Wow I havent been this ticked since i left for tor, been actually happy coming back from TOR, but to see this what a slap in the face to anyone who has been here since launch, that your going to offer everything to anyone who buys a lts now and give them all the perks we all had to wait for, and still waiting, thanx alot for making us feel so special and supporting you guys since start.. bravo cryptic and pwe.. you sure show your character.

I've been here since launch (Open Beta even), and I think this is a great show of support

I just wish that Cryptic gave a time of exclusivity for the 1000-day veterans to have this ship and play with it. Perhaps along with 1000-day, do the $200 sale for 1 month.
Then, perhaps on the 3-year anniversary, let LTS'ers get everything the moment they pay $300 for the LTS (and of course retroactively for all LTS'ers). Also then announce a 1000-someodd day exclusive title, "Founder of the Federation" perhaps, to distinguish them from "I got everything at once" LTS'ers.
I think that would have appeased everyone...or at least, upset fewer.
That would have made sense. Those are fantastic ideas! I really like the "Founder of the Federation" title since the other one is now completely meaningless. They really snatched defeat from the jaws of victory here. What should have been a celebration for many of us seems tainted (again).
Thank you for doing this. As a 600 day subscriber I missed many of the perks which the current people approaching 1000 days got and so at least now we are on a level playing field.
For those interested in what us newer litetimes missed out on, I refer to the abolishing of the old currencies and the transfer to dilithium at F2P. The old lifers previously got a nice quantity of emblems for free at 500 days and they got transferred into dilithium. If they had got too many emblems though, including their free 250 per character they were awarded a free Veteran Boff which nobody else could or can ever get any more.
Do not be thinking they are losing unique stuff remember they have had access to stuff the rest of us can only dream about.
I feel like I ran a marathon only to find out everyone took a bus to the finish line.
I say that with having 35 days to go.
I wanted more lifer perks because I was looking at "more to come" on the lifetime perks page for years but this isn't what I had in mind at least keep the forum title for those who reached 1000 days
Old lifers may feel undervalued now but they should consider that any new lifer means new long-term players in the game, more ressources for the dev team, and more content at the end of the day.
See cryptic.. even people who aren't lifetime subs and would get all the rewards in one big swoop are saying this wasn't a wise move due to you under-valuing the people who actually waited 1000 days for theirs.

Although I am happy to "share my toys" as it were with people who bought Lifetime Subs after the supposedly limited time frame (and you all will like the perks if you haven't reached them yet), I know I personally will never pay another cent of my own money at the Cryptic Store ever again. That will be my own little protest and I recommend that other 1,000 Day Subscribers follow suit if they also feel a bit betrayed by this. It's not that I don't want others to be able to enjoy these items, it's just that for a brief time this was actually kind of exciting and felt special. That special feeling is pretty much gone at this point. So from now on I'll live in-game entirely off of my stipend and won't be contributing any more funds to this game.

Yep - exactly this. These ships weren't made as a reward for the loyalty of STO's earliest supporters, they were made to sell LTS'
I just don't have any respect left for this game, Cryptic or PWE.
Original comments redacted as they ARE giving all LTS players (past and present) all the Vet rewards, which, even as someone who bought an LTS on day one, I'm VERY okay with (and if you saw my earlier redacted comment - that's exactly what I suggested.)
I'm the fool for going off what was being said in game, and not really reading the full blurb where they outlined the whole thing - my bad.
GREAT decision by Cryptic Marketing.

here here, and iam following suit no matter what shiney they put in there. Like I said in my last post ive been relatively happy coming back from TOR and have been enjoying the game, this instance of what has happened, its just sour in my mouth now...
Its almost like what soe did with swg to the elder jedi player base, bam you dont have to work hard and do your trials, now you can just simply click a button and bam your a jedi... yay...

Basically, this really seems like a "Oh no, Star Wars Old Republic is going F2P...WE'RE DOOMED so let's make as much money in one go as we can" sort of moment. TOR is a much better game so that most likely will really happen.
Suggestion: Do the right thing and give ANYONE who purchased an LTS prior to today the same vet rewards deal - everything unlocked for anyone with an LTS prior to today, through the end of this sale. They ALREADY PAID the LTS price that the new players who are taking advantage of this deal, and in the end Cryptic honestly looses nothing, as once you go LTS, you will get the Vet rewards whether you continue to log in or not. Cryptic honestly looses NOTHING by doing this and maybe gains some goodwill with the LTS playerbase.
No need to suggest it: it's already happening to every LTS Starting tomorrow that is
It does say 'all current and future subscribers' after all. That obviously means those who were LTS before this sale

Alright, first I wish you to thank you for unlocking all veteran perks, but please. This way will anger most of your most loyal supporters(Early subscribers/Lifetimers). Personally I would have prefered to have an increased rate of "Life-time-perks-earnings". This would feel very different for the oldschool lifetimers and will give newer lifetimers a chance to "Catch-up". As it will still be given on a duration-base.
It does however add some value back to the subscriptions but I would prefer to see an alternative solution(i.e. not being spammed with keysales as a subscriber, it frustrates me). I understand that the game is free to play and that money has to be made by it, but it is not really something I do appreciate for those with subscriptions.
Nonetheless, thank you for the additional perks, but please do something with our criticism

All current LTS folks get it too, only the Gold subscribers should not be happy at this point. Of course sale is still on for them to weigh up the options.

