With the approach of Legacy Of Romulus coming with a months time, i had to ask: What are the feds getting? Romulans are getting their own stories and ships and such as well as those of their chosen faction. Klingons are getting more (much needed) story missions as well as two c-store ships. But aside from that... What are the romulans doing for us? Granted there is the Romulan Rep system, but that's a rep system and really shouldn't count as a perk since we have to grind and pay for things from people we aren't allied too (tholians: Coming Soon).
Will the fed and KDF sides be getting anything useful from the romulans? Will maxing my RR captain's level unlock something cool for my other factions? Will my Rom Rep'd defiant be getting a better cloak or a Singularity drive? The Romulans benefit from my fed captains by unlocking remans as well as using our ships and starbases, but what is being offered in return?
What benefits to this alliance are the two existing factions getting?

When you max your Romulan Rep, you do get to unlock the Reman playable character race. This can happen on one character from any of the existing factions... like now, on Holodeck, I am currently in the process of maxing my Fed Tac character's Romulan Rep just for the Reman playable character unlock. However, you can buy the race from the Store if you want.
You can also par take in romulan missions, so really.. in some reguard new missions for federation or klingons to get involved with. If i recall correctly that this is indeed possible.

Well, you can't launch them on your own and Feds get no rewards for it aside from XP.
But to answer the bigger question?
Feds (and everyone else) get Nimbus, Nukara Prime rep, and a UI overhaul.
And unless it changes, tons of new options for Romulan and Reman Bridge Officers who, last I checked, Feds could commission.
Feds get the Wasteland Storyline Arc at Nimbus III, Federation-allied Romulan members, and Tholian reputation at Nukara (for 5, 10, 15 Tholian Marks).
If Cryptic could make one announcement directed towards Federation Players which would make so many people happy, and allow them to put this particular issue to rest of an update without Fed Content:
- For the Legacy of Romulus update, all cruisers in-game will have their stats adjusted to allow for 25% higher turnrates, and their BOff layouts adjusted to tactically bring them in-line with Escorts.
All Cryptic has to do is this...and the joy throughout the Federation community would be overwhelming!

I'm thinking maybe pancakes." ~ John Casey
rather have the feds not get anything more honestly, compare the feds to the kdf recently as far as content goes and the latter is woefully lacking, if kdf gets on par with the feds before long both will have to wait on the romulans to get their share of content, then they can focus on other things.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.

I feel really left out ... Romulans will be fun ... but I wanted FED content
and now FED content is going to be dwarfed by AWESOME ROM content.
I AGREE WITH YOU
Hopefully I'll come back from my break; this break is fun; I play intellectual games.
Just because there won't be much new stuff for Feds on May 21st doesn't mean you won't get that in the following weeks. I don't mind that for once there's a focus on Klingons and Romulans only.
I believe they have said a few times there isn't anything just for feds. there is new content accessible by the 2 factions and their new add on buddies, the romulans. so that could be just the tholian reputation.
in all honesty if fed players can't handle that then they are being rather selfish. kdf have waited long enough and so have romulans.
KDF gets new missions because they were previously deprived of those missions. This isn't giving the KDF something that the Feds don't have, this is the long-delayed equality between the factions. This is giving the KDF something that Feds have had since launch.
And as mentioned several times, Federation players will have a new Tholian reputation and a new adventure zone to play with. It's not like existing characters have to go without any new content at all.
This expansion is primarily about Romulans. I know that's pretty hard to suss out, being that the name is "Legacy of Romulus" instead of something obvious. LOR is an expansion to add a new playable faction, a dozen new ships, amazing new maps, and the best campaign they've written so far, and all people can say is "Well, what do I get?"
The KDF has been neglected for so long they are getting a much needed rework and someone asked what the Fed's are getting? Some of you remember not long after the game was released they put up a poll asking about the next playable faction and that is what the Fed players voted for, so you see everyone is getting something they wanted. So come the 21st everyone is a winner.

let us have our moment while it lasts!!
Even if they haven't explicitly said that, I feel it must be re-emphasized that we already know Fed players (such as myself, although I admit I might shift towards Romulan) will be getting a fairly significant amount of new content (new UI, new mission series, warp cores, the anti-Tholian reputation...). What it appears we won't get - and frankly I've no problem with this, given how neglected the KDF appeared to be to me and the fact that we'll get a Romulan half-faction - is Federation-specific content.
Wow! Really? Given the massive disparity between the UFP and KDF gameplay and options someone really has to ask? Well as others have posted more playability in some enhanced elements and the option to play a Rommie.
If all goes well the KDF will be only two or three degrees short of the UFP side all things considered and that is the best possible situation. Of course now Team Green will be the redheaded stepchild for a while.

Grow up. KDF hasn't had 1-50 content for the last three years. Now that they are getting what the Fed players have had since launch, you think your entitled playerbase needs to be compensated? As for two new ships, well shall we do a headcount of ship choices between all other factions combined verse the federation ship count? Bet you its pretty close and Feds still have more.
BTW Romulans don't benefit from your having a character that unlocks Remans. YOU benefit from that.

Given that the Federation still makes up the majority of the player base and, lets be frank, not even the majority of Federation players are going to be interested in switching whole hog to a different faction, it's a valid question.
I'm over the moon that they're adding Romulans, but this game lives and dies on the Federation player base.
Can I actually say that I think that we need something for everyone, we need the option to play online on the server or offline on our own after a download. People with slow connections or on the move would really benifit from this
Wow this troll gets 5 stars. No content for KDF for 3 years! They finally get a few missions and Roms get put in and you complain. Go do Nimbus, or new rep grind or roll a toon on other faction. There is tons to do except that for 1 season it is not Fed centric.

As for the rest, I guess we'll have to see what happens in May when the content releases.

Fed can survive one update not being specifically about them.

Facepalms all around.
What he said, now go get to your corner and stay there till we say you can come out.
Guess you Feddies will have to learn how to share developer attention with other factions.
