Waste of a night, try waste of a day! I've been TRIBBLE around with this and waiting since 4:30 pm EST, now it's 9:pm. This is becoming a weekly event with this game. Wasn't the LAST 3 "emergency maintenance" updates suppose to kept this kind of thing from exactly happening?!
We will be bringing down Star Trek Online in 15 minutes for emergency maintenance -- we expect this maintenance to only last for 1.5 hours. The test server may also be unavailable during this time.
The goal of this maintenance is to resolve the launcher issues players have been experiencing, errors when logging in, general performance improvements and the missing additional Gold Member character slot.
I remember a few years ago playing a MMO and after a large expansion. You hit play and it would delete some important windows system files. Had to reinstall Windows. That would ruin your play night.
Eve Online and the missing boot.ini .... Epic. The tears. The fallout. Just epic.
The QQ in this forum is fricken hilarious. I was able to get in and play my way to level 10 (just about to choose my side before the server came down), and i log in here to see this.

Fortunately the psychological value of these forums is overwhelmingly productive and useful for those who may be depressed or feeling under-spirited. I know if I start to think to myself "Maybe I am not the smartest individual in the world", all i have to do is log on here and read just a few posts, and my feeling of intelligence shoots way up. So the way I see it, the more of these panic-stricken souls who freak out on the forums that post - the better - because it helps those who need a boost in their self esteem

I've been in software development for a while and I don't possible see how it could take over an hour(and I'm sure it'll get extended). 10 minutes to reset, 10 minutes to install new codebase to the RC, 10 mins to verify stability.
30 min coffee break? Maybe I come from a different philosophy of customer service, but anytime we have a go-live we have all our engineers on board to correct any unforeseen issues. If I told my clients that it was going to take 6 hours to recognize the problem, then 2 hours to update the interface I wouldn't have a job.
By your own admission, you're a software developer, not a server/services engineer. Best let them do what they need to do as they know what they're dealing with and you haven't a clue.
This is honestly Bs people have paid you alot of money for this expansion and you didnt take the damn time to even fix the bugs tribble ran the expansion better then this did you even take the damn time to fix the bugs no you didnt I even told a dev of all the bugs and right now I think the beta test was a damn joke fix the damn game and do it now you need to be down for 3 hours instead of one bs bs bs bs or your going to lose alot of people that have poured their hard earn money into it space sets are broken hell the damn game at this is unplayable you better fix it or you will have the fury of public down your throat -_-

maybe you guys should cap the amount of exchange hits we get. there's no reason why we need to see all 2400+ master key listings. think of how much bandwidth and processing power you guys could be saving.

I think that is a lovely update if what you say is true and I'll explain why.
If you search for a bridge officer candidate such as science, you'd end up with a full 400 results with the first half being mostly KDF boffs. If you were more specific and searched for a species such as an Andorian sci boff you'd get........a full 400 reults.
For me, when searching for a boff candidate in the exchange, I usually don't care what species it is because I need it for a certain skill to train one of my commissioned boffs. It gets annoying having to search species by species because of the limited mostly KDF results.
I look forward to getting in game and seeing all the new changes. I'd rather click "Next Page" in the exchange a couple dozen times to find a boff I need than typing in 1 species at a time.
Bravo & +1 to you sir for stating this....I completely agree with you....the problems have been told to them by the users....now it's up to them to solve it....and as of 8:57pm EST it's still not solved !!!
They wouldn't do that because it makes sense & it something they should have done a long time ago....but then again when has Cryptic/PWE ever done anything that made sense....imho Vesta Pack blown chance at giving Sci Captains a true ship to work with, Andorian Pack....lol a joke of an escort...just further proves that Cryptic/PWE CAN NOT get past the total of 8 weapon slots that they claim they can....lol Also funny how a T5 "Fleet" ship in the Sci Class can't get past the 3 - 3 weapon set up nor get some true hull strength....yet serve up a TRIBBLE cake (Vesta) with console icing to cover up the TRIBBLE.
Wake up folks.....when is the players of this game going to actually start to unite & demand more & better for your money....we hold the power...no $$$...no game...no game....no job for them....
So Cryptic/PWE...get your TRIBBLE sorted out & start doing things right for a change instead of the constant "We're Sorry" BS line you serve up for every mistake you made that could have been avoided....
I am a Legacy Pack & LTM owner....interesting fact that right now you have key sales, LTM Sales & Legacy/Starter pack sales....all to cover your costs yet the service or product isn't/doesn't get better....and we have a major TRIBBLE up on day 1 from the 1st second....and 6hrs into it still nothing solved....yet you want our money.....Hmmm...interesting.
For all those people currently complaining that Cryptic have wasted their day/night/ruined their life etc allow me to get out the world's tiniest violin for you all!

I had 2 minute sector/zone times (not responding - 90 seconds) and the like...
but not once did i get disconnected or was unable to complete anything
Honestly I think the people here complaining are seriously forgetting MMO 101, the first day of a new game or major expansion is always like this.
