I notice Dan's answered the Doff question a couple times, but I think he missed an important point.
Will we be using our ally's Doffs and Boffs?
If I am allied with Fed, and I go to the exchange to get some new doffs, am I buying the ones with the Federation logo behind their heads, or will I be getting ones with a Romulan logo?
How is 40 levels of Romulan-specific content, Romulan/Reman captains, unique uniforms and 50 levels of unique ships the same as what you said?
What you describe is nowhere nears the same as what we are getting. My Romulans may never deal with their allies at all, unless I decide to do so at endgame. That, to me, is a true faction.
I think so too, though I'm still a bit hesitant about ship-sharing. There's an inherent identity crisis involved that players will have to deal with--who were otherwise hoping to partake in a truly unique Romulan faction.
To set the record straight, we expect Romulans to be around level 40 when they complete their exclusive storyline AND the Romulan Feature Episode series. What we're ending up with is exclusive episodes for FED/ROM/KDF that culminate in the Romulan Feature Episode series. From that point forward, everyone starts to head into both the additional Feature Episode Series and current End Game content.
I am curious how this effects the layout of Federation Missions? while I don't remember the specific place in the Federation storyline, The Romulan Featured Episodes are not at what I would call the end of the Federation progression. Will we be seeing a reshuffling of Federation story missions?
The ship in that screen is the ship that I upgraded to after joining the Republic Fleet and reaching level 11. It is exclusive to the Romulan Republic. There will be a blog later that goes over the ships and details. There will be a variety of Rom Republic ships at end game, it isn't just D'Deridex only. Most of the ships you fly in the Republic will have End Game versions.
Ahhh, my Fleet Scimitar Carrier with it's Elite D'deridex pets can't wait to launch !:D
If anything, I think you guys can see just how many people are passionate about the faction and the things we feel it's lacking, or how different it is to what we were hoping for.
That is why i'm in the thread listening instead of finishing the Klingon mission I should be working on, because I am listening to the viewpoints and we do discuss the feedback. Sometimes there isn't much we can do, but in some cases we do consider what we could alter.
This was actually at the request of others because when I post deep into threads like this, very few if any people see my responses. By having my responses on page one, people who come in later will see the additional Q&A. Sorry - it is a little weird, but it helps keeps my responses together.
I personally like that your responses are grouped together. It gives new readers to the thread the knowledge you will be posting responses in that spot. I typically watch twitter dev tracker so I don't have to dig to see what the devs are saying on the forums. Beats having to guess if there is a comment on page 15 or 34 or 55 etc.

And there we have it, Klingon ladies and gentlemen: You're getting new mission content.
If the rommies can fly their own ships and faction ships it will be a 2 faction game.
FED V RomFed.
Waits for groups will be shorter FED side
Greater selection of Cstore ships to choose from
More KDF ships have cloak but Rommies already have that
Far more T5 (or close to) starbases FEd side to choose from
Aside from RP reasons I cant see many going RomKDF
I cant see how they can change allowing Rommies to double dip at this point of development either.
Along those lines could you make a one time offer to transfer bound items from my KDF toon to my RomFed

What does this mean?
Btw, great Freudian slip: "Romulans (of either faction)..."
Good catch, so much for "Romulans are a faction"
[SIGPIC]Join Date: August 2009[/SIGPIC] I live in an alternate universe, where j.j. abrams and cryptic never existed,
where R.S.E. is what it always should be.
My take on it is the way its being explained works for me. I might sound impossible to please at some points but what I am looking for as far as improving the game is...
#1. Better functionality of the intrepid ablative cloak for 10 seconds of time and a huge cd its falling behind on the mold.
#2. When the changes were made with pets in this game the multi vector and photonic fleet seems redundant since they hardly do any damage and this needs some attention.(#1 and #2 most of these are main attractions of these ships but they just nothing more than distractions to an enemy and do not provide any use of actual tactics.)
#3. Two things with the KDF that need to be revamped that weren't stated in LoR is the B'rels function of the Enhanced Battle Cloak is just a buzzing mosquito but won't do much as far as how you weight the pro's vs cons with this ship the cons out weight the pros which also negate any need for a lot of powers and federation only things that Cryptic sells.
The other thing is most races are melee users in the Klingon Empire but the bat'leth is only one of many weapon types we have available so a small percentage of melee weapons and virtually no ritual type weapons.
Lastly I love how the LoR will be implemented I would just say though if Cryptic Studios is going to be doing mostly starfleet ships, Klingon oriented design ships, and Romulan oriented design ships there should be more missions that revolve around tasks like raiding, recon, etc which we don't have much of at end game or any at all(for raiding the mission where you attack the federation outpost/shipyard after destroying the dewitt is something I'd like to see at an end game level).

