sorry sir, you are wrong... just because you didn't know about it doesn't mean it wasn't there.. I applaud the nop channel, and I am not trying to take away from it.. however, before the nop channel, there were several collaborations of fleets that were pooling their resources and helping others out.. just because they didn't come on the forums and parade the fact, doesn't mean they were not there..

nop just happened to be the first one that was broadcast heavily on the forums, where as the other channels were promoted from within game, and by word of mouth.

I for one had gotten free t5 invite from others long before I used nop. I use nop because it is more convenient now, besides for the 12 year old chat that goes on, its a pretty good place, and I recommend it to anyone.. however, they were not the first, and they are not the last..

the point of my argument wasn't to diminish those who work hard to maintain it, it was meant to say that just because you do something nice, doesn't give you the green light to act like an a**...

you should do research in the future before making outlandish statements... those channels are still there, and those channels while not widely used now, can still get you access, though it might be a little slower than nop's...

of course i would have known. as coleader of the only t5 fleet in the kdf, and a fleet that held exclusive availability to paid full-t5 holdings, i made it a point to know where each and every high-tier kdf fleet was in their development. i am the person that would negotiate with many of these fleets to maintain the paid-access status quo within the kdf. to claim that somehow/somewhere a free-access system was operating under my nose is laughable.
until the point that nop and snoo unlocked a t5 holding each and paired up to offer you free access, the sto community at large had no free access.

lol, no one said kdf.. sadly, most of the fleets that took part in the fleet collaborations I am talking about, well all, were federation.. again, I am not trying to take away from the fact that what nop does is great, stop trying to make me look like im trying to say they don't..

unfortunately, some of the people who represent that channel, and the fleets, think they get a free pass here and in ingame chat because they do something good.. that is all.. many of the people I have talked, who have helped me myelf in that channel have been super cool people.. but there are those rotten apples out there who tarnish the plaque of the good thing that is going on.

and no sir, you do not know everything that is going on in the game, most of the fleets that had open access within the collaborative channel were not pvp, and I know you care more for pvp than anything else in the game.. again, the people who ran the collaboration, didn't make it public knowledge on the forums.. but did help people who were looking.. I know, I was one of them.. I still do help those who ask. nothing has changed.. there was one fleet in the group that refused to have free access, and they are no longer apart of the group, said fleet still refuses free access, even with nop out there, which is kind of TRIBBLE if you ask me lol...

but fact-o-the matter is, there were fleets giving free access long before the nop channel, not that it means anything. my response was to nebreekis using it as a red cross shield. I did not mean to lessen what others who run it do, it was not my intent, and ill apologize to anyone who is ethical, has morals, helps run nop, and was offended..

im not refuting nop.. i respect what they do, it is a great thing. however, certain people who represent them, have taken to acting like they can say and do what they want, and when you call them out (as was done a few pages back in this thread) they say, well, im with (fleet), and they do this this and that for the community, so everyone should look the other way....

as far as naming the other fleets, that is not my place to do that without their permission.. they may not want to be linked to this, I have made mistakes in how I worded things in here, thus I kind of bit myself in the foot here. and to drag them down with me, well would suck.

the collaboration I speak of, was put together years ago, it was put together, with help from cryptic, to better understand at the time what players wants and needs were in a fleet system.. the fleet that ran it is one of the biggest fleets in the game, and as per their militaristic fashion of running the fleet and the collaboration, you had to go through a leangthy process to get added to the collaboration. the man who was essentially incharge of it, died about 2 years ago, and was honored in game by a lot of people from all the fleets in the group.

since then, another person stepped up and ran it.. The fleet I ran at the time, was the first federation fleet to hit t5, they are also the fleet that got let go of, as it would not offer its services for free to members of the channel. the channel we use was used long before the fleet holdings system, as a place for each fleet to find competent and friendly players to do stf's with. and when the fleet holding system was put in place, the different fleets pooled their resources, and helped eachother.. we leveled different holding on different fleets, since we would all have access to eachothers..

most fleets in this system, did allow others who would ask in who were not apart of the collaboration, but, like I said, we were not super public about it, not like nop. and I give them their props.. they do a good job for the most part.. I just wish that certain people wouldn't use it as a shield to act like a 12 year old on the forums, and in game..

again, i wont name or in the case of the fleet that got disgracefully removed, shame anyone.. if you do your forum research based on the story i just told, youll be able to figure out who these fleets are, it was very public back in the day. but like i said, i kind of messed up my wording, and things i was trying to express got expressed wrong. and i do not want to drag a good name into this mud fest i sorta created.. lol..

Excuse me but, my KDF fleet has been a full T5 fleet for several months now (with all 3 fleet holdings T3 for months before that). Obviously you don't know every single T5 KDF fleet out there yet. We've also complete each and every 200k dilithium vanity project for the starbase and all fleet holdings. It's the only KDF fleet I've ever been in and I have a few characters in it and joined it about October 2012, shortly before season 7 launched. Took us over a year to finally hit T5 everything on the starbase and I think it was T2 or T3 when I joined.

