But the other Enterprise G, H, and I, now thats interesting. Though I'm nervious about the can of worms this might open up with the community after the DTNE.
I'd much rather see them get Andrew Probert or Rick Sternbach onboard for something like that. Surely it'd be less hassle than the Enterprise-F contest! :P
Yeah I forgot to hit refresh earlier too didn't even know the ask cryptic was even out. I do have to say it has inspired me and based off the either new added text in mine enemy or either I didn't remember it from that sounds like the iconians are manipulating all of the enemy factions to an extent. I saw where it said the Fek'ihr are massing for an attack pretty much under new leadership LOL.
I kinda wish I could have the first city template in foundry to create one of other iconic cities on Qo'nos in a foundry mission there is one that is suppossed to be like the twin city of the first city and would even be great to have a back drop of what we used to see in TNG of the KDF Headquarters to give it the kind of feel we get in adventure zones or even have one put like that for the KDF
A year and a half ago if anything was said wanting KDF content in forums or ask cryptics it was usually some of us you could count on one hand but especially from these ask cryptics it seems just like the Cryptic Live Team that the KDF has grown quite a bit too I guess both of those aspects kind of put some renewed faith in me plus season 8 and I don't mind it being in may especially since its around my birthday but gives a lot of time to get this new content done on alts before the next big thing hits.
I do have to say from the time when it seemed so gloom and nothing was coming out to now it has gone in a great direction. There just were some rough patches *excuse the pun* rofl but its great to have something to look forward to when there hasn't been much for me to look forward too in a long time
The other thought that occurred to me is that they might try giving us a T-3 version of these ships (KDF and the Ambassador) with us having to pay for the T-5 version.
Was along the lines of my first thought when I saw that T3 and T5 comment. So rather than do the Ody/Bort thing with the bundle later - they might be doing T3s with the T5 available in the store sort of thing...
I'd much rather see them get Andrew Probert or Rick Sternbach onboard for something like that. Surely it'd be less hassle than the Enterprise-F contest! :P
I wholeheartedly agree. No offense to Cryptic, but the hands of future Enterprises should be put in the hands of the pros. Be interesting what they could come up with.
Q: (eisenw0lf) Will the KDF ever get access to the mercenary costume? There are lots of 'alien'-characters on the red side who would love to have something to wear which is not an Omega armor or a distinctive klingon outfit. Some people like to play a Cardassian or Romulan and they look just stupid in the outfits currently available to KDF.
Dstahl: We agree with you that non-Klingons need more costume options, although we don?t necessarily think they look stupid. Rest assured that we are working on some new uniforms for the KDF side in Season 8 that are similar to the Mercenary outfits because not all KDF players want to wear spiky boots and shoulder pads.
Thanks for answering my question ... I guess? Hope you guys know that english is not my first language and my choice of words is based on whatever comes to my mind first, even if this results in 'stupid looking costumes'.
A solution for the AFKers in PVE bouts;
Track their damage/healing output (which is already done in some of the PvE bouts). Keep the information of "how much it take to be not considered AFK" a secret so the lazy players cannot figure it out and then just try to contribute the *absolute* minimum. This "minimum" line to be considered not AFK would varied from PvE bout to bout and varied between normal and elite modes as well.
if you do consider this, please be careful about it, one of my alts is a pacifist VA and doesn't kill or damage. Depending on the team the healing contributed is widely varied and her contributions are largely non-quantifiable (for example tanking Armek like she is made of diamond)
The easiest thing to do imo is to add personal console click checkpoints to make sure people are active as healing and even damage output can be automated
Regarding the character re-Species Token... Make it cost like 25 $ and maybe put a time restrain on it, like you can only use a re-Species Token every 6 months or so.
It would be extremely great if there was a re-species option in STO. When I first started STO at the beginning, I didn't have enough money for a Lifetime Sub so I made my main a human. Since that time, I have purchased a Lifetime and I would love for my main to be a Liberated Borg Human.
I understand that there should be guards placed to prevent people from switching to the favorite species of the week. Maybe a counter could be put in similar to the "Change region" for DVD Playback on computers (after 5 changes you cant do it anymore).

So Im the only one that caught Dan's Cryptic hint about V'Ger showing up in S8 or 9? He says he cant spoil anything, then in the same paragraph says something is coming that he will personally like. Dan always says he wants a V'Ger mission.

