It looks like a cross between Starfleet and Vulcan ship design, which is actually something I can get behind.
That said, it could still use quite a bit of work. There's a tendency for a lot of artists these days to incorporate "hooded" designs in their ships (parts that look like they're coming out of other parts, namely the lip around the deflector area), and here at least it's more distracting than anything. That, and the 3/4 view picture has the far-side nacelle looking very awkward there.
There is something captivating about the front view, though.
But it doesn't look like a Federation starship. At all.
I do think that the current Odyssey should get that deflector dish. Then it would look amazing. The ship itself would make a great alien ship, but not a starfleet vessel.

It totally looks like what it's supposed to be: a hybrid of Starfleet and Vulcan design.
That's not to say it doesn't need quite a bit of work still, but don't exaggerate its problems either.
Front view looks nice. side view, less so. The nacell ring presents no feel of motion. it just stands there. It should be either forward or aft angled at least.
Also it would most likely look better without the middle pylon.
From the artist: "and the phasers into smaller strips for ease of replace and fire."
In-universe, it has been said that the *long* phaser arrays on the galaxy's saucer are capable of sustaining a beam longer and more powerful because of the *LINKED* emitters in the array and that the heat from firing it can be more evenly distribute among them.
No matter the design, I feel like we should have extra parts for the Ody so we can have customization. We currently don't have any parts to swap out in the Ody.
I always thought the Deep Space Science Vessel designs looked like Starfleet ships with a Vulcan design aesthetic.
The most defining characteristic of large Vulcan ship design is the warp ring, as opposed to the dual-nacelle design of most other starships. Deep Space Science Vessels look weirdashell, but they don't sport the ring.

I'd say the most striking thing isn't the warp ring, but the needle-like hull.
In my opinion I think if they did add a new variant to the Odyssey is should be subtle like the Excelsior is to the Enterprise B and not look like a completely new class.

First image looks pretty cool, love the deflector
Second the arc over the nacells is a bit wierd, but still kinda cool i guess O.o
Yeah I'm having that problem as well, it looks so awkward

Yea I dont see what people are on about it looks terrible.
Possibly not a different Odyssey, but a GREAT model for another ship! We all know there are more to come in the timeline. I'd vote for this.

Gotta agree with this.
I have looked at multiple times now.
I cannot see the attraction.
You see the same thing in a number of Federation ships, though, independent of Vulcan influence.
Yeah...feels like someone took a ship from another verse and threw a federation like saucer and deflector on it.
I saw the front view and was like owww nice then I saw the side and thought.....ummmm is it a ship like from the Fifth element.