P.S. It isn't one of the fleets you mentioned.

Edit: And who the hell put you in charge of all KDF fleets? Who gave you sole authority to tell fleets what they can and can't do and that they have to charge people EC to gain access to fleet stores and ships? Nobody, that's who.

Maybe you're the reason nobody wants to play KDF and KDF only PVE queues are always empty. You drive people away with your stuck up behavior.

Or maybe you just have a coolant leak and your posterior is about to have a warp core breach. You should evacuate quickly to reduce the risk of casualties.

Lol calm down, genius. Neither you nor your fleet is relevant to this discussion. We're not talking a span of a few months. This was well over a year ago, and at the time, HOBO was the only KDF fleet to have hit T5. Snoo and NoP soon hit afterwards.

This was a hilariously defensive and hostile post to a conversation that had nothing to do with you in the slightest. Nice knee-jerk reaction. There are quite a few KDF fleets with T5/T3, but there was a time when there were less than a handful.

But, please, more personal attacks when none are needed. Let's get a few more hyperbolic comments like this:

"YOU are the reason nobody wants to play KDF."

Let's get some more indignation, some more overrreaction. It sustains us here in the DOOOOOOM thread.

If it was a personal attack it wasn't against you but you act like it was.

It was a hypothetical post. Maybe you need to lay off the ketracel white and stop stroking your tribble in public. Momma always said you'd go blind from it (the ketracel that is. tribble stroking just gives you the munchies).

of course we are talking about the kdf. the kdf has specifically been mentioned in every post you and i have made to one another in this thread. NoP is kdf fleet, and NoP initially offered t5 kdf access; the only free-access t5 kdf holdings available.

you said, 'there are tons of other fleets and groups, and groups of fleets who do just the same as what dental and its affiliates did, however, they do not need to prove themselves, and do not post on the forums looking for fandom'

i am telling you that you are wrong. nobody else was offering t5 kdf access.

are we talking about 'Public Service', the private public channel that mutes its inviters and drives off its members to the degree that the administrator needs an invite to the NoP spire for TAC consoles? the public service channel that was not only talked about in the forum, but had its own featured blog posted?

    puttenham wrote: »

of course you meant to. you have suggested that we 'post on the forums looking for fandom', demonstrate a 'need to prove' ourselves, maintained that 'there were fleets giving free access long before the nop channel', even though that isnt entirely accurate, and suggested that we are trolls.

stop trying to rewrite history. NoP Public Service is beyond any doubt the channel most disruptive of the status quo- ever. NoP PS did something the others could not manage to do; completely destroy the paid-access to fleet holdings and fleet ships, and did it as a grass-roots movement with no featured blog from cryptic and is now nearly 9000 members strong. stop trying to minimise that.

as both a member of the NoP channel admin and as a member of the fleet 'Nerds of Prey', i find it offensive that you are in this thread denigrating what i do simply because you have a beef with a fleet i am not even a member of.

Doom doom doom upon all of you who read this thread.

You will all experience immenient power failures on all your ships, even down to your still held tier one ships and shuttles. You will then loose life support on your ships and slowly see the crew go down one by one, until it is only you and your bridge officers left. You will then see each of their pictures fade out, until only your favorite bridge officer is left and you will then see their pictures replaced by skeletons. Then you will see your screen flicker in and out, until the static becomes complete and takes over your screen.

You will then see Kahn's face (the older one) appear on your screen and go through his monologue of awesome bad-a** villianyiness.

The screen will then fade back to normal, with everything restored.

But then, you're favorite Bridge officer will begin talking to you in a prompt, and as it goes further and further, you will see them slowly decompose, all skin, blood, muscle and such falling down, until only the bones are left... and then the final screen will have them fully restored and smiling sweetly at you and saying sorry Captain.

Then you will see a cutscene where you are on your bridge, and all your bridge officers are saluting you off and then unholy screams come over the comms from all over the ship and your bridge officers enter the command code for the self destruct and strap you down to your captain's chair and start chanting in an ancient dead language and then an image of yourself appears, and very dramatically, tells you you have failed the entire Galaxy as you finally see the Borg, Undine and a massive Iconian fleet loom over your planet on the viewing screen. You then see a cutscene outside where your ship begins to blow up from the engineering hull and spread across your ship, all in slow motion. Then, you switch to first person in your chair and watch as your ship blows up, the Undine, Borg and Iconian fleet destroy your home world.

Doom, doom, doom upon all retched souls who read upon this thread...

If you took this seriously... grow up. That, or we could have a competiton for a Halloween event and use this thread for that.:D

Okay, that would actually make for an awesome Halloween event, especially considering how attached I've grown to my BOffs.;)

Oh, wait, this is the doom thread? Sorry. :o*ahem*

    DOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

Seriously though, this thread is hilarious. I hope it never dies!:D

"O reader, do not ask me of how I
grew faint and frozen then - I cannot write it:
all words would fall far short of what it was.
I did not die, and I was not alive:
think for yourself, if you have any wit,
what I became, deprived of life and death."
