You get zero gear for unlocking the tiers... your math is the unlock marks required.

This all depends on the quality of the gear you want your character to have. Another way to look at it is ? the better the gear, the more Dilithium it will cost, and thus the more time it will take to earn.
End game gear prices range depending on the mark quality and exclusivity of the piece. For example, Ground Armor ranges from 6,300 Refined Dilithium up to about 16,800 Dilithium for Mk 12 Premium Set Ground Armor. More critical gear such as Space Impulse Engines can range from 37,900 Refined Dilithium all the way up to about 84,000 Refined Dilithium for a Mk 12 Premium Set Impulse Engine.

i feel for the casual player. they have to work and wait and work and wait, just so they can be on the same page as players equipped like me. overall, they're not going to be very competitive in the game. fleet actions? no shot at getting top prize. elite stfs? you're more of a liability to the team than an asset... even if you know what the hell you're doing. pvp? yeah, good luck with that. at least they'll have epoh herding and tribble breeding.

Starbase projects are only 20hrs and minor upgrades like bartender are 20 hrs with the major upgrades taking a few days.
I think the personal projects need the timescales put on a comparable lvl to starbase projects and upgrades.
So Equipment project upgrades should be 20 hrs.
Now its a time grind under this system I'd only need to log in every two days for personal project.
Season 7 has been a major misstep in player relations.
I was looking forward to season 7 with the new content and expanded universe and extra missions.
But now its like, I'm not generating fleet marks as I used to - via investigate officer reports.
I'm not getting enough dilithium.
Everything is taking longer. I think Ill watch Star Trek the motionless picture later thats almost a record speed breaker compared to whats been done for players, completing starbases, getting dilithium, getting equipment from drops to use or convert to EC.

The problem for me and my group of friends that play the game is that we liked DS9 and doing runs for salvage to get weapons to try out etc, now we are bored to tears and we do not like this new way to get those weapons etc, this is awful.

I work 12hr shifts. I dont mind this rep system but i simply DONOT have the time to invest thousands in dill and grind to earn the top gear. No ive spent good money on ships in this game no longer. I cant afford to do so with the crippling requirements of this new system. Oh well I love World of tanks and just getting into Mechwarrior Online. There is always something else...

This is my big issue. Speaking personally, I think the gear unlocks should either work in the upgrade slot or award project levels of rep progression.
Otherwise, they can all wait until T5. It's just another 65 days and I don't NEED the gear that badly.

Outside of dilithium, nothing really has to be farmed daily and if you don't care about dilithium or EC or helping a fleet, you really only need to login once every 40 hours for rep.
The rep system is pretty casual and the time gating makes it more casual.
If you want any of the unlocks you will have to farm (or pay cash ofc).
Just doing missions for marks will give you what, 1000 k dilithium per week ? So you will have 8 k after you unlock t5, I doubt that will get you very far.
Another thing you said, buying items blocks leveling though they supposedly are in seperate categories makes zero sense.
If I had any doubts before about getting something for my marks while I wait I certainly don't any longer.

All I can say is this:
Please lower the project timers. There is no need to artificially stretch the content for the player. I could understand that when the game was released, because we had a severe lack of endgame choice, but now we have a lot of ways to focus on.
Why the need to stretch it for your players? Let me focus on getting my reputation done in a moderate pace and then go on to focus on the other faction. By the time I am finished with T5 in a faction you will probably rolled out another one. Even with only a 24h timer it will take me a very long time.
And don't forget the fleet factor in this. I still have a fleet to supply next to my reputation too.
When it comes to the gear...well, I think this is what happens when nobody gets the chance to test the economy of the system. We were told multiple times we would get the chance to test those on tribble with the help of some dev magic done, but guess what...it had to be rolled out before the competitor relaunched it's product.
Ditch the timesink on purchasing gear, your double diping on players by making them spend time unlocking new tiers and THEN making them wait yet again.
Increase the cost for the Romulan/Reman reinforcement device and make it permanent with a hour or 2 cooldown. I can't see the validity of expending time and resources for a cool, but futile novelty device. From a roleplay standpoint, D'tan and Oboleisk would feel shame to offer something so redundant to allies!
So the original system that got me my 7 ships fully decked in MKXII borg weapons, my two MACO MKXII sets and my two MKXII Omega sets, and my MKXI MACO and OMEGA ground sets that I purchased with EDC, and finally a lot of dilithium out of 250 STFs, was traded in for this new repugnant **** system here.
Rather than just put drops up on the store for EDC. **** that ****. "it's 60% less grinding!" **** that **** excuse when after just two days I've grinded more in this game than I have in 6 months. I coulda logged in today and have another proto drop within a hour but nooo, they couldn't leave well enough alone because of a couple hundred unlucky players that play like 1 STF a day and expect to get ahead with proto drops.

