personally i couldnt give a flying monkeys about them ' making it op ' id rather they didnt
the fact my favorite ships going to be in game is enough for me

I'll be buying this ship because its the vesta , not because its an op monster so many people seem to want it to be

Why does it have to be so uber, you think they would be so stupid as to spend so much money to purchase the Vesta to the point where they are betting the farm on the sales of a single c-store ship?

I mean I may dislike or disagree with things Cryptic has done but I don't think they are stupid enough to risk everything on a single c-store purchase...ship or not.
Can't have a honest conversation because of a white knight with power

I have no idea , power creep i guess , people always want something stronger , regardless of how little sense it makes

Men for sure will buy more if it is perceived as more powerful - that goes for everything - cars, tools, computers, machinery

I mean if you have a 14.4v cordless drill and they come out with a new version that is 18v - men will want it - it's more powerful and therefore better.

If gas price and money was not a barrier men would usually get the most powerful car possible

Not just men - Apple makes a fortune redoing the Iproducts every 6 months making them a bit better than the last version - and everyone runs out like mad people to go buy them - and a lot of those mad people are women!

And the PvP argument is BS as 90% sold will never see PvP action

yes , size wise it seems spot on , when it was accidentally uploaded to foundry , someone made a video of it lined up next to the sovereign , luna and intrepid classes ( ironically all the classes the vesta serves alongside in the books )

I know - people say that Cyptic would be shooting itself in the foot if it cam out with an OP ship

But the Case for it this time is very strong:

    1) They paided extra for it

2)It launches with what is supposed to be a big Season - so having a anticipate ship as a dud would not look good at all!!

3)We are coming into fiscal end and quarter end and christmas season - all of which companies usually put out their best stuff to get into the `black`for the year

after the lackluster Sov-R and the big slow down from S6 they need a big solid sales leader going into end of year

Anything less would shoot themselves in the foot in my opinion - but like I said before - nothing we say here really effects what we get.

    Vor`cha is still a BIG ship Lenght 482M width 342M!! - height 107 meters

Vesta - lenght 672M - 1 third is Nacelle sticking way back width 132M height 88 meters

ok, first off, let me start by saying that this is a video game first. which means they compete with other video games. if they start making unbalanced anything (ships, weapons, classes, etc) they will lose players. this has happened in other games.

they are in the works of making pvp better, which means they arnt gonna destroy it before it even launches. (by having unbalanced ships.

yes money is good, but losing players is bad. (especially when you lose paying customers)..

they do not need to make this ship op to sell it. there are two factors to attribute to this.
    A) players have been screaming for this ship since launch. it has had a large fallowing and alot of attention from the player base.

    B) science people are screaming for something that is different. even balanced with a slightly slow turn rate, people will eat this ship up to use cannons on a sci vessel. there are ways around turn rate.

i will repeat this sentiment again. cryptic has worked hard to balance the rest of the ships since the get go. they talk of balance and al r. even stated on one of the older stoked episodes where he talked about what he wanted to do with the vesta that he had ideas, but had to figure out how to balance them. (the sovvy refit wasnt a flop, i feel more peeps are waiting for the fleet version with the tenth console, why pay 25 dollers for a ships when you can pay 20). everyone i know who has one (and i am apart of one of the larger fleets in the game) loves it. there are a few things they would like to see different, but otherwise they feel they got their moneys worth.

and your right about it being end of year, that is why a new lockbox was intraduced and well probably see more than just the vesta released b4 the end of the year, remember, the ambassador and the andorian vessel are due to launch in season 7..

and i find the comments about men a little overstated, and it had no place in this forum.. lol.

People who bought it COULD HAVE opted just to use the Sovereign costume skin/parts and ignored the Regent costume. You wouldn't KNOW if you saw it on launch day.

Yes I would, because as I've said (multiple times) I check tooltips. They specify ship type by name, including which type of Assault Cruiser.
That said, I think that while ships have been a healthy seller, interest is dying down...

Hard to pass this off as a "general ship problem" when there are tonnes of Atroxes and Armitages flitting about.

Problem being that as soon as they start adding OP ship after OP ship they relegate their backlog to obsolescence and thus can only sell the latest OP ship. The development costs (in the form of man hours) is higher on some wares than others... doesn't mean they charge more for those ships or make them more powerful, because as soon as you do that you hurt the sales of all of the quicker, cheaper product you're putting out which is generally where you make the lion's share of your profits because you're looking at a higher return.

Like the Atrox, Odyssey and Armitage, which are (relatively) balanced ships were duds? You know, those ones we see spammed all over sector space...