I mean it's not like Cryptic radically altered the way all the passives, including species specific ones, worked when they redid all the skills, and gave people zero ways to deal with said changes.
plus for your first character you choose those passives before you even play the game, you just kind to have to guess what they do. I just chose passives based on the name. Its crazy to expect total noobs to know which passives will actually complement them
I could be mistaken, but all I can remember for "actual" ships shown on-screen are the Connies (already in as tier 1), the D7 (already in at T3 and Fleet), the Original Rommie BoP (sorta in as a reskin under "frigate" class) and the DY-100. The rest of the ships "shown" on ToS were pretty much random balls of light, or lights in the case of the First Federation's Sphere ship... :P Oh, can't forget the First Federation's glowing Cube-trap...
Everything else is "soft canon", aka books. I'd prefer they try to get the true-canon ships in endgame first before flooding us with soft canon...
What makes me wonder, is has someone else previously proposed, to CBS, "reclassifying" older starships, I can understand not wanting the Connie to "match up" with an Odyssey, but what if a Tier 5 Connie was "repurposed" as a science vessel?
I know I mentioned this once and got little to no response. When you look at the "TNG" era ships, you have one show, one class - Intrepid is a science ship, Defiant is an escort, and the Galaxy is a cruiser. What if we kept Excelsior as the "older era" aka TMP Cruiser, the NX-Enterprise from ENT as a "rebuilt" Akira (mostly nacelle flip and paintjob, we might need to blow scale but that's not too bad to get an "NX" at tier 5) and the ToS Connie is about the same size/mass/etc. as some of the Science ships, so put her there.
Detecting big-time "anti-old-school" bias here. NX? Lobi. TOS/TMP Connie? Super-promotion-box. (aka the two hardest ways to get ships) Excelsior & all 3 TNG "big hero" ships? C-Store. Please Equalize...

I'm hoping for at least one TAS design. Stahl specifically mantioned that they can use ANYTHING they want from TAS.
I wholeheartedly agree. No offense to Cryptic, but the hands of future Enterprises should be put in the hands of the pros. Be interesting what they could come up with.
Yes, because Andrew Probert and Rick Sternbach were ALWAYS 'Star Trek' pros, and were involved with GR and Star Trek from 1964 on... oh wait...
Sorry, just don't care for the line of thought that no but those involved in PAST productions can add something good to the franchise. Most of the TNG crew were fans (or aat least had seen some form of 'Star Trek' prior to being hired.
I still have NEVER cared for the monstrosity that was the 1701-D Galaxy Class myself ( by Rick Sternbach) and I've been watching Star Trek first run sine 1969. Would have loved to have seen what Franz Joeseph could have done for TNG designs myself. (OMG - I'm displaying a behaviour I don't care for myself here )

The Bonaventure having been mentioned a few times in this thread got me thinking. If TAS content is now more available to Cryptic, some of it's open-ended plot points could be revisited. So why not revisit Elysia and board the Bonaventure as found within the Delta Triangle? That would certainly require the Bonaventure be modeled.

Dstahl wanted opinions if people were interested in being able to change species along with traits and my answer is a definite yes. When I first started playing STO it was a learning experience did not really know what effect traits and species had on in game play. Now that I have been playing awhile and now have a life time membership I would like to be able to change some of my toons that I first made when I was learning the game.
I feel that, as a gold member, we subscribers do not get enough 'perks' in this game. Lifetime Subscribers pay a lump sum of $300, while other gold pay about $15 monthly, yet F2P players get all the same in-game privileges, just slightly lessened (Ex. Bank Slots - We both have them, just subscribers have a few more.) I am asking that you consider giving us more privileges to make us feel like our money is truly worth the game we're playing.