the best part? after all this farming, what are you going to do with your new found sets after waiting all this time? more farming. LOL... oh the irony. all the while, picking up the slack of all of those around you who haven't completed the same grind. If you thought public queues and some private games were bad? Just wait until you have all these new, completely under geared guys trying to participate.
You can't argue with Sharpe on this... I've run plenty of STF's with him and have had a similar experience, I got all my characters (3) kitted with both MACO and OMEGA XII for ground and space... and I work in real life.
These changes mean I have to grind more... I worked it out to keep up with marks I need to do 1 1STF on each char per day, 1Romulan daily patrol on each char per day, One Fleet mission per day, 1 Dilith PVE per day. Plus doffing.
It's about 4 hours every day. before I could do all that on 3 chars in under 2 hours, especially with broken consoles and STF thats dropped Purple Salve like it was Christmas.
Now I have come to the decision that really, even though I am an LTS... I can't play this game anymore, maybe turn up on the weekends and play with the friends I've made here, but advancing my fleet and my chars is a mountain too tall to climb now
it wouldnt be so bad if it was account wide unlock but you got to do it over and over again so those of us that like to play all the classes are really really screwed.
i refuse to grind and spend all that time waiting to unlock something that i already had access too.
change it so xi atleast is already unlocked or change it back tot he way it was.

I came to the conclusion that if things stay as they are I simply won't bother trying to progress and just play a few hours on the weekends for fun.
When I came to the game 3 months ago I was really enthusiastic everything seemed within reach and achievable. I set up my own fleet and even started designing a website for it. Now I think I'm just going to close it down.
Heres my Take on New rep system. I thought it was goner be brilliant. upon Unlocking Teir 1 Omega. I come to find that to own any peice of Equip u have to go thru another 1 day 16 hrs on a project. Which by way takes up an active slot to requisitions the item & worst of it is. An equipment req only gives u 10Xp for the nearly 2 days it runs. My god whats the point. 2 days wasted for a peice of equip & no real Xp. WELL DONE DEVS. FUTURE OF STO. STILL NOT SECURE. People will leave over these new badly thought out projects. But if that aint bad enough. The Normal projects take 1 day 16 hrs to get u a grand total of 2800Xp. No new projects. Again Well done. NOT.
So with the Equip Projects r they worht it. Well to be fair for a new player yes. But then no at the same time. Simply because to get their Space set, Ground set & weapons all at mk 10. Thats around 30-32 days to get it all. So whilst they doing that. Other players will be sodding the Equip & upp'ing their teirs.
So by time the new player has spent 30-32 days doing that. Another player could well be at the Half way mark on all the teirs. Which should take 60days at the current 1 day 16hrs to unlock Tier 5.
If u do the math. for each set. 30-32 days. Thats an entire month For each Set whether it MACO/Honour Gaurd or OMEGA. so if u want the Accolades & u do want the sets too. lets say. 2 months for MACO & Omega ground & Space. So a total of nearly 6 months once all 5 teirs are unlocked. Thats without the standard 3 Borg Sets too. Which r another lets say 3 weeks work per set. So 2 months for All borg sets so 8 months work. To aquire all the sets. Which means 10months to get everything available to u & all Accolades involving the sets unlocked to u. Wait I forgot about the new Atapted MACo set. damn it. 11 months of ur time wasted. Well done Cryptic. Well done indeed.

