The Defiant had scaling issues because there were never definite specs for it, the size varies from 120m to 170m, the whole thing gets even more absurd when you have the Type 10 Shuttle, that I will remind you, its 9.6m long (DS9TM) and at 120m that would mean the shuttlebay door would be 8 meters wide, remember the Delta Flyer and Voayger's magical Shuttlebay door? Same here but worst because.
Deck 5.
Yes, the CGI model was likely set at 120m at first, printed materials says 170m so you pick what? the smaller size that makes the Defiant too small? 170m might not be right either but still its a comfortable error and if I recall STO puts it in the middle, 150m.
The Defiant clearly used TARDIS technology, since the turbolift's list a Deck 6 as well. :P

I think I was consistently facepalming every time Janeway would come across a new ship and have it "tractor beamed into the shuttlebay". In addition to Voyager's regular complement of shuttles, that Intrepid had the Delta Flyer, Neelix's ship (wasn't that like some sort of freighter?) and the alien of the week's ships.
i hope the final version will look like mark rademakers designs in shape and closely in pattern too. i?ve been in love with that design since i saw his first pictures some years ago...i would SO buy it.
WIP looks somehow distorted to me, even when counting the wide-angle camera in...i am very curious how the final design will look...please dont mess it up the nacelles really have to have the right size, otherwise it will look like a stranded whale.
That's a adventurous statement, i wouldn't sign that.
I hope the Vesta will soon be in the game finally. I must say i am not a fan of that design, but i am happy for everyone who likes it.
Thank you for reading.

Wow she a beautiful ship in the pictures , but I doubt it will look like that in sto, just look at the previous ships. I hope I am wrong though. Will she some with a special quantum slipstream drive of something since from what I have been told, she was the first starfleet vessel to be built from the ground up around slipstream drive technology, as well as other experimental technologies?
There sure are alot of haters on the forums. On one hand, we are getting a new ship. Yay! On the otherhand, it's the Vesta! Yay!
Seriously, whats with the jaded responses? People knocking the older models because a tiny texture is out of alignment. Jeez, the STO forum community is harder to please than any other MMO community out there. Maybe it is because they are dealing with Star Trek as an established franchise. The hardcore fans who obsess over how many levels the Defiant has or the exact angle of the Galaxy's neck ruin it for everyone else.
Cryptic, while your game in it's entirety may need some kinks worked out and some streamlining, the modelers you have do great work, especially considering the constraints they have to work with.
i dont get what all the excitement about this ship is. first off we have 2 or 3 ships that basically look like it anyways already in game. im not saying that it is an ugly ship (though its not the best looking either), but i would rather of seen something a little more unique such as the niagra class, or even the freedom or the springfield before this ship. i mean they bring a new look, but this looks like the child of a sovreign and a starcruiser.
i guess whatever floats your boat, but i think cryptic should make a final push to get the last few ip canon ships out b4 they start getting soft canon ships from books out there.
It's a toss up...I love new ships...but the 1000 day reward is coming and then the Vesta. I will have to see both finalized before I decide what my tac will fly.

I think that's a photograph of a computer monitor, not even a proper screenshot. Probably taken with a phone, too, so it's not even a proper photo. Given those facts, I'm surprised it's not even more distorted.

Indeed.
Bear in mind it actually looks strangely distorted in even some of Rademaker's pictures. It in fact is not your typical starfleet ship. Always looked kinda weird to me, but I like it. :P
TOIVA, Toi Vaxx, Toia Vix, Toveg, T'vritha, To Vrax: Bring in the Allegiance class. Toi'Va, Ti'vath, Toivia, Ty'Vris, Tia Vex, Toi'Virth: Add Tier 6 KDF Carrier and Raider. Tae'Va, T'Vaya, To'Var, Tevra, T'Vira, To'Vrak: Give us Asylums for Romulans.

yeah , it looks odd because the saucer is mostly whats in view , theres 80 % the angle and 20% the ship itself ,since the secondary hull isnt just underneath the saucer like on most ships , some of it is above too
It was also designed with an 'I WIN' gun that could one-shot Borg cubes. I hope it does NOT come with that.
Now that would be awesome. Make it a level 50 restricted class, and give it the power to Two shot kill borg cubes, 4 shot borg spheres and one shot tacticals.

In fairness however, my criticism in regards to PAST work, is the slew of model inaccuracies on certain ships. That's hardly just a "tiny texture out of alignment".

You know... I just realized that the Chevron-sep Oddessey is a nod to the Vesta.
Must be because I don't have an Oddy.

Thanks for Harajuku. Now let's get a real "Magical Girl" costume!

That model and angle shot makes it look like the whale aka star cruiser
I really really hope they listen to its original designer and give it the REAL look it deserves. Otherwise its just another mutated whale model.
I'm guessing the Vesta will be offered at the CStore for 2,000 Zen points like most new ships.
Here is my question:
What new Console and unique weapon will it come with? Please I hope nothing lame.
look at the second picture , its nothing like the star cruiser , at all
as for the console and setups , we'll have to wait for november for that

We can't break tradition by not asking anyway these questions cause then it does not feel like the STO forums.
1. will it have it's own bridge?
2. Oh another Fed ship, what about the KDF, once again nothing for them.