Post a Link to the Dev Tracker, going back to an old page has made it difficult to follow your posts.

To be honest, I think having you in threads like this responding directly to people goes a very long way, I know it does for me. I think you're right when you said that people can get carried away with speculation on things they don't know, and having a dev voice in to discuss things does a lot to curb that. I realize the klingon mission might take longer to get done, but I think it helps the community as a whole more.

We are significantly shuffling the KDF episode flow, and we may end up doing the same to the Feds, but it really boils down to how challenging it can be to move things around, especially to existing players. It is easier for the KDF because we are filling in missing levels and it makes sense to drop level requirements and move others. For example the Devidian series along with the other FE series are now much later in KDF progression.
The key point is "exclusive" missions. FED/KDF/ROM will now have exclusive series tabs that no other faction has at least up to the Romulan FE series. From that point forward, most of the missions are now becoming shared for anyone (which is why you're seeing us start to open up some of the Cardassian missions for KDF (and Roms will get these too).
This allows us to establish a unique perspective for each of the 3 factions on the Iconian plot and then converge all of the "what comes next" into future FE series that will take place and be playable by all factions.

Much needed improvements to the flow of things, and I'm excited to see the new system in action. I can imagine with all of these different "perspectives" going on, keeping tabs on who knows what and when will be more important than ever now that there's going to be some convergence in the late game.

Great, people were concerned that the only new KDF mission content would be those tweaked Fed missions !
Can we get an in-depth explanation as to why Romulans are getting other factions' ships from a business standpoint? I'd like to know why that decision was made.
Are you worried about angering the customers who've already spent so much money on C-Store ships? Because if this is the case, I can all but guarantee you that wouldn't have been an issue; no one with any sense is going to expect their Federation purchases to be valid for KDF, so I wouldn't imagine they'd expect that of Romulans.
Are there just not enough Romulan ships to provide a meaningful amount of Fleet ships at endgame? If not, why not just out Ship Team on that as a priority post-release and flesh out Romulan C-Store and Fleet offerings at the same time?
This while sharing ships things just rubs me the wrong way. I know you had some kind of business reason to do it, but I don't think it would have been too much of a gamble to do something with a little more... flavor-integrity; KDF don't fly Fed ships, Feds don't fly KDF ships, Roms shouldn't fly or be flown by either.

I shouldn't have posted that, it was a gross exaggeration of my point and unfair to Dan and the rest of the cryptic team, I'm not going to try and excuse it, it was unfair. My apologies to Dan and the rest of the Cryptic team for that.
While I do think the romulan faction is somewhat lacking in places, I admit we are getting far more than my post implied. Really, give us our own fleets and I'd be able to deal. I don't like the ship sharing, but if we had our own fleets I could learn to deal with it. Fleet gameplay is just a huge part of the game to me.
Oh! Here's a question I'm not sure has been asked: Will there be new music added to the game for the Romulans?
Yes please.... new music throughout the game. I typically play other music from other games/sources. STO music after 3 years has gotten old. I do like some of the new stuff that has been added in the last year but the Klingon opera is deafening.

I can't see how I will feel like a Romulan when my endgame content includes missions like this:
"Enemy forces attack a Federation colony! Starfleet arrives to rescue the colonists, while the Klingon Empire hopes to capture valuable prisoners and information!"
I guess I can then help defend Starbase 24.
Honestly, I'd rather just scan rocks on New Romulus.

You know we've been expecting that kind of answer for some time. It's good to know, and definitely an interesting change. I'm glad to learn that there are some unique episodes, even if it's not all what the game is about.
So, you're listening to feedback. Ok. Is the allied faction ship something you can't do anything about? I'm not asking if you're going to do something, but if you could if you would like to.
So how much of this new Romulan content will be locked into the new rep system ? I'm still disappointed about all that new content locked into the new romulus season that I can't play because I chose not to pay into the rep system.

Now that Fed-Roms get access to all Fed endgame ships/tech/endgame content as well as their own...
And, with KDF-Roms getting access to the majority of all KDF endgame ships/tech/endgame content as well as their own...
...what will be the point, now, to make a new Fed or KDF character, when Roms get all the benefits of Fed/KDF too?
Ninth Fleet - 20 years, from SFC2:EAW to STO and still going strong...
The audio department is looking into it, but right now they're swamped trying to get all the VO done.