I think the personal projects need the timescales put on a comparable lvl to starbase projects and upgrades.
So Equipment project upgrades should be 20 hrs.
Now its a time grind under this system I'd only need to log in every two days for personal project.
Season 7 has been a major misstep in player relations.
I was looking forward to season 7 with the new content and expanded universe and extra missions.
But now its like, I'm not generating fleet marks as I used to - via investigate officer reports.
I'm not getting enough dilithium.
Everything is taking longer. I think Ill watch Star Trek the motionless picture later thats almost a record speed breaker compared to whats been done for players, completing starbases, getting dilithium, getting equipment from drops to use or convert to EC.

When I started playing a few months back I asked a friend who'd played another MMO. he said he played one every for 18 months. then they changed things that pissed him off so he stopped. Seems to be a lesson MMOs never learn.

You are incorrect. These are the requirements for T1:
romulan:
scorpion hangar pet blue quality: 60 rom marks, 10k dil, 30 engi or ops doffs, 10k expertise, 1 tod'uj fighter, 5 warp coils.

each project 1 day 16 hours. the 3rd upgrade slot can not be used for any of these. only the 2 dedicated project slots.
The projected figures I listed in the post above is for T5 mk xii gear.
The problem for me and my group of friends that play the game is that we liked DS9 and doing runs for salvage to get weapons to try out etc, now we are bored to tears and we do not like this new way to get those weapons etc, this is awful.
normaly I do not agree with such rash decisions....and well that still stands......
they should be tied to a chair, blindfolded and have that chair placed in a room with 3ft of space from the door down, have that space filled with 1ft of water and make them sit there for days.....its the same experience we would get.
yes , but it's also way faster to farm 30 k dilithium and get a purple hangar ( which is also way better and in the end cheaper ) than this monstrosity of a system. What were those guys thinking ? And you can simply BUY a blue hangar in the shipyard with EC

This is my big issue. Speaking personally, I think the gear unlocks should either work in the upgrade slot or award project levels of rep progression.
Otherwise, they can all wait until T5. It's just another 65 days and I don't NEED the gear that badly.
If you guys can't handle the long wait times and the task of farming every day, then go play something else and leave the game to those of us who don't have things called "jobs" or "lives." There's plenty of other f2p titles out there and there will be plenty of regular game on sale next week for Black Friday.
Outside of dilithium, nothing really has to be farmed daily and if you don't care about dilithium or EC or helping a fleet, you really only need to login once every 40 hours for rep.
The rep system is pretty casual and the time gating makes it more casual.
If you want any of the unlocks you will have to farm (or pay cash ofc).
Just doing missions for marks will give you what, 1000 k dilithium per week ? So you will have 8 k after you unlock t5, I doubt that will get you very far.
Another thing you said, buying items blocks leveling though they supposedly are in seperate categories makes zero sense.
If I had any doubts before about getting something for my marks while I wait I certainly don't any longer.
All I can say is this:
Please lower the project timers. There is no need to artificially stretch the content for the player. I could understand that when the game was released, because we had a severe lack of endgame choice, but now we have a lot of ways to focus on.
Why the need to stretch it for your players? Let me focus on getting my reputation done in a moderate pace and then go on to focus on the other faction. By the time I am finished with T5 in a faction you will probably rolled out another one. Even with only a 24h timer it will take me a very long time.
And don't forget the fleet factor in this. I still have a fleet to supply next to my reputation too.
When it comes to the gear...well, I think this is what happens when nobody gets the chance to test the economy of the system. We were told multiple times we would get the chance to test those on tribble with the help of some dev magic done, but guess what...it had to be rolled out before the competitor relaunched it's product.
This is really sad for the game and the players.