And you think the shopping season is an excellent time to try and render 9/10ths of the merchandise you're trying to sell nearly worthless?

Slow down from S6? Have you seen the D-Exchange recently? Zen prices pretty much bottomed out due to all of the desire for Dilithium due to the Starbase sink. We're also seeing more Zen on the Exchange now than I think we've ever seen before. Safe to say people are buying that Zen to sell it on the D-Exchange.

I have a feeling that S6 has probably been more profitable for Perfect World than any ship release ever has been...

    2 things:

1)If you think they are really going to do something with PvP I have some ocean view property still for sale in the middle of the Sahara desert. I would say that 90%+ of players don't PvP so why should they worry about what might TRIBBLE off the pvp'ers?

2)Being a man and observing men - fathers, friends, everywhere - it was a pretty easy generalization to make - men seek more power as a general rule - it has been a hallmark of men and civilization since recorded time - overstated?? really? Guy walks into the gun store - given 2 choices a little .22 cal auto or a .45 ACP - which one would 95% of men pick? Same goes for any weapon in history - it's got to be more and more powerfully or deadly

So yes I think a lot of men who play the game would jump at a ship that is more powerful - and those who don't will be crying because their ship is not as powerful!

i was joking about the man thing lol.. being a man myself haha.

but id disagree, they already said they are dedicating a season to it. (keep in mind im not a pvper myself) and a large portion of the populous in the game complain of lackluster pvp. i garuntee the ship will be balanced. it will have an edge somewhere, but it will lose something else to make up for it. im not saying the ship will suck, they have to make a reason to have it. but like i said, they have spent almost three years making sure the ships are balanced, they arnt gonna stop now. and honetly, last year at this time they didnt do anything too crazy. nor the year before, so i see no reason for them to suddenly break tradition to make a few xtra bucks.

Any of us speculators could be right or wrong - and as I said we have Zero input on what we get. BTW they can say anything about PvP and do nothing - just like they have been doing for almost 3 years and just like they do with the KDF every few months - oh yeah your getting something - we are working on it - we would like to - we will get to it - next season most likely - etc, etc, etc

If it not on holodeck it's not happening as far as promises go.

You proved to all the doubters that making a bold step to sell something that might TRIBBLE some players off will bring in lots of money.

Now one more step to make year end sales and Season t the most financially successfull yet - make the Vesta a super power that she has been talked up in the books to be!

    39k Hull
    3 Univ boff
12 turn rate(same as the new vet ship)
    Loading dual heavy cannons
    10 consoles
    1.4 shield mod
    all sci ship abilities
    4/4 weapons

    Let's have a blow-out year end!!

I will be jumping at this new LTS sale and hoping you make a bold move with the Vesta as well!

Still not gonna happen. There is a difference between making an exclusive ship not so exclusive, and making a god ship.

Again, there is a difference between wanting a getting a fun, unique ship and getting something over-powered.

Nope not worried, if they ever did make a OP ship, it's not going to be in the C store and it won't be a ship 30 years older than the ships we have, so no the Vesta won't be OP.

Regent was a refit not a brand new ship. Regent was not launched year end with a new season.

    we shall see.

Cyptic today proved they can surprise.

Given what they just did to the vet reward system, I will not be surprised to see them offer tier 5 starbases decked out for sale once people start reaching tier 5. They need to slap all those starbase grinders in the face too.

I can't see a single c-store ship coming with 3 consoles, and the only thing like that, that came close was the ody/bort pack of ships.

so im betting we see the same setup.

3 different ships with roughly the same stats, one a science, one a tactical and one an engineering variant.

    2500 zen a ship, or 5000 zen for a 3 pack.

No it could all just be one ship - An uber OP ship that will blow the Oddy sales record out of the water - just like Titanic did to star wars at the box office.

now seeing the 1000 day vet ship has cannons up front and a 14 turn I think some of the guesses I made in another thread are becoming more likely.

    12+ turn
    38k hull
10 Console slots - looks very likely now with those 3 special powers

i know she is going to be a Beauty with real sharp teeth - this year-end quarter should be the most finacially successful ever for STO!

What do you say now rrincy, neo, and happyhappy? Still say they won't make her a super star?

My prediction is 3500-4000. One ship. Ten slots like the Odyssey. Set bonuses on the consoles. It won't be great without the consoles but with the consoles, a gimmick-loaded beast.

And at that price, some of the consoles will either have to work on other ships or it will need some kind of serious love like a custom bridge.