This is also what I will be doing. I will not pay another penny into this game. I suggest all others that feel similarly do exactly the same. I hope Cryptic invests the short-term windfall from these new LTS sales wisely.

yep iam with you guys on this, and ill say for the record since coming back from tor Ive spent almost 3-400 bucks on the game.. no more will i put cash into it, sorry cryptic/pwe you really put the "knife" in our backs on this move.

Since Star Trek Online launched in February 2010, we have thanked our loyal subscribers and lifetime members through the Veteran?s Rewards program. We know you have many options in choosing where to spend your time, so it means so much to us that you choose to spend it here
This whole complaining about the price is just silly to me i bought it when it was $299.99 and am just fine with the price they have here because i enjoy the things i can get as a Life timer but hearing people complain about the price is almost as silly as complaing about gas prices going up

Uhmm we are complaining about the days not the price no one is as far as i could tell?
Talking to my self, asking stuff to my self, definitely not understanding my self. Such is the life of an overworked Starfleet admiral.

I?m done. With playing?? Heck no! But they got my last sub money in September. I am/was a 6 month player from day one. I always said I was going to bail from paying if the vet was going to end. To me the vet rewards ending meant that payer support was ending. Why stay pay???? I have bought slots for BO's 18 BO's by the way. I bought toon slots even thou I only play one. I also bought bank slots. I don?t create on the foundry. I do enjoy playing it!. But they got my last sub. I assume I will get to keep my Vet title but wondering if I also get the forum header.
I always said it was a slap in the face to the players when they ended vet rewards. Now I hear today that anyone from today on that buys life will get the ship the day they buy life. So is it a cstore ship? Well no you cant buy it on cstore but yes you can buy it. If killing vet rewards was a slap this is a punch to all beta/launch lifers. Kind of even a punch to me because all people need to do is discover the game buy life and get the ship before me. Yea I will get it in like 2 weeks but still I hope you can see how its a knock to the people like me who have paid from day one but not bought life.
Cryptic it's a great way to bring more lifers in 4SURE! Coming from a business man you have really threw your "current" customers to the curb. If not lifers because heck you got there money! You tossed me to the curb. Well Ill get back up and hop back on the train to the stars. I love it! But ill buy my keys and everything else I can on the exchange and leave my sub money at home.
I think you guys are missing the point here. As a LTM you are going to be eligible for all the vet awards anyway, automatically, you could log off and log back in 3 years later and pick them all up without supporting the game at all after the initial investment. The people that pay subs are still going to have to wait the required time anyway, so they will have to support the game for each hundred days to pick up the next award. I'm at 641 days so have had many of the awards, I am also a LTM and I am pleased that new LTMs will see a huge packet of goodies included with their large one-off purchase. Hopefully it will encourage more to come off F2P or Subs and make a large initial investment into the game.
Yes, I agree. Main points in bullet form.
1.) As a new lifetime member you would EVENTUALLY get the ship and other rewards anyway. For people who are not 1000 Vets, this is a huge plus.
2.) People who sub month-to-month still have to wait. They are still Vet Rewards because a month-to-month player still gets them. I remember when both this game and my former game (City of Heroes) implemented veteran rewards people asked if you paid for your subscription in 3 month or more increments would you get the vet rewards you would get up front. They COULD have implemented it this way but they did not. Now they changed it, but only for LTM.
3.) Whatever you think of the new ships, the fact is that people will want them. Making these ships non-attainable will make the current long-term LTM's happy, but it will discourage many more people who have NO REASONABLE access to get the ship, other than waiting three years.
4.) To the current LTM's I know you are mad because this is one of the few things YOU get for your status, but really there was almost NO reason for anyone new to become a LTM. Only the calculation of whether you have put in enough months to get more zen out then what you paid for.
5.) "WHAAAA! SOMEONE NEW GETS THE SAME AS ME!" This isn't really true. Lets say you took advantage of the $200 lifetime sale at launch. (I was in at launch but not lifetime but remember there was a sale like this then.)
There is a huge difference between the beta LTM and the new LTM. For one, you got access to the game for the entirety of its time before FTP. I played 4 months of paid time during that time and I paid $60. If I decide to go LTM now because of this, you still got months more playtime and paid $60 less for it than I did. Plus the 500 zen/month since FTP started that you got.
Personally, I'm glad about this. I'll admit it. I'm a big uniform person and now I will get access to the cool Jupiter uniform variants. I think it is an excellent marketing strategy, though not very nice to the people who paid for 1000 days of STO time. On the other hand, if you are willing to sink $200-$300 in at once, you are pretty dedicated. I only did this with the last lifetime sale. Sure I just technically became gold in July and am only a 200-day veteran right now, but that was because I let my sub lapse after 6 months in the game. With a year long hiatus in there, I've been playing STO since beta.
I'll say that I've been a bit ticked by people who just rant about how the lifetime subs just let essentially 1 day veterans (if they never subscribed before) get the 1000 day vet rewards. Sure there will be people who do that, but ranting about it offends me because I've been here since before day 1. Why should the fact that I didn't have the money to go lifetime or continue my sub then mean that I am somehow cheating to get those ships with a lifetime sub?
