I am happy to hear that devs have plans for the future (and voted ds9)
but would be far more pleased to see data management issues taken care of before that
You took a prototyping development strategy, why not...
as this disable a real quality management, we, players, are the one doing the testing
finding bugs you are abble to fix and you do so
Problem still is that those software bugs induce data corruptions that does not seems
to be adressed
Since LOR started, I build a reman and a romulan and both are bugged:
bad reverse pointers lists mainly, for the ground status screen list of current ships and boffs
and for the outfits list filled up with extra outfits and uniforms far beyond character's
normal allocation.
That lowers my confidence in the game stability so much that I don't dare to buy the scimitar
or use all my allowance of outfits completely, leaving an open slot just in case
If background data maintenance checking is a too big and too complicated process to run,
at least give us tools to fix things as an outfits delete button for example
or a rebuild list button with an associated save list button...
Now perhaps Devs have no access to these matters, all depends on Cryptic's organisation:
if systems engineers are in the production dept and engine specialists are in another dept,
maybe Devs have no rights to adress directly data base issues for their game, only to write next
season or event build using available engine functions and primitives
If this is the case please forward this post to system, database and engine specialists depts
What that guy said and make sure to update the Federation story.
Voted DS9 because there needs to be a playable Cardassian faction or if not that a playable Dominion faction. I haven't finished the DS9 themed season yet, would have liked to before commenting, its up for vote now though. I want to be able to visit Cardassia as well, like we are able to visit Bajor.
"Critics who say that the optimistic utopia Star Trek depicted is now outmoded forget the cultural context that gave birth to it: Star Trek was not a manifestation of optimism when optimism was easy. Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them." -Thomas Marrone
A friend of mine suggested the Vaadwaur which I actually like the sound of.
I find that highly unlikely. The 600 Vaadwaur that Voyager found were in stasis for over 800 years. The technology they has was nearly obsolete compare to the contemporary ships. Only 50 of their fighters escaped into the tunnels. But those subspace tunnels may be the plot device that get's whomever the threat then into the Alpha quadrant.
also, i would like to add i do like this game. it's the only one i've ever spent money on, but the rep grind is driving me crazy!! i've made 9 toons. it's hard enuff to 'rep' up one toon.
a game i played b4 this one was called 'X'. i would like to see some missions similar to that game for reputation. for those that don't know, missions could include assassinations, which btw could lose you some rep too, or 'please find my stolen ship missions, all the way to aid the planet type missions, that will all gain you reputation with a particular faction. but for the love of sto, please stop adding rep grinds!! missions to help the current rep grinds appreciated though
Don't know why it says i'm an ARC user. i will never use that TRIBBLE Cryptic!
Cryptic , from the last poll, did content from the 2nd most voted idea.
DS9 content here we come :(
I'm not too pleased with that either. We have enough DS9 stuff in game as it is and I'm not too hot on Voyager stuff.
However...I've always been supportive of Cryptic doing polls to find out what the playerbase wants. So even if the outcome of the polls is something that I personally don't want, I'm going to support it since Cryptic is doing exactly what I (and others) have asked: let the players decide. It's kind of complicated that way lol. :P
More uniforms and gear Eg. Andorian, Vulcan and bajoran armour and shields etc. and we need some bajoran ships and where are the denobulans it would be cool to have a replica of the class of ship known as ss Emmette from the enterprise opening credits over lunar colony