[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] Boldly going where no one has gone before!
Where do we submit these questions anyway? I once posted an idea on the forum, but it never really got much traction, even though in-game a lot of players seemed to quite like it. It basically involved making a new commendation reward for reaching Espionage level 4. At that point all of the opposite faction's costumes would be available for one costume slot (which would presumably be added to your existing ones for hopefully free) as a sort of disguise theme. Obviously such a disguise wouldn't really work very well for a human trying to pretend to be a Klingon, but I don't know how easily it could be coded for just one costume slot to allow extra facial features on closed races. If it were made to be that this slot also allowed the use of purchased C-store costumes, it might even have the benefit of mildly increasing costume sales. At least I suppose players who are heavily KDF and don't use their Feds much might buy more. Probably wouldn't work much the other way around.
Just as last month, i wanted to ask a LOT of questions but i think this one is STILL the most important to me and i know a lot of other people too.
(in- and most notably outside the forums.)
Ships are a crucial part of this game, especially when you are fan of a specific ship class. Everything stands and falls with them.
(i hope thats the right expression).
Mr. DStahl, i don't expect my question to be answered (again) but at least please read it and consider it this time, i try to be as honest and open as possible.
QUESTION:
Can we please get a "Mirror Galaxy Class"?
A Galaxy Class with the BOFF & Console Layout of the Regent Class (simliar like the Mirror Assault Cruiser and Star Cruiser from the Tholian Lockboxes). That ship would have all stats, Hull , BOFF & Console layout of the prime universe counterpart (the Regent Class in this case), except that it looks like a normal Galaxy -R Class. To give this ship an additional bonus you could make the ship parts of the Envoy, Celestial, and Galaxy availlable, just for the sake of creativity. Everyone who has bought the Monarch and the Venture will have those ship parts availlable too, of course.
And now the interesting part for Cryptic ($$):
I think it would sell like hot cakes, just because it would be (finally) be a Galaxy Class with "teeth" and a much more active ship, in contrast to those passive Galaxy Class ships we have in this game.
You could make it a unlock for everyone who has already bought the Regent, charging 200 - 500 ZEN. PLUS you would sell even more Regent class ships. So it would be a win - win for everyone!
Releasing such a ship would be a nice gesture to all TNG fans who are very unhappy, disappointed and frustrated with the Galaxy Class as it is in the Game. Flying a extreme Tank is just a pain and especially not how a Galaxy Class was in the shows. If you want a "super" tank in this game, why don't you just use one of your own designs for that "role", but please do not abuse the Galaxy Class for that.
As a "mirror" Ship, it wouldn't affect STOs prime universe Galaxy Class, so the game would still have a lot of completely toothless Galaxy Class variants.
For many of us, the Galaxy class is just the most iconic ship in Star Trek, seeing it as the one starfleet cruiser featuring the least firepower is just disappointing and frustrating. (Even the Star Cruiser has a Mirror variant with more firepower).
Anyway releasing that ship would be a win - win for everyone and a true fan service by cryptic.
BTW:
Could you please improve the fleet heavy cruiser a bit?
Maybe by giving it two Lt. Tac BO stations instead of one Lt and one Ensign tactical BO Stations.
(while reducing its Science Lt. into a ensign)
Or another option would be to give it something like the Galaxy X spinal lance, maybe using the heavy cruisers main deflector dish. (think about best of both worlds)
As it is now, this ship doesn't have anything special or any advantage compared to standart tier 5 cruisers, even its BO layout is the same as the standart assault cruiser (which isn't even a Fleet ship). It desperately needs something that makes it stand out, even the fleet nova Class or the Ferengi (!) D'Kora have far better tactical BO options.
Another option would be to make into a cruiser opposite to the Nebula Class, by giving it the same BO layout as the nebula but with Cmdr. science and the Lt. Cmdr engineering being switched. (Whatever you do please don't introduce anymore ships utilizing cannons, i really really hate them !
Just give them some more stronger Beam arrays.)
As a Fleet ship i think the Fleet heavy Cruiser should be a bit more advanced (at least it should be a bit more ... well ...heavy..
,don't you think?
Especially since it costs 4 (!) Fleet Ship Modules.
Thank you for reading, live long and prosper.

When re-traiting is implemented, it might be wise to look at the how mandatory certain traits are. Personally I would be most interested in changing traits (and races in some cases) to get
to get Accuracy and Elusive on all of my characters. Those are such big buffs that if you go into PvP without them you are at a major disadvantage.
Several people have mentioned that changing race ought to be very expensive, difficult or rare, and I'd be fine with that except that many races can't access traits that are required for space PvP. Some of the racial required traits have no noticeable effect, like humans with Leadership, while the race is locked out of some of the most useful traits in the game.
Accuracy and Elusive are really the worst culprits for wrong-race/wrong-spec problems. A lot could be solved by doing one of the following:
1. Open them up to every race.
2. Remove the abilities (you don't need Accuracy if no one has Elusive, and visa versa; removing them both would just give noobs who didn't know to take them more of a chance)
3. Give them both to everyone without using up a trait slot (this would have the same effect as #2 with regard to other players, but would give players in general an edge over NPCs)
4. Balance all the traits so they have relatively equal benefits. Racial required traits in particular should be desirable enough to merit giving up the current required traits.
If certain races are still locked out of Accurate or Elusive, then racial respecs ought to be free, and easy to acquire at least one time. Those traits are just ridiculously powerful compared to all other options.

When he said TAS, the first thought that came to my mind was the Anteres-type freighter, which was also shown in the TOS remastery.
And another that stood out was the Bonneventure, which was a type of proto Consitution.
So be interesting what Cryptic is going to surprise us with. And how many of these are really going to be just NPC ships.
