bird of Prey allow for a K'Vort skin to be used.
It already has, its called B'rel.
All Bird of Prey's, regardless of class, that appear throughout the franchise all used the one and same studio model.
Only exception is the generic bird of preys in the CGI battles in DS9.

One studio model to rule them all! :P
I know their is a B'rel and it is same model but if their is a new Bird of Prey I want a option to use the same skin with only difference is the wings stay up in combat instead of lowering. I would like to fly more ships that actually look like STAR TREK ships not cryptics models.

/agree. Cryptics ship models have always and all been HORRENDUS , they look like lego models an 8 year old would make. Some arent even that.. they are merely kitbashed together-"im looking at you Klingon vet ship" Because Gecko.. who I guess...apparently doesnt care for klingons or their faction doesnt give a TRIBBLE.
Bottom line.. almost all of Cryptics ship models look the same and/or are kitbashed creations of rushwork done on lunch breaks and afterhours I'd rather be anywhere but here periods. Asking for the K'Vort is understandable.... but Gecko doesnt even want to consider it because he doesnt like it? Is that why the KDF faction is garbage and neglected? Because developers like Gecko dont like it? Wow.. I am actually mildly surprised they came out and admitted to that. Even if all along I knew it was true.

A lot of the devs are arrogant and dismissive of the fans. Geko is the worst and has terrible ideas to boot.
"With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censored, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably."
So... about the K'Vort... the Ambassador was specifically mentioned in the thread linked earlier as something that would never hit T5; we did indeed end up with access to a T5 version, as well as T3 and Fleet Ambassador variants. I may be an optimist, but maybe this indicates a willingness to change a point of view?

Yeah, that's right.
I sure hope that's not a fleet only release - god knows we could do with some c-store ships in general, and a c-store raptor in particular...
A Fleet ship that is not a Fleet-only-release? I think you're asking for a round square.
Well, you know, a c-store ship with a fleet version, like the Avenger was launched at the same time as the Fleet Avenger. It's been known to happen...
Wait, what? You're kidding, right?
I'm sure your DPS is great, but as Kahless said, "a petaQ with high system mastery is still a petaQ." (Well, he should have said it...!)
Wondering myself. If not, stats, please, perchance?
I'm not kidding.