VOTE ANYTHING OTHER THAN DS9
LOL alert
Hopefully I'll come back from my break; this break is fun; I play intellectual games.
Heh, indeed. Can't go wrong with new content. And I voted for ENT!
You sir ... have made my day!
VOTE(d) ENTERPRISE
I would support cryptic whatever they do ...
That said, I am less inclined because of the Odyssey Escort Visual Bug (breaks the game for me ... massively), but I am told that it is in the works ... one hopes ...
Hopefully I'll come back from my break; this break is fun; I play intellectual games.
Very disappointing at all. Just more of the same stuff in new costumes. Trek is lost in this game. I think we have to move along - there is more trek out there.
Can we blame Cryptic, if it appears that the "majority" of STO's playerbase just wants to play Barbie 'n Ken in Space? It's why the game is in the state that it is...Cryptic giving the apparent majority of the players what they want.
As for how the poll is going, well - I wish I could say that was mind-boggling...but if you take a look at where TV has gone in general with recent generations, it unfortunately makes sense.
No doubt, there were more races/species mentioned in VOY than any other series - more unique races/species that made an appearance or were mentioned in VOY. And...somewhere down the road, that would be something awesome to tap into in...
There were 143 unique races/species that made an appearance or were mentioned during VOY - more than double the next closest series.
TOS had 33 unique.
TNG had 71 unique.
DS9 had 55 unique.
ENT had 38 unique.
That's 197 unique races/species that made an appearance or were mentioned. 197 > 143.
STO needs to show some more love to flesh out TOS/TNG/DS9/ENT...before moving on to VOY (if they want to wait until I grow old and die, that would be perfectly fine for me as well).
Let me be clear here, I'm biased - but I don't place VOY as the worst series.
TOS > TNG > VOY > ENT > DS9 would be the way I rank them.
Even though I rank ENT and DS9 before VOY, I can't deny that it would be more logical (imho) to cover more from ENT and DS9 before heading out to VOY.
And yes, for those that might have paused for a moment...that's 340 unique races/species mentioned through the five series.
I would love to see the Sphere Builders become a major enemy.
Although STO hasn't reached the time period that the Federation is supposed to have it's war with them, you could easily write in a change in the Builder's plans. They already know the past and future, and could decide to 'step up' their next attempt to alter our space.
This opens the door for new gear (ships and personal gear) designed to keep your player alive in altered space. You have a lot of room story wise to work within to build STFs, queable dailies, episodes and red alerts/random events. Maybe a Xindi tech reputation system!?
You can add the playable Xindi species (Aboreals and primates for Fed, Reptillians and Insectoids for KDF). You can add each of the different types of Xindi ship (Imagine flying an Aquadic vessel!). Etc etc.
As a special Romulan faction only species, it would be neat to have a Suliban toon. Though that would require some customization to the story line so I understand why that may not be possible.
I have a question and a final comment as well:
-I was thinking of getting a life time sub, but I looked at the veteran ships and noticed there are only 9 console slots. Will there ever be 10? This makes them undesirable and I doubt I would fly one if I got lifetime status. Also, do liberated toons not have neural blast? Why? Another thing that makes me hesitate to buy the life time sub.
Lastly, I'm disappointed that their is no romulan science vessel with a tac focus. I was hoping that was what the TNG Sci vessel would be. (I've posted a thread about potential builds for it elsewhere). I really want a smaller Romulan sci ship with a tac focus and an interesting sci-dmg console. You have the Eng with tac focus ships, why no sci? Where's the love?
state of the game?
passing chance for real progression by ignoring pvp and widening the gap in releasing op and broken stuff.
cryptic, plz give us something. and if just we can keep the faith and u can hold up the illusion
While it is completely understandable that they want to grow their playerbase, and one of the ways to do that is to lower the bar continuously by continuously adding in more gear/passives/etc to allow even the most casual of gamers to be the hero in the same old content...
...and there's no doubt that it appears to be succeeding for them. One can see it in the game - one can see it on the forums...and...for an average gamer like myself, it is pretty damn depressing.
I'm going to stop here, because I can't think of any way to continue that does not result in a plethora of insults that will quickly degrade into a miasma of trolling/flaming. Hrmm, no - I will say this...
Dear Cryptic,
You have players that want to face the challenge presented by fighting other players in PvP. You have players that want to face the challenge presented by NPC encounters that are more than just monster farms in PvE. You have players that want their greatest challenge to be deciding which boots best go with whatever costume they're thinking about wearing today.
You have all of those players. If you don't want two of those groups to hang around, then just be straightforward with them - so you don't waste their time and so you don't have to hear them complaining day in and day out.
You want me to wish for something i want from the series into the game?
Its obvious: ALL Enterprise era ships and the coresponding weapones (and a choice to fly them for the low lvl captains instead of the ships we have now ... but pls not zen again but free as a choice (like the klingon getting the old raptor the old bird of prey and their d7 or even the d4) feds obviously old vulcan science ship the enterprise (as an escort) or the miranda as cruiser) roms ok thats hard (giving their not realy ent era ships exept the once shown in ST Legacy but one could think about retro looking versions of the new ships your criptic your good at making ships old and new!)
As well as for my personal wish for a battlecarrier in the fed ranks: GIVE US THE TYPHON FROM INVASION (sry for caps but its a ship that would fit well into the 24. century and even as dreadnougt class for the feds)

All of the low level ships should be free. On average I can easily gain 1 rank a day without much work especially after you get duty officers. That simply means its not worth paying $10 to $20 for a ship.

from looking at the poll and the information that they have given us, i think i know what the next lock box is going to be. the delta quadrant lock box featuring the Dauntless class as the main prize. some kind of delta mini doff packs, ect. I just hope they do something other then just mirror ships that we already have as secondary prizes.
Yes Liberated Borg players can select Neural blast as a trait, veteran ship has 9 consoles because the Special console is 2-in-1 and they do not share a cooldown with each other but a Fleet Veteran ship with 10 console spots for veterans would be nice to have

C-store ships are account bound so any future character you make can also use that ship along with its special console which you can remove and stick on another ship as long as it meets any requirements for the specific console. C-store ships are not necessary to level up but you have the option to purchase one for your account if you so choose.
and jumpingjs if i could have voted twice ENT would have been my second choice had to go with voyager though as it was my personal favorite
Hi thanks for the game update. I am a new player just started playing today and I am addicted now and I am looking forward to all the new features to come. Thanks for a great game!
I hope we explore more of the Voyager contacts made in the Delta quadrant! It is the most true form of boldly going where no one has gone before....that's what Star Trek is all about!
Feh, no word on PvP. About what we expected, really.
Cryptic has zero reason to NOT improve PvP, really. They don't even have to make the uber-casual players engage in it, just give PvPers options, and develop the PvP in the game. Give us rewards (including removing that idiotic rotation system on the PvP missions), more maps, more scenario modes, maybe a tier system to help separate the uber-skilled players from the inexperienced players.
They're too busy just giving more shinies to players with big wallets to improve on things that have needed improvement for a long time.