Ditch the timesink on purchasing gear, your double diping on players by making them spend time unlocking new tiers and THEN making them wait yet again.
Increase the cost for the Romulan/Reman reinforcement device and make it permanent with a hour or 2 cooldown. I can't see the validity of expending time and resources for a cool, but futile novelty device. From a roleplay standpoint, D'tan and Oboleisk would feel shame to offer something so redundant to allies!
Rather than just put drops up on the store for EDC. **** that ****. "it's 60% less grinding!" **** that **** excuse when after just two days I've grinded more in this game than I have in 6 months. I coulda logged in today and have another proto drop within a hour but nooo, they couldn't leave well enough alone because of a couple hundred unlucky players that play like 1 STF a day and expect to get ahead with proto drops.

You can't argue with Sharpe on this... I've run plenty of STF's with him and have had a similar experience, I got all my characters (3) kitted with both MACO and OMEGA XII for ground and space... and I work in real life.
These changes mean I have to grind more... I worked it out to keep up with marks I need to do 1 1STF on each char per day, 1Romulan daily patrol on each char per day, One Fleet mission per day, 1 Dilith PVE per day. Plus doffing.
It's about 4 hours every day. before I could do all that on 3 chars in under 2 hours, especially with broken consoles and STF thats dropped Purple Salve like it was Christmas.
Now I have come to the decision that really, even though I am an LTS... I can't play this game anymore, maybe turn up on the weekends and play with the friends I've made here, but advancing my fleet and my chars is a mountain too tall to climb now

change it so xi atleast is already unlocked or change it back tot he way it was.
im not logging back in til something is done im fed up with chinese grind like crazy pokemon model cryptic have switched to. i wish i could get my money back.

That was Seasons 1-6. Season7 is about separating the wheat/whales from the chaff of moochers.
Personal bugbears:
1 day 16 hours is too long for the projects - 20-24 hours max would be reasonable then we could see daily progress.
Having to wait 3+ days to buy Mk X MACO once you've unlocked it is completely unreasonable - make the purchasing projects 1 hour max.
The cost in Commodities for each set of two Romulan/Omega projects even at Tier 1 works out at about 125,000 EC across my 3 characters - with reduced loot dropping in game this seems a little harsh - Commodities required should be 50% of what they are now.
And for me at least, there's little (if anything) of value in the Tier 1 unlocks - and charging 30 Doffs for Scorpion Fighters (plus the Dilithium etc.) is just robbery.
This whole thing needs a workover, and it needs it fast.
I came to the conclusion that if things stay as they are I simply won't bother trying to progress and just play a few hours on the weekends for fun.
When I came to the game 3 months ago I was really enthusiastic everything seemed within reach and achievable. I set up my own fleet and even started designing a website for it. Now I think I'm just going to close it down.
It's all just too much for me.

So with the Equip Projects r they worht it. Well to be fair for a new player yes. But then no at the same time. Simply because to get their Space set, Ground set & weapons all at mk 10. Thats around 30-32 days to get it all. So whilst they doing that. Other players will be sodding the Equip & upp'ing their teirs.
So by time the new player has spent 30-32 days doing that. Another player could well be at the Half way mark on all the teirs. Which should take 60days at the current 1 day 16hrs to unlock Tier 5.
If u do the math. for each set. 30-32 days. Thats an entire month For each Set whether it MACO/Honour Gaurd or OMEGA. so if u want the Accolades & u do want the sets too. lets say. 2 months for MACO & Omega ground & Space. So a total of nearly 6 months once all 5 teirs are unlocked. Thats without the standard 3 Borg Sets too. Which r another lets say 3 weeks work per set. So 2 months for All borg sets so 8 months work. To aquire all the sets. Which means 10months to get everything available to u & all Accolades involving the sets unlocked to u. Wait I forgot about the new Atapted MACo set. damn it. 11 months of ur time wasted. Well done Cryptic. Well done indeed.
Mite as well have stuck with random drops at that rate of progress for new Players. GOOD JOB DEVS AT CRYPTIC. I THINK U NEED TO HIRE PEOPLE WITH MATHS SKILLS. Free 2 play. I think their trying to phase this out. If so why make it Free 2 play in 1st place?

A thousand times this. I'm hoping for an apology, but i doubt one is coming. This kind of content makes me want to play EVE again but i cant afford a sub. Thankfully i do have other games.
