Romulan faction! Wheeeee!

IF this is legit, what do you guys reckon will be specials for each ship, and what shiptypes do you reckon they will release?

Frankly i hope all romulan ships gets battle cloaks and a way more efficent cloak then klinks. And most of all i WANT that shield inversion beam on the D`deridex warbird.

    It doesn't state that it's a Romulan faction. :)

    It could be a continuation of the Romulan/Reman storyline - given that S8's supposed to be a major story - new adventure zone - invasions - etc, etc, etc...

    ...it could just be the Tal Shiar backed by the Iconians going to war with New Romulus as well as the KDF/Feds for supporting them.

    That being said, the Romulan cloaks should be superior to the KDF cloaks (unfortunately). This may simply be a case of more ships having BCs or EBCs rather than regular cloaks.

    You'd be looking at a combination of potential Romulan, Reman, and Hirogen... and...

    There's just not enough there. Honestly, just not enough there.

    It would have to be a major expansion adding all sorts of things even to get it anywhere near what the KDF have much less the Feds...

    My guess is Sci Cloaked vessels. It a niche KDF doesn't have and would fit Romulans.

    Theres not much there to say a faction, and with all the interviews saying that its unlikely any further playable factions coming in 2013 I would says its either another zone or story branch.

    5 months to may they have created a faction I doubt that way to quick, there would be any content for it shame but I don't think so.

    Well it would be a little odd to add another faction, when KDF does miss half the content.... on the other hand, I like romulans. More cloaked ships in pvp means more stealth detection for my nebula :D the klingons are using alien tech too much atm and BoPs are as scarse as a science ship with science captain.

    He came back shortly earlier this month, but then he left again.

    Anything that gets old school players back into the game is worth it.

    Hah, turns out the D'deridex is Com Tac, LTC/LT Sci, LT/ENS Eng 7 turn rate cruiser with 5 Eng, 3 Sci, 2 Tac consoles.
    If you feel Keel'el's effect is well designed, please, for your own safety, be very careful around shallow pools of water.

    hopping they just start it out at level 50. it would mean not having to need more then tier 5 ship for them to make.

    my guess is the D'd will be battle cruiser like, turn better then something it size should (8-10) and have something like the galor's station setup

    the big escort thing from nemisis will proboly be like the breen ship, a destroyer type big fat escort

    the bop will proboly be like the defiant

    and the scimitar will be a carrier type, guessing commander tactical, the rest of the stations eng and sci

    wouldn't be surprised if they make a dedicated sci ship too. oh and everything has battle cloaks. also maybe higher then average shield mods but lower hull hp.

    I hope they allow defections, Xeve would do well in a Romulan Sci oriented EBC BoP.

    This is a good assesment. What about special consoles for romulan ships?

    I believe it will be a romulan faction....

    However it won't be free.

    Expect it to be a P2P faction. Likely it will cost north of $30 to unlock one romulan toon slot.... the base ship will likely be a terribly speced 100 year old romulan warbird... with everything thats any good being another $20+ off the cstore.

    Cryptic can keep there greedy ways.... I have real faith that I will get to play a real romulan faction when some other dev has the licence 10+ years from now. :) lol

    I will certainly be there!

    I really hope that this is the case. But, come to think about it, Cryptic would have come out and said it was not the case, by now, seeing how excited everyone is.

    I only want to go on record saying that I have lost count of the number of times Devoras has screamed with joy on OPvP about the Romulan content that will hit in May. But with a name like "Devoras," who can blame the guy? Just kidding my friend. All this Romulan stuff is great news, on a more serious note. :D

    If true, we really need some sort of unified queue system. FvF, FvR, FvK, RvK, RvR, KvK is too much and would seriously split the community.

    This is a really good point actually. I wonder if they will work some kind of "alliance" idea into game, where Romulans could play as Romulans--perhaps even with unique story content--but then ultimately choose which of the two sides in the conflict they want to join. Given the fragmentary and fragile nature of the Romulan Empire at the moment, it wouldn't be surprising to see splinter groups joining separate factions. Just a thought. This would also solve the problem hurleybird describes above.

    Not nessecarily. It will encourage more people to join and creates a healthy diversity then the stale fed vs klink. A third faction will create more excitement.

    Even better! This will too grant Cryptic a chance to make a pvp map in a similar fashion how WvWvW works in GW2. Only here it would be RvKvF. Add in cap points to defend and attack, and score X kills.

    Do you have any IDEA how FUN and a new revitalized boost that will give pvp? Im climaxing by the thought alone!

    That actually sounds exciting. Imagine Capture and Hold... :)

    If the Romulan faction is done and is a resounding success, I'm hoping Cryptic might also implement the idea of a Dominion playable faction. (Dominion players are isolated in the Gamma Quadrant until level 40 or so, then can rejoin the Alpha Quadrant. More territory would be available for high ranking Fed/KDF/Rommie players)

    i would not be surprised if a 3rd faction was the death of faction ques. do we really think they would go to the trouble of making all the que types? and if they did, could we even fill them so half of them ever had games pop?

    Nevermind found the video.

    Though rumor says it may be a great update for the KDF to move toward completion with the start of the RSE finally begining. It may even have an adventure zone for the two factions.

    Only the Devs know for sure.......
