Cryptic, what did you break this time?

So, patched up the game today ready to play, and the game crashes on the Cryptic loading screen. After the crash, I get this:

http://i778.photobucket.com/albums/yy70/KojiroJames/wtf_zps1e875a22.jpg

CO, which also patched, gives me the same problem. (Incidentally, STO gave me this problem once before a couple months ago after a patch and was mysteriously working the following day.)

And don't give me that "disable on-demand patching" rubbish, because I already know that doesn't work.

Looks like either you or your ISP has an issue establishing a connection to the STO Servers. (as my connection from the Silicon Valley works fine...)

Try running the 'Net Test' and 'Trace Route' diagnostics described in this thread... http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=225155

... and post the results, as that will provide information on how healthy your connection to the STO servers are...

The Net Test diagnostic connects to a diagnostic server that is on the same local network as the STO servers, so any performance lag from the STO server itself is out of the picture here. This is only a network connection test...

When the Trace Route looks reasonable, (yours is on the borderline edge...) but the Net Test fails, the most probably cause is severe packet drop somewhere along your connection. From the looks, it seems to be along the Cogent Communication backbone, though the gateway between Qwest and Cogent can't be ruled out...

In either case, its a ISP issue. You can try complaining to Qwest, (your ISP) and see if they can do something about it...

You can also try using the Proxy setting in the options menu of the Launcher, as sometimes this helps, sometimes it does nothing, or makes things worse, but it doesn't hurt to try... (And use of the Proxy should only be considered a temporary solution at best)

So, was there a resolution? I have this exact same problem. I was connected and everything was fine. Got off for dinner and when I got back on it gives me the error above. I uninstalled and reinstalled using Arc (though I hate doing something new when trying to solve a problem - but I didn't have a choice), so I am pretty sure it is not on my end.

Also I can connect to Neverwinter without a problem, and that is the same server, yes?

So, this is happening to me again. I can't start either STO or CO after the latest patches. It seems like every other patch or so messes up the damn game for me and I have to wait a day or two for the damn things to connect. Honestly, why the **** is Cryptic's coding so ****ing screwed up??

Just got off from STO myself for a food break... Haven't had any issues today on Holodeck, Tribble on the other hand, I've had some crashes trying to go to the new Fleet Spire holdings...

So what does your 'Net Test' and 'Trace Route' results look like this time????

Looks like in addition to a possible issue with the Qwest gateway to the Cogent Communications backbone, the Cogent backbone itself is having some issues today...

You should post these results in the Network section of the PWE Tech Support site, so that PWE Tech people know about this and can kick Cogent a few more times with this to try to get this fixed...

    http://techsupport.perfectworld.com/

You can also try using the US Proxy option in the Launcher, as this may (or may not...) help your condition, but at best, should only be considered as a temporary work-around for the problem...

Also if a thread hasn't been responded too (even if it's yours) after 30 days, please open a new thread and not continue the old one.
